I am from the same region of north bengal these women are. We only buy this type of jute woven matts for our homes. They are beautiful and hardy , can withstand lot of wear and tear. It warms my heart that these Rajbsndhi artisans are being celebrated in the international media.
Amazing, literally floored, what a cool woman, seeing her spin the spindle over the scrap of tire on her leg, or her entire loom having a back strap on it, her going to workshops, paying for her son's education, learning feet and inches such back breaking work and she takes pride and joy in it and I am just so blown away. What a resourceful and skillful weaver!!!

They are incredibly skilled artisans and the transformation from raw material to finished product is a testament to their experience and skill.
It's incredible. They are doing too much hard work like a machine. I know that sometimes they get hard back pain but still they are doing their job like pooja. It is really good to see and today I am proud to say that I am living in that country where these people are coming. Truly Incredible.
