I was wearing a Frank Drebin t-shirt one day while walking through a Home Depot. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I just want you to know, we're all counting on you, " which is a quote from Leslie Nielsen's character in Airplane, but still funny.
Nielsen was so good in these roles!

Davy Crockett is actually played by the director, David Zucker, who is a great fan of him and collects memorabilia, including letters. Zucker is a great prankster too:
"As a prank I once had a fake Crockett letter made up and I had my friend Bobby Weil pretend to be looking it over with a cup of coffee in hand. Everyone was saying, “You better put that coffee down you might spill it.” Another friend was enlisted to open the door behind him and bump him so Bobby would spill coffee all over the letter. I wasn’t there and the plan was I would come in and they would have to explain it to me. Weil then tried to wipe it off and it just all made it worse. A group of guys just drove off, they were so upset. That was a pretty great scene."
About his appearance in the film, he says: "The most fun I’ve ever had was when I played Davy Crockett in Naked Gun 2 1/2. I don’t think you need any more evidence how pathetic my life is."

I think a couple of very good actors went unnoticed in this film. First, the late great character actor, Anthony James (who Frank turned into a giant water balloon) played Ralph, the actual murderer In the Heat of the Night. He worked at the diner and was always tormenting Warren Oates with those pies. The other was Crispin Glover, cast as George Herbert Walker Bush. He was Michael J. Foxes' dad in Back to the Future and was the quintessential nerd of all time. These are two of my very favorite bit players and they deserved greater attention.

2:08 You expressed amusement at White House Chief of Staff John Sununu's name. Fun fact: that was his name. The actor who plays him in the movies looks like him, too. Before becoming Chief of Staff to George H.W. Bush, John H Sununu was governor of New Hampshire. His two sons followed him into politics. John E Sununu was a U.S. Senator for New Hampshire, and Chris Sununu is the current governor of New Hampshire. Another fun fact: Sununu stole thousands of dollars in personal travel from the United States military while working in the White House.

Three other films (done in this style and made by a lot of the same people).... 'Wrongfully Accused' (with Leslie Nielsen & Richard Crenna, from Hot Shots Part Deux...it mostly spoofs The Fugitive) 'National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1' (with Emilio Estevez & Samuel L. Jackson...it mostly spoofs the Lethal Weapon films) AND Mafia (with Jay Mohr, Christina Applegate & Lloyd Bridges from Airplane 1 & 2 and Hot Shots 1 & 2...it spoofs the Godfather, Goodfellas and other mob type movies). The best part was the sex scene, and Natalie really enjoyed this movie, never seen her laugh so much. We miss Leslie Nielsen.

The youngest I've ever seen Leslie Nielsen was in the sci-fi classic, FORBIDDEN PLANET (1956), check that one out, and the horror anthology CREEPSHOW (1982), in his segment, he's the bad guy!

If you like the Naked Gun movies then you need to watch "Top Secret!". Same type of humour only even more absurd.

Another great reaction y’all. I watch the Naked Gun movies every year I’m sure. 😂When Savage starts singing in the bathroom with Jane, and that sex scene. Comedy gold. 😊👏😂😂🥰

For me the 1st one was the best, the 3rd one was 2nd and this one was 3rd. But I loved them all.

You have to watch Top Secret!, it's by the same people as Airplane, it's about as great and it's Val Kilmers first movie. You would not regret it

Saw each of them in cinema as they came out. 3 The Final Insult was also good with another director, Liam Neeson will play the son of Frank in Seth MacFarlain's new reboot,

One serious role on Poseidon Adventure, several psycho killer roles, & mostly hilarious role later,Leslie Nielson is quite versatile.

Aww my Natalie and Michelle are too young to remember, but that was George H Bush, he was President of the US at the time when this movie came out, I remember seeing this movie with my father🥲. I thought they are both equally funny, can’t wait till ya see the Naked Gun 33 and a 3rd. lol
Also Michelle definitely time to react to Ghost if you want a good Spooky/ Romance. 👻💙❤️
