    The most epic use of sit/stand desk motors ever 😎
    As someone who almost entirely relies on out-of-the-box products and IKEA modularity, it's fascinating to follow your custom solutions; I could easily see something like the keyboard tray _needing_ to be custom due to it being for a MIDI controller rather than a typical keyboard lol. Really enjoyed the tidbit about the 3D print 'grain' direction; I always suspected there was a lot of engineering required for these prints but wasn't aware of that side of it!

      Hahaha thanks man! I love these "IKEA hacks", I think it's my fav type of diy project because it's so accessible! I was going to replace the unfinished plywood board with something from their "as-is" section too but I never got around to it 😅
      The 3D printing stuff is really fun to learn! Esp if things move smoothly, adjusting the parameters to fit your print and seeing it in action is very satisfying. If only it didn't take a few hours to find out if the strength is up to spec, haha! 😁

    • @BJGpixel
      @BJGpixel 3 года назад +1

      @@CKTDanny Oh good idea, I bet the "as-is" section would be a great place to find scrap pieces in general; even if you'd need to disassemble a put-together item for a certain part lol.
      Yeah I could imagine it being especially satisfying to design a good custom print and see your engineering in action! It'd be cool if the software were somehow able to estimate the strength/integrity of the design based on dimensions and fill, etc. prior to printing!

      Oh, something neat along that line of thought! I think Fusion 360 has a simulation tool that lets you optimize the model and eliminate material that doesn't bear much/any load. The result is structures that kind of look like tree branches - really fascinating stuff!! Not sure if that feature is part of the free plan but I'd love to play with it someday 🤩

      @@CKTDanny Oh interesting! It'd be really cool to see the differences between an original and optimized version; could be a neat way to learn something about the engineering ✨

      Thank you!! Really glad you enjoyed it, I have more stuff in this vein in the queue coming up. It's hard for me to predict when the next project will be done cuz it's a lot of work doing everything from the pre-production to the post-production myself, haha. Will give it my best, I hope it won't be too long before the next one's done! 😁

    • @CKTDanny
      @CKTDanny  2 года назад +1

      Thank you!! Unfortunately I never ended up posting it anywhere - the design needs a revision anyway because I didn't model a couple of holes for mounting (hence the drilling.)
      Is it something you'd be interested in? I'm not sure if I still have access to Fusion 360 so I can't promise anything 😶
