    Yeah, I worked at a Target in the same state you did from 2012 to 2014 working Hardlines on the sales floor, and I really enjoyed the work I did and all the staff, including the TL's and ETL's were phenomenal people. If it wasnt for the pay being so minimum wage, I probably would have stayed. But since working at places that give you only one break, the lunch break, I now look back at the Target job and be like, I would have been more productive as an employee if we didnt get those 15 min breaks. I mean, you can barely do anything in that time anyway. But, it was a Target policy.

    I quit target a month ago after hired for seasonal. They were not training me the way I felt I should have been trained. I was left alone with questions but had to go ask someone else who wasn't my trainer bc my trainer was off doing other stuff all day. I was so stressed by end of day and with it being my first job back at work after a month to 2 months I thought nope!! Was not for me.

      RIGHT!!! I’ve been a supervisor on the front for a couple years, and unlike these blind managers, I understand the frustration, I would see people have one day of training and all this dedication in orientation like “Target is going to take care of you!” Then after that day or even during that day or training, they just cast you out and say “do this” and they don’t teach you anything cause the person training you is either under too much stress from a manager telling them to do a bunch of things while they have a trainee so they don’t have time to train you, or just lack of consistent training, you would have a training schedule for 2 weeks and all of those two weeks you wouldn’t even be training, they skip training so the company just use your labor.... so noticing this, as a supervisor, I would spend the ENTIRE shift training someone, now I was on the front end, I couldn’t help them much on the sales floor but I made sure I answered all of their questions and tried my best to prepare them and there was a noticeable difference between me training someone and my MANAGERS training someone, because my managers would say “hey you shouldn’t take 2 hours to train someone, it should be 30 minutes and get them on a register” well... the problem with that, while hands on training is great, everything is so rushed they don’t know wtf is going on, and I know this cause I’ve been told that by so many people who have been cut short on their training... target sucks, they truly don’t care about you, they lie about so much, they lie to the guests and they lie to the team members, I’m glad you left when you did, everyone who’s been loyal to the company for so long is leaving and all of them are happier and have better paying jobs and I’m out soon now, it’s good you stayed away from target, they are filled with crooks at every corner

    • @boratsagedieve1058
      @boratsagedieve1058 3 года назад +2

      @Mon-El it’s terrible and soon target will begin having bad customer service,
      The reason behind it, managers are too concerned about NPS scores and goal times, and they think training someone for 1-2 hours is loitering when in reality it’s dedicated training, they see that 1-2 hours of having a manager or another team member training a new person is a waste of pay and leaves the floor empty,
      When in reality, to fix this issue, just schedule someone a 6 hour shift with the trainee or an 8 hour shift and that’s what their shift will consist of, and on top of that, 1-2 hours of dedicated training is actually just going to create a much more efficient team member,
      I know this first hand because everyone I trained are the ones who the managers trust to get things done,
      Target is going down hill

    • @boratsagedieve1058
      @boratsagedieve1058 3 года назад +1

      @Mon-El target use to value it’s team members, and in return, they would get loyal, hard working, dedicated team members. In addition, they would also excel in customer service,
      But then it turned into a corporate montage of “goals… goals… goals” and all the team member is, is just a statistical output with their lack of meaningful input,
      Honestly if corporate laid off and let the store just handle it, the store would be more efficient and they just focus on logistics and financing and if a store is really bad, then that’s when they step in,
      Otherwise, corporate isn’t the one to tell the store employees what’s the fastest way to push a U-boat, or what’s the fastest way to zone etc. just cause it works in New York doesn’t mean it works everywhere else

    I am SOO SORRY that you had to experience this from THE BEGINNING. This absolutely sucks that they did not respect your boundaries and other jobs. You did everything right and even bent FAR over backwards for them the week you were scheduled 38 hours. Target is my first job in Fulfillment, and I am bound for college soon so I am hanging on to dear life also. I thought what I’ve experienced as a minor, full-time high school student with a LOT on my plate was awful, but your manager sounds wayy worse than my store director and ETL. I constantly have to tell multiple people about days off requests that they don’t see in the computer, and try to find the one person that can help me. I can’t wait to go. I’m glad I got a bit retail experience, but this is 100% not my career and won’t be returning.

