You DON'T have to explain why your doing what. There's a reason for the way you decide to do what you do. Your a very good organizer. I'm sure Ashley is a big part of that. lol I soooooo enjoy your video's and I love your explanation of you tools, which I have bought for my son. He loves working on houses alot like you

Well said Glenda, I always know there is a reason they do what they do it always means they are one step toward working on something in, under or above this house!!

Yes! No apologies needed. You are working smart. Rebuilding a home takes more work than new. Each step you take (including a mobile shop) makes good sense! I look forward to the production of your wall wood on your router tables! I do hope you have a solid tongue lock on your workshop trailer. Look forward to next week.

I thought the beginning of this video was funny! Doug was talking, talking, talking, and then a word board pops up and says 3 or 4 words. 😂 I enjoyed that bit of humor.
I don't know why people keep asking the same questions, for example, "Why are you doing this and not that?" You've been pretty clear about it before, so it makes me sad that people feel comfortable trying to micromanage your builds, renovations, and time.
I'm enjoying getting to see all that you've done since you moved on the property not too long ago.
Thanks for sharing. Be well and God bless you all! 🙏🏻😊🌻

I know that I am dating myself. my grandfather used baby food jars to store small hardware items like screws, bolts, nuts, and washers. What he did was attach the lid of the jar to the bottom of one of the shelves then fill the jar and screw the jar into the lid. That way it was easy to see what was in the jar and it did not take up space on a shelf.

I can't believe people make ANY 'comments' about WHAT you're working on and the speed you're doing it at. It's YOUR home, YOUR property, YOUR lives! I thought it was actually a pretty good idea ... now you have a place to (safely) store your tools while you continue your work. Clever!

I was a DIY person for years... and I was usually pretty quiet about my projects because people just didn;t get it that when you are DIY is means just that ... you are doing all of it by yourself... planning, shopping, hauling, stacking and storing, plus executing the projects... as you are able.. from finding the materials and tools and now waiting for things to appear in stores and on shelves..And then there is daily living.. eating, laundry , kids, the whole real life scenario... I marvel at all you two get done. You are great. Thanks for sharing it.

It's coming along well. You have made a really great job of getting a workable and tidy workshop....As they say you can't bake a cake without cracking a few eggs first. There is always a process to getting a job done and although everyone wants to see the end results you have to complete the not so exciting jobs first before you can get to the fun stuff.

Doug and Ashley don't worry about the naysayers. They obviously have never done any remodeling or building or they would understand the realities of the work. There is a phrase for the process of jumping around from one project to another in order to keep things moving. It's called shaving the yak.
Yaks have a lot of hair. No matter where you shave, there is always a lot more to shave.
I learned that from Gail Goddard. She has The Clutter Fairy channel.

Well I can understand why some people would ask certain questions I still feel you shouldn't have to explain yourself. Like you said you're still moving ahead. I agree 100% with building the workshop. Just getting all of those tools out of the house and off the porch etc is a big accomplishment. Plus you'll be able to find things quicker. And when you want to stop working on a project you can just turn off the lights and close the door to the shop and things won't be in your way. While I'm always anxious to see what you're up to I guess I don't want you to finish up your property too soon or we won't have anything to watch. 😊

I learned this from my great grandparents who immigrated to Canada from the Ukraine in 1898. They lived in a shack but built a new barn. This enabled them to produce food to feed their family then selling surplus to build a bigger home.
After all they had 13 children as was the lifestyle then. Be well and thanks for these videos. Maybe put some emergency food in the shop incase you have to evacuate on short notice. 🇨🇦🌻🌻

I agree keeping all the wood and tools in the work trailer will obviously make the house cleaner and less cluttered. Plus you don't have a garage so the trailer is taken the place of a nice dry garage.

It makes sense to me to have a workshop, keep mess outside the house. Keep all your tools in one place.
Shelves turned out great. Loved the editing

I appreciate the way you personalize the process and subliminally encourage viewers to get started on their own projects. About the workshop timing, it's always wise to set up a staging area FIRST. The benefit is much less frustration and far greater time efficiency. You are teaching by example.

Doug, I agree with Glenda Brekke. You don’t have to explain to us at all. We should be thanking you and Ashley for allowing us to watch your life unfold. I know you chose to do it. THANK YOU both!💕
