Very NIce! I learned to thrown on a treadle wheel 38 years ago. My family was in the furniture making business and I appreciate the use of wood in the majority of this tool.
Nice that you gave credit of the original design to your uncle. I hope you do well with this.I will try to come and visit sometime, perhaps I'll take one of these away with me.

Beautiful. A worthy piece of craftsmanship. Form and function perfectly combined. I congratulate you for bringing this project to fruition. I hope you sell many of them.

Wow! What a beautifully crafted wheel! Just this past summer I bought one of the original Woodley wheels from England that was brought over in a shipment (I believe it was in the 1960's) for Warren Mackenzie and his students at the University of Minnesota. I am very proud to own one of these wheels, and I would very, very much like to own one of your new ones! Maybe one day! I think it is great that you are continuing the legacy of your family through producing these beautiful wheels!

This is a beautiful bit of furniture, to be sure. But i do wonder about using such nice lumber for something thats going to be covered with mud. "rode hard, put away wet" so to speak. TBH if i was building this in my garage, id just use pressure treated pine for the structure and fence pickets for the box. But im just being practical. Seriously this thing is beautiful. I just worry it would be too pretty for me to use properly!
For the flywheel, have you considered casting steel reinforced concrete? The vastly increased weight would make for a more energy efficient and smoother experience... though with the inertia it would be hard to stop and/or change directions if your style requires it. But once you got it going it would not take much of a kick to keep it going. I bet it would feel like a strong electric wheel at that point.

This wheel is just beautiful . A practicle question Simon . What is the Dry Weight (As we say with motorcycles ) assembled ?? I think this is a very fair price for the workmanship for anyone reading this ... Now if I just had some space !!! I know, less pots more wheels !!

This wheel is quite a work of art. The dark wood accents make the wheel glow. It would be a shame to get it dirty. Someone will have years of use from this fine wheel.

Hi Simon. I´m Ricardo from Argentina. Your wheel is awsome. I wish I had one but I do not have the money to pay the shipping to my country. Its very expensive. It is possible that you have some plans to do it myself? I would appreciate your help.
Thank you very much Simon ;)