    Her behavior was the result of an incident some years earlier where her son was in a car accident which left him paralyzed. All the managers let her get away with her behavior because they felt sorry for her. Thus I left, along with several other team members

    22:00 I used to work at target in 2014-2016 and I was at service desk, then I was promoted to GSA. let me tell you that it was the worst decision of my life to accept the position. I had to do basically all the same work that GSTL’s did for literally $1 more an hour. I was miserable. I should have just stayed at service desk. I ended up quitting and going to State Farm and loved it there. Worked there for 4 years until the pandemic started and I was let go. I unfortunately had to go back to target because my unemployment ran out and I’ve been there since sept 2021. I work at a “small format” target. It’s a very small store. I’m now in softlines/ style. I hate it. I applied to be a TL and was denied by my store director even though I have experience with the company. I was told by a co worker that the HR team lead didn’t like me and told the store director I wouldn’t be a good fit for the TL position. The new store I’m in is full of team leads that practice favoritism and gossip about team members and don’t appreciate the hard work we do. My team leader is terrible to me. She talks down to me and it’s degrading especially having supervisor experience, albeit it was years ago, she has a very nasty attitude and and always comes at me with so much animosity. Working there has been detrimental to my mental health. I’m always anxious and have to walk on eggshells with my TL. I’m in the process of looking for another job, possibly Delta. Target is a very toxic place to work at and I plan to let my store director know how I was treated and why I’m leaving. I just hope my complaints don’t fall on deaf ears.

    Currently working at target and management is just awful. There is one specific manager that is difficult to work with and nothing is being done despite multiple people reporting her, we are constantly being pulled aside and reprimanded for really small petty shit, if you call out that specific manager makes sure to guilt trip you and on top of that you can't ask for help without being met with an attitude. I’m seriously considering quitting Target. I recently asked for a scheduling change so I could go to church. No big deal right? Except they denied me three times. Then there’s the fact that they’re training a new girl to be a TL in my department when I’ve been there longer. It’s obvious they don’t like me or respect me. I won’t stay where I’m not wanted.

    I wanted to model for Montgomery Ward or for Sears when I was much younger. But, the woman who was in charge of hiring the models didn't hire me. I was in much better shape years ago than I'm in now. She only hired her relatives and friends. I was so disappointed! Would of loved to have had my picture in the store's sales ads!! Always wanted to be popular as well as being wealthy!! I think that it would of been nice!!!

    I got new hired at Target for seasonal Cashier position, and have orientation almost after 3 weeks, I hope I will be staying for longer as have been told on the interview. I can understand your concerning, It is really painful when you have to go through all this. I wish you all the best. I am really sorry that all happened to you, it is really frustrating. personally I would not expect anything from Target I mean any good or better, so I won't mind anything if bad happened such as to leave OR hard time because I am secured from other job too! I have Fulltime job from Monday to Friday so I will be working only for weekends. They might kept for longer because they already know I am not Relying on this weekends Job only. Personally I think when any employer know that their job offer is all you have then they take an advantage of you.

    I work at the warehouse for Target and they treat us like numbers as well. Its all about their bonuses. I was put on a corrective action during the beginning of the pandemic for being sick for more than 4 days, not in row, just in a 90 day period. And after my husband passed away this year, I was put on a final which means I can get fired for absolutely anything. That's how much the company cares for its employees... 0%
    So I do feel what you felt.

    I've enjoyed my seasonal experience at Target, but I agree wholeheartedly in regard to scheduling and ignoring our requests during the interview phase. I told them at my interview that on Mondays only, I can't work past 2 p.m. because I also worked as a Cable Operator for Government Access TV in a neighboring city. I was responsible for recording their City Council meetings live. The guy wrote it down and everything. Next thing you know, I was working from 12-6 p.m. on Mondays. 2 consecutive call offs at the other place automatically meant that they had to let me go.
    Also, management in other depts. were a-holes, especially when I was chosen to fill in and help out. They treated me as if I didn't belong. My own dept. (Electronics) was great, but Toys, Front End (Cashier), etc., screw them.

I loved the job but ended up leaving because I had to move at the time.

      I don't think I've ever worked a job in Ohio where there were minors so I don't have anything to compare it to. We definitely did not give 15 minute breaks in WV. I just think the ETL-HR insisting this was a state law showed she doesn't know what she's talking about and then my later dealings with her proved that.

But I guess it's an issue because they want us all cross trained. Lol after 6yrs now they want to cross train me after I was overlooked constantly. Disregard the fact that once summer comes around I'm the only cashier they can guarantee will show up for their shift. Only good change is they dont harass us about getting red cards anymore. I dont want to not work there but it is what it is. It will be the first time I have the entire weekend off in almost 10yrs.

      @@rbodell I'm making excuses? I just stated a fact. That is not at all how the world works. Jobs don't pay you more because you do a good job. They pay you as little as they can get away with.
      Who says Target isn't loosing workers?
      I need work ethics? Like what? Being ok with being paid less than I'm supposed to be? Allowing a company to get good PR based on a lie? What are you talking about?
      You do understand that you're extremely privileged as a Boomer, correct? Your experience and mine are not even comparable. Why would you never ask for a job. Are you saying you didn't even try or are you saying I shouldn't try?
      So you're saying you worked harder to stay unemployed then to get a job. Are you suggesting I do that? Doesn't that conflict with what you said about work ethic?
