I think the Twinstar offers different products for different uses. The latest doctor offers most, if not all, modes in 1 product from algae prevention, disease prevention etc
@@AquaristForFun Thank you 😊 So the doctor is an all in one. Going to order the doctor then 😉 My aquarium is finaly (almost)like I want it, like to keep that way 😉
Thank you! I'm really glad you appreciate it. Had to use a bunch of memes just to make things light because some topics are bit too balls deep in research and science. hahaha
Thank you for the detailed information and Great vedio 😁 My question is, will these sterilizers have any negetive effect on the beneficial bacteria colony in the tank and filters? Thank you
It could but since it only turns on for maybe around 5 seconds every hour or so it doesn't really affect the beneficial bacteria. If you try and do a DIY without proper understanding of how it should work there's been reports of filter crashes and large livestock death. Like I said in the video, hydrolysis isn't a simple 1+1 equation and there are multiple factors that could affect the results and outcome.
Constructive Feedback: If you eliminated the crap out of your video I might had bothered to watch it all the way through, the immature content had me searching for someone else's video. They don't kill existing algae they prevent further growth of algae, I have used it in my tanks for 2 years and it stopped it in it's tracks. Hasn't harmed livestock and promoted healthy plant growth. So there you have it in one.
I haven't personally used UV lamps before but i think if you are more of a fish keeper than an aquascaper i think UV lamps are a better option. But if you are dabbling into aquascaping with proper plants and livestock then I think sterilizers like this one will be better. Also if you have a really high TDS these sterilizers are not recommended
Hey I have a question about the chihiros rgb 2. I have several red plants in my scape for example : rotala vietnam, althenatera reineckii mini. But in my opinion they are not that red where I want them to be. I have a twinstar 3 450 white 1750 lumens, shut my lumens be more?
if you want to get technical, lumens doesnt really matter. what matters is the PAR levels, the higher the better AND nitrate limitation. if you can lower your nitrates to as low as 0-5 you'll get the bright reds. 5-10 you'll see some reds but can be orangish or pinkish
@@denniswesterveld982 depends on your budget. Chihiros has more options and IMO has better price to performance ratio. More options from A series, C series RGB, WRGB, VIVID, X etc. on my 45cm 80L cube i used x2 AseriesII lights and they're doing really great. It's bonsai setup with carpet plants
question as I am new, I have just started my tank. Is it safe once you have added prime to your water to have your hands in there working on bits, is it a safe chemical? I am changing water every day as it’s a new heavey planted c02 tank and using seachem prime everyday is it safe should I have been wearing gloves .So new just looking for tips on how to work with different things
should be relatively safe. i dont wear gloves when i do water changes and when I use prime. But I always wash my hands after just to remove any excess dirt and chemicals off my hands
Apologies if this is a silly question, but I feed a lot of live brine shrimp - is it possible they could hop into the grid and short the whole thing out? Could that damage the unit or harm the fish somehow?
they do jump once the process starts, and it never shorted mine during the time i was using it. the biggest problem i had was calcium deposits on the grid and lessening its effectivity
not really. its just sitting inside the box of my spare sponges and pipes. good thing I bought it 2nd hand from another person who doesn't use it as well. hahaha
its hard to set exact variables that'll show definitive results. unless what you want is another stereotypical RUclipsR approach which is not my style. Say lighting, co2 and fertilization method are the constant variables, a lot of factors can affect the results the biggest of which is the presence/lack of aquarium maintenance which will then defeat the main purpose of the study. I've already provided a lot of scientific journals in the description box, please read it as it tries to explain what the manufacturer doesn't. SPOILER ALERT, such sterilizers are NICE to have but is NOT a MUST have. Aquarium husbandry and horticultural care trumps such auxiliary devices.
HAHAHA honest to goodness, they literally filled the USA patent with the word "killing apparatus". 73x to be exact. it felt as if a psychopath worded the entire patent. hahaha

I read something about the radicals it produces harming the gill cells of fish
Does this minimize or kill blue green algea aka Cyanobacteria?

what do you mean DIY sterilization? and what sterilization process did you use
