Oh boy. This whole thing reminds me of when the most popular dude in high school asked me to be his girlfriend (he was the football captain). The guy wrote me love notes in English class. He courted me for months, and then..just as suddenly as his attention came, it went. We were both freshmen in high school, but he was one year older than me. He could have literally had any girl he wanted...and yet he chose ME. I was a nerd. I didn't have a "click" like most people did. I had many different types of friends from different groups, and I definitely didn't see his attention coming. During the courting, and while he was my boyfriend, all of the popular girls started talking to me. I was like, "da fuq?" And then one of my 'friends' wrote me a note, and told me how "James likes you so much. I've never seen him so happy!!! And I am so happy for you both!" Me being the naive 14 year old girl that I was, I was like, "Aw, thank you so much Marlee. That is *so* sweet!" But..I should have known Marlee's intentions weren't exactly peachy. After James unexpectedly broke up with me, Marlee was dating him a week later. To this day, I don't know how or what could have made him change his mind about me so quickly because he genuinely did seem like he liked and cared about me. But seeing him and Marlee together so quickly made me think she probably promised him things that I surely wasn't going to give up at that age, if ya know what I mean. Moral of the story: there is no DOUBT about the fact that if you date a popular, or well-established, partner..prepare for the jealousy to come out of the woodwork. It is not an understatement that you should never fully trust anyone who is overly excited or eager about your newfound happiness because just as they claim to be so happy for you one day, they could very easily take it upon themselves to try to meddle in that happiness, and then revel in the idea that they are powerful for taking it away. Countless 'friends' have done this to me before because I didn't understand just how easily other women can become jealous, and target you. If you really treasure something or someone, sometimes it is really helpful to keep the most meaningful parts of your relationship private. People always always envy. Not even because they are bad people, but sometimes it could be that their lives are not going well, and instead of focusing on their own lives, or improving it, they focus on ruining someone else's to get that quick feeling of power that they may feel they lack in their own lives. What's interesting is when you date a popular guy and u really want nothing to do with his popularity. When I started dating my boyfriend we were both in the third year of university and this is when he was coming down from his wild party days. We were dating because of a shared interest in our major and genuine interest in each other. What I did not expect was the amount of social expectations people would have from ME. While I am not shy by any metric, I don't have the energy to place nice with random people all the time- especially in things that I have no interest in like frat parties. He could have literally had any girl he wanted...and yet he chose ME. I was a nerd. I didn't have a "click" like most people did. I had many different types of friends from different groups, and I definitely didn't see his attention coming. During the courting, and while he was my boyfriend, all of the popular girls started talking to me. I was like, "da fuq?" And then one of my 'friends' wrote me a note, and told me how "James likes you so much. I've never seen him so happy!!! And I am so happy for you both!" Me being the naive 14 year old girl that I was, I was like, "Aw, thank you so much Marlee. That is *so* sweet!" But..I should have known Marlee's intentions weren't exactly peachy. After James unexpectedly broke up with me, Marlee was dating him a week later. To this day, I don't know how or what could have made him change his mind about me so quickly because he genuinely did seem like he liked and cared about me. But seeing him and Marlee together so quickly made me think she probably promised him things that I surely wasn't going to give up at that age, if ya know what I mean. Moral of the story: there is no DOUBT about the fact that if you date a popular, or well-established, partner..prepare for the jealousy to come out of the woodwork. It is not an understatement that you should never fully trust anyone who is overly excited or eager about your newfound happiness because just as they claim to be so happy for you one day, they could very easily take it upon themselves to try to meddle in that happiness, and then revel in the idea that they are powerful for taking it away. Countless 'friends' have done this to me before because I didn't understand just how easily other women can become jealous, and target you. If you really treasure something or someone, sometimes it is really helpful to keep the most meaningful parts of your relationship private. People always always envy. Not even because they are bad people, but sometimes it could be that their lives are not going well, and instead of focusing on their own lives, or improving it, they focus on ruining someone else's to get that quick feeling of power that they may feel they lack in their own lives. I am more aware and conscientious these days. I wish everyone luck who is currently dating someone that is wanted by many. It isn't easy, but I truly believe if something is meant to be, it will work despite the hurdles that may come.
I had a similar experience but the boy was 2 years older than me but one grade ahead. I was shy and inexperienced. He would stare at me in class, come to my locker... all the popular boys abs upper class men would approach me and encourage me to give their boy a shot 🙄 he too wrote me letters, drew me pictures, gave me little gifts, started buying my lunch at school. We dated for a year and a half and he stalked me for 3 years after I graduated high school. He tried to turn me against all the people who were once in his corner encouraging me to date him. That was over 20 years ago now and I’m still affected by the experiences I wish I could forget... he was extremely manipulative, obsessive and compulsive.
supposing he's actually straight, Olivia is in a strong position here. She has her children, no ticking clock to have to keep half an eye on, she's ticked that box, she is still young herself, she doesn't need a husband and that's her appeal to younger men.

Growing up, I always got unwanted attention from the popular guys. I changed schools a lot and this always seemed to be the case. It bothered me to no end because I absolutely LOATHED the popular crowd. I was what you called a plain Jane. I was a loner and a nerd and kept my head down.
And you're right because at every single school, the popular guys wouldn't leave me alone. At every school I would do whatever I could to avoid them because they were insufferable. And at every school without fail, they would find their way to me without fail. It literally got to the point where I would cry daily because I was so frustrated by their never ending attention. I literally just wanted to be left alone. I hated everything about school.
Eventually, I caved and went out with the football captain from church and it ended in the WORST heartbreak in my life. Turned out to be a total fkboy (shocker) 🙄 and I swore off boys for good. Except Harry of course. I'll always have a soft spot for him and I hate it. 😇

What's interesting is when you date a popular guy and u really want nothing to do with his popularity. When I started dating my boyfriend we were both in the third year of university and this is when he was coming down from his wild party days. We were dating because of a shared interest in our major and genuine interest in each other. What I did not expect was the amount of social expectations people would have from ME. While I am not shy by any metric, I don't have the energy to place nice with random people all the time- especially in things that I have no interest in like frat parties. There were actual grown adults in their twenties gossiping about my "anti-social" ways. My boyfriend didn't care that I wasn't interested in his social life and I was too busy with my own work to get involved, but I truly hadn't expected random people to care about my relationship just because it was with a "popular" guy.
I like being antisocial because of people like that lol
i saw people online say "oh my god he's just holding hands with a friend!!!" and compared this with lizzo. they said that the headlines are inherently racist because they didn't take the photo of harry and lizzo holding hands seriously. i see their point and i don't think that's the reality. the reality is CONTEXT. harry and lizzo were at an AWARD SHOW together. olivia and harry were at a WEDDING. a wedding is an intimate social experience. love is in the air. in an award show you have that adrenaline and glamor behind it. it's so different. my other concern is that olivia looks similar to the model harry dated prior and it looks like a rebound to me. he picks out similar women in their looks and attitude style. for someone who is free (i admire his art) he puts certain areas in his life in a box at times

He`s only ever had girlfriends and is friends with everyone, very comfortable and easy to be around, so most of my girl friends(myself included) hold hands with him, hug, crack racy jokes, but at the same time we don`t see him as someone we would necessarily date(like he doesn`t give off that energy) and he`s fine with all that, he just loves being in company. Not saying that that`s what Harry`s like, but there are arguments to be made.
Also, I`ve held hands with people I`m not dating, so I don`t think that argument holds up, since I feel like everything depends on the personality and Harry`s quite affectionate, from what I`ve seen. But hey, if they`re dating that`s cool too!
