wow now that is dedication! this is some beautiful photograhpy thanks for bringing us along on your adventure! thanks for sharing this great content with us! loved watching this!
I would say the 70-200 would be best if you could only take one lens, but, if you could take 2 lenses, I would say the 24-70, and 100-400. That would give you a great range to capture just about anything you’d want
@@mozzamhosein6476 we will be running workshops again in 2022! If you aren’t already, sign up for my mailing list on my website to see any workshop announcements. The link is in the description of this video. And thank you!
Nice collaboration Mike. Looks like that was a lot of fun. Again, nice opening with the time lapse. I always like when like minded people band together to achieve a similar goal. Keep cranking this stuff out you are on a roll my friend!
Robert H thank you so much! This has been such a great trip! The next video will be out probably Thursday with Chris, and we are in Sedona now on the last part of our trip!
You bagged some great ones man. The production quality too was especially good. It’s always nice to shoot with company. I almost went to the white sand dunes last month. Like you mentioned they are definitely more challenging to photograph but man do unique looking.
Hi Mike, I just found your site while looking at BVS's. I was at White Sands last March. It is an awesome place, but as you mentioned it can be challenging. Keep up the good work; I will definitely be checking back!
Im so ashamed to say this. Would you believe ive lived in NM for 10 years....& never knew White Sands National Park existed. Thanks to my friends that assumed I knew & my ex that took me absolutely NOWHERE after moving there from KS, since he’d already been every where. And my own failure to explore. (I just never imagined!) Add insult to my ignorance.... I’m also a biologist- zoologist who WORKED for Wildlife and Parks. I’d also self taught myself in college w a 1960s or 70s (?) vintage Minolta. Idk. It was my grandpas Vietnam camera, so don’t trust my knowledge on it. 😂 Anyway, I had NO EXCUSE to not know this beautiful land lay ONLY 3 hrs away from my home. THANK YOU! Because of YOU, I now know! I guess it’s truly never to late to learn something new. So Soon, Off I go, vintage Minolta & crappy iPhone in hand... to see if I still remember how to take a pic & hopefully tell my own story! From someone who only knows the basics & learned off a camera where everything was manual. I must say an all manual vintage, which people scoff at now, did serve its unique purpose. It’s true that it’s far more difficult to get “that” shot. However, i found it easier in being able to “trick” the camera into doing something digitals don’t want to do! Digitals, in my experience, pull a “Karen” & decide to autocorrect...whether you want it to or not! 😂 For example: ME: Hey! I have an idea? Let’s try to PURPOSELY overexpose the sun to make the storm clouds look ominously black!? VINTAGE MINOLTA: OH HELL YEAH! Sounds like fun!! Hurry! Let’s do this! DIGITAL: Ummm. No. THIS is what you meant to do. Seriously? Just...No. Here, I’m just going to take over from here. I said, NO! Just take your hands off, Walk away and let me do it the CORRECT WAY! I know, you’re a pro. You obviously know how to get around the Karen of digital cameras. An inexperienced rookie, or just me, doesn’t. I’m also computer challenged. That’s not all I enjoyed about my vintage cam though, I found that my accidents turned out to be creative masterpiece worthy of matting and framing. Digital “oops”shots? Not so much. Perhaps it’s the difference between sifting thru pics off 35mm film? The touchable tangible difference between paper VS swiping a screen & hitting delete. AHHHH, and I can’t forget this. The old 35mm B/W film! We didn’t have photoshop. They made special transparent colored markers! Don’t think just magic marker, although they were magic. They were so sheer & translucent...like stained glass. They preserved every detail beneath the item being colored. The more layers-the deeper the color. It truly looked genuine. As though whatever you colored was captured that way... Just in a world of black n white. If I photographed a giant field of blowing wheat with a distant tornado raging off the side and a solitary SUNFLOWER standing tall....while secretly holding on for dear life...I could whip out the markers & color that sunflower only... changing the subject. Thus, changing the ENTIRE story from destruction of a tornado to survival of a sunflower...in literally a few min. No graphic design courses or need to be computer savvy. You are such an amazing photographer. You come across, to me, as an artistic photographer. I know you’re all artistic, but to the viewer... not necessarily. Sometimes a highly skilled photographer whose pics are “perfect”... well, i call the pics vanilla. All the ingredients are there. It’s mixed correctly. It’s the right temp. Its tastes delicious, but it’s vanilla. Your pics are different. Your photos embody a story. Even though they tell a story or speak of a journey you’ve been on. They do so much more than that. If I looked at only your pic... no captions or video. I could create my OWN story! You’re photos inspire one to do that. Not just Matt and frame. To study, think about and wonder. They evoke emotions without specifying which ones. It’s a beautiful thing to be more creative than simply perfect. Shit! Wow! So Sorry so long. I’m a writer. I was inspired. 😂
Haha thank you so much for the epic comment! White Sands is such an underrated place, and one of my favorite in the Southwest for landscape photography!
Good work from both of you. I remember a vid you posted last year from White Sands in which you were concerned finding your way back to camp after sunset. Was that fear still with you on this trip?
Ryan Luna thank you man! It was still a concern, but we got out before it was too dark and back to camp. The wind picked up, there want a lot of people that day/night so we just walked out footprints back. Not too bad this time actually
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For sharing your talents with us.

Sheard Photography thank you man we appreciate that brotha!
Can you tell me the kind of camera bag set up you have as it look like you had a combo with a camel pack?
Excellent video. Would you recommend the following lens for Sand Dune photography: 24-70mm, 70-200 mm or 100-400mm. Would love your suggestion. Thanks

Crates 10 that’s awesome man thank you! It’s definitely a challenge but such a beautiful place!!
Cool video. The hardest part of shooting White Sands is finding a composition without tracking it up. 🤠
Richard Bonine, Jr. haha seriously footprints are the worst
nice video, whats the name of the song you used in this video
