Siegfried Schtauffen (ジークフリート・シュタウフェン, Jīkufurīto Shutaufen) is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. He is set to appear in the upcoming game Soulcalibur VI, which will mark his debut appearance in the new, rebooted Soulcalibur timeline. His nickname is A Soul in the Purgatory (明日なき魂 Ashita naki tamashī?).
Biography
After losing to Kilik and his comrades in the form of Nightmare, Siegfried awoke in an unfamiliar place and he is now unable to free himself from the unforgiving memories of his time spent as the cursed sword’s puppet. The memory of having killed his own father is haunting him. His true nightmare has only just begun… Full of regrets, he is looking for redemption and he desperately wants to free himself from the cursed sword’s grasp!
Physical Appearance
Siegfried appears as a physically-fit young man with long blond hair and a scar across his right eye. He is clad in a suit of ornate steel plate armor and a long white scarf, with his upper body bare under the armor. Underneath his right gauntlet there are bandages, possibly due to his previously malfested arm.
In a flashback to the ending of Soul Edge, he lacks the scar and has short hair, wearing a different suit of plate armor with bandages wrapped around his hands.

I have always loved the siegfried vs nightmare fights because there is so much to feel every time they clash not to mention I always feel that siegfried thinks that this whole thing with soul edge and nightmare is his fault
i love Seig's va at the start, its so emotional!
I would've preferred having Will Friedle voice him, personally, but Kirk Thornton will suffice.

As much as I like Roger Craig smiths time as Siegfried, Kirk Thornton’s performance in the beginning really sells that Siegfried would give anything to to be free of the greif over what he has done.
I have a feeling that Dimitri from Fire Emblem Three Houses was partially inspired by Siegfried in almost every aspect.

Don't be. Eventually, he weilded and merged with Soul Calibur and destroyed Nightmare/Inferno at the end of Soul Calibur IV.😊
@@Facade953considering SC6 is a soft rebooted timeline (that still acknowledges SCV), things might go differently this time, especially if this Sieg gets some help from his old timeline version, like Cassandra.

It’s a shame that he put so much weight on his shoulders over an accident.
It wasn't an accident, at least not in the OG timeline. In Soul Blade (the first game in the Soul Series) it was revealed that Sieg was the leader of a gang that attacked soldiers tired from battle. Sieg and his gang launched a raid on a band of soliders, beat/killed them, and then Sieg himself beheaded the leader in triumph. When he removed the helmet of the man he killed, he saw that the head in his hand was his father's, and went insane from shock and grief, convincing himself that someone else slew his father, and that he must hunt this man down.
Jean Gentry I know the story. It was an accident because Siegfried didn’t mean to kill his father.
He fully intended to kill the leader of the group- that's no accident. What he didn't intend to do was kill his own father. That he did makes the murder of his father an unintended consequence, not an accident.

This is all Bandai's fault when they joined Namco. Namco was great BEFORE Bandai joined! Bandai makes shitty games just like what AVGN says! Bandai should just quit and go back to making their Power Rangers action figures and Tamagotchi games. THAT'S what they're ONLY good at!!
I’m confused. Did Siegfried have both Soul Edge, and Soul Calibur at the same time?
@Jasper Fox - FoxGamer39618 They're actually the same sword. Soul Calibur was created when someone (presumably Siegfried) reforged a shattered Soul Edge piece.
MrEgofreak I’m guessing you haven’t played Soul Calibur 4. The creator of both swords, which are definitely not the same thing, was Algol, the hero king. He created Soul Edge which corrupted his son Arcturus whom he was force to kill. He then took a shard of Soul Edge, and used it to make Soul Calibur with the intent on destroying Soul Edge. Unfortunately, this didn’t work out too great since Soul Calibur ended up being just as likely to corrupt people as Soul Edge.
Soul Calibur IV was my introduction to the series. Algol didn't create both swords, just Soul Calibur. Soul Edge was just an ordinary sword that somehow became animate after so many battles. The spirits of the swords, Elysium and Inferno, are brother and sister and have the same goal in mind - albeit with entirely different ways of accomplishing this - so it makes sense the Siegfried could hear both of them.
I don't remember if Sieg ever held both at the same time, but I know that he has had of both of them. He acquired Soul Calibur in SC3.
MrEgofreak The sword belonged to Algol, and it became Soul Edge because of him. So he actually did create Soul Edge. Just not physically speaking.
When did he get that scar on his eye though?
Probably during his fight with Cervantes-or more accurately, Inferno using Cervantes' corpse-near the end of Soul Blade.

The couldn't have got an actor to even attempt a German accent? The VA just doesn't fit him at all, he's always been one of my favorite characters out of any IP, it's a shame how jarring it is
