Oh my word how does that fabric suits you ?the colour is lovely ,I have a plum dress wich is dark ,too dark on me but that colour is beautiful ,you look a different woman 🤗🤗🤗
You don’t half make me laugh when you go off on a tangent and have to bring yourself back, I could listen to your banter all day long sista 🥰 Love the fabrics you’ve chosen and your colours are spot on. The jumpsuit hasn’t grabbed me in the past, but seeing it look so good on you I’m thinking it might suit me after all, I’m very aware of my mummy tummy (grand mummy theses days 🤣) that so easily spoils the look of what would are gorgeous garments on anyone else, but this style is very flattering and pockets!, it has pickets! 🌹❤️
I'm sewing up yet another Remy raglan top this morning, in some linen-rayon blend, but bought Jayne's Orla top pattern too, this morning and was waffling about making it.When I buy fabric from my fabric shop, I almost always buy what's on a 'buy 1 metre, get 2 free', and I usually have 3 metres to use of anything I get. So I still have about another 1.5m of the fabric I was sewing this morning, and 3 metres of another colour way, and I think you've convinced me I have to try the Orla, too. I love Jayne's patterns, but I don't have an overlocker, so I try to French seam everything I can, and the 1cm seam allowance tests my sewing mettle lol. I might have to learn how to adjust the seam allowances as I've seen people talk about doing, to have a bit of play in case things go awry, as they do once in a while.
I absolutely love the jumpsuit--the fit looks amazing, and it's really flattering! I feel like I have a weird love/hate relationship with Stylearc; so many of their patterns look fantastic, but the instructions... why? Anyways, may have to try this one this summer nonetheless. I too have a long torso, so very good idea to lengthen there for me too, probably. And I appreciate specifying by how much you would lengthen. I'm new to altering patterns, and find I tend to go overboard in what I think I should do to adjust on the basis of my first toile, and then either just give up on the pattern after doing one or two more to try to get it right, or just say "good enough" because I can't seem to get it right. Also, another great one by Jayne! I have so many of her pinafores in corduroy and wool, and Dolly turtlenecks in French terry for my winter wardrobe, among others of hers. I had asked her about the Orla last summer when I first saw it, and I'm thrilled to see it's out! I've made a bunch of Remy tops and Romy dresses by Sew House 7, and I'd love to try this one as an alternative. Your idea of the dress hack sounds brilliant! Thank you for the great start to my Friday.😊
Awe thanks for commenting I think lengthening the bodice will be a very easy alteration and my second one is coming soon the Orla will be nice with them make a change from a tshirt
Hi Alison, I love your Orla top, what a lovely pattern it is. I was interested to see what the Norman jumpsuit would look like and I’m very impressed, you look great in yours. I love dungarees on other people but don’t think they are for me but I think the Norman jumpsuit would be a good alternative in a light linen for the summer, they are both on my makes list now. 😊❤
I really wouldn't know where to start, It's a really rural area, and Barnstaple, where I live, is fairly small. I don't know anyone who sews and makes their own clothes like I do. My hubby and daughter just nod along when I talk sewing x
Hi Alison, I’ve been keen to see what you thought about the jumpsuit. I like the pattern drawings on that one so could be tempted. Do you think would work in a linen? And yes I made the Whittaker pinafore dress and talked about it in a vlog. I left the button placket bit until I had finished in the hope that it would make a bit more sense at the end and it did. Can’t wait to see your finished dress. Ruth x
Love the jumpsuit Alison, it’s going to be gorgeous in the denim 😃 I have to say, I’m absolutely HOPELESS at following written pattern instructions. I’m currently attempting a big 4 pattern with my first attempt at a v neck facing (not on the fold) 😱 First attempt at the bodice ended up in the bin. I found a great video on 5 ways to finish a v neck by Karina from Lifting Pins And Needles and drafted a facing on the fold to use. It’s worked perfectly 😅 Looking forward to seeing your secret project and your pinafore when they’re finished. Have a great day 💞💞
Karina is an amazing seamstress isn’t she, I never miss a vlog and there’s always a video to go back to if you’re having a difficulty with a technique.
So pleased you got sorted I do think pattern companies need to cater better for us visual learners Jayne from the dressmakers closet and also Chelsea from Friday Pattern Co always do and it makes such a difference
Really like the Norman dungarees. I made the Sew Willow Scilla last year which are great but tempted with the Norman now!! I think they are designed to be slightly cropped. You have been so busy and new fabrics are lovely too. 😊 Lynne
Thanks Alison 😊 I'm just making the Dixie blouse from the dressmakers closet out of silk from stitch fabrics. It's one of my favourite patterns. I'm hoping to get some time to finish some of my wins as they have been in a box for months 😂 Always love seeing your makes and getting a catch up. Have a great weekend 😊
Love your makes, great vlog as always. Alison can you tell us what is hanging on the door behind you? I am always drawn to whatever the garment is on the door. It is different every time. Tell me I am nosey I know. 🧐😂
It’s lovely. Marilyn mcg
Thank you

Always ready to take myself down a leafy lane 😂 I love the fit of The Norman I wasn’t convinced it would be for me but I’m pleased I tried it

Hi I have just found your channel. You are so natural and knowledgeable, I really enjoy watching you, you make me giggle 😂 x
Welcome thanks for watching x
It's lovely that you have lots of sewing socials, I'm in North Devon, and we don't have anything like that around here.
Go for it and start 1 Marie there may be a local sewing facebook group that’s a good starting point for getting together

You never know who else is there somewhere waiting to meet a new sewing friend
Love the sleeves! I have large arms, so could wear that!
Totally!
Lovely makes. Liz @ Baker that Sews has made the Norman a couple of times in linen - smashing pattern
I’m a total convert
