Our material pocessions do not define our worth or even our level of accomplishment. They are just objects of pleasure and no reflection on our value as a person.
God Bless You Always Sweetheart!!! I adore this Beautiful Lady but always feel that void of priority that this life is not about us ergo He who loves us All, stuff is stuff….. JESUS IS OUR/my EVERYTHING 🪻✝️🪻
"I'm not afraid of going back to nothing." Great comment. Those of us who came from nothing can truly appreciate what we have, but at the same time understand that it's not the end of the world if we have to cut back. Love the ring too, I need to think about doing something like this with the ashes from my dog that passed away in June. One of your best videos.
Thankyou Sophie. As someone who can afford anything I want, for the rest of my life… I’d give it all up to bring back my youngest son who died by suicide at 22 years, 6 months and 5 days into his life. Absolutely none of all the “stuff” matters. Just people, family…
Losing a child must be one of the hardest thing a mother can experience, i hope you keep his memory alive because the spirit and soul are eternal, he is still around you just not in physical form. Stuff is just that, stuff but Love is everything. Sending you great energy x
I don't know how these videos aren't popular. I love them! It's a great reminder to keep doing what I need to do and not worry about others and how they're doing it
@@SophieShohetOfficial My pleasure. I enjoy your unique combination of an aesthetic appreciation for beautiful things and a grounded approach to consumerism (and life)!
Honestly Sophie, I enjoy all your content. And this particular video is inspiring. When you showed your ring with Louis' ashes, I teared up a little bit. It's really sweet and I'm glad you are happy with it. It's a lovely way to remember him. 💙
This video really resonated with me! It’s so hard to not compare yourself to others but we truly never know the full picture. The gratitude journal is a great tool! A few years back, I started writing down things I’m grateful for on small pieces of paper, collect them in a vase and at the end of the year go through them and reflect :)
Better than any haul, i am so over the same items being shown by everybody. What we need is realness, examples of overcoming issues, love of self animals and others. I am trying to be the change i want to see in this world and help those that are suffering. Thank you Sophie
Louis’s ring is stunning and such a beautiful way to always have him close to you. This was such a good video. Platforms like RUclips and Instagram can create unreal expectations and people only tend to show the positive aspects of their lives. I do feel that it can be positive too. When I have gone through really bad things in my real life RUclips has been a good escape at the end of a tough day. It’s a reminder that there’s people out there who have lives and that one day this situation will be resolved and I may be able to have a life again too.
I've always believed that if you're completely content and happy, you don't need to always shop for the next best bag, phone, clothes, shoes. Avoid comparing yourself to others. Be happy with yourself. I stay off social media. I'm happier.
That last one's a biggie. I'm unable to leave them so far because I'm in a situation that requires having accounts, but I do look forward to deleting or deactivating them someday. That is on my vision board 😂
Really enjoyed this chat, I remember feeling the same about some of the things I have now....car,watch various bags...I can actually go shopping now and feel that I don't need stuff because I already have lovely things.
Love the roses behind you, I think at some point you have things and it gets to a point where your done, I had expensive bags they didn't make me happy, they made me nervous and a target, so I sold them. I am happier using an average bag. My average bag also is someone else's dream bag.
My sister, who works in animal welfare told me of a person who just bequeathed 1.5 million dollars to the Animal Humane Societies. They lived very modestly and absolutely no one thought they were wealthy. In the New York Times, there was an article yesterday about Charles Feeney, who pledged to donate all his 8 billion dollar fortune before he died. And he did just that, even taking the bus instead of taxis to be able to give more. These are the individuals whose mental states I aspire to. Yes, we often need the new shiny to make life a little better or to get us motivated. But we can also recognize how much of an abyss desire is and temper it by reminding ourselves that there is utter greatness in being able to save to give it away. ❤
I love this type of video. I had a friend who appeared to have everything. Later I learned her son was so into drugs he broke into friends and neighbors homes and robbed them numerous times before he was caught and went to jail. So yes in the surface she had it all.
The sweet necklace melts my heart! You can always have Louis with you! I loved what you said about writing down our thankful list!!! We all need to do that! God bless you and your family❤
Hello Sophie. Great topic but I have never felt like that. I was brought up to be grateful for what I have. Never looked at anyone & thought gee I am jealous of them. I have a husband of 40 years next week, I have two daughters who have grown to be kind, caring & empathetic women. I have two gorgeous Grandsons. I have a roof over my head. Food in my tummy & clothes on my back. I am happy. Using a gratitude diary is a good idea. Jane in New Zealand 🇬🇧🇳🇿
This is EXACTLY what I needed. I am grateful to Sophie for doing this video. Yes, I’ve got the life I dreamed of as a poor student. Thankyou. Would be very happy to see more like this.
That is so sweet Sophie. My little eye teared up 😢 I'm going through a really low time with unemployment. These words are EXACTLY what I needed to hear today 🤗
I have learned this to be true: Happiness Doesn’t Make Us Grateful; Gratitude Makes Us Happy. If you know where you want to be, writing a list of what you have done today towards that is so much less stressful than writing a to do list. Thats probably much the same as your mood journal
And it's good to know, for many people, buying nice things, it's a choice, we can't have everything. Yes, I go to nice restaurants and have pretty bags and clothes, but I don't own a car or update my phone every year. Someone else may have a nice car, but they work around the clock to afford it. And also, you can't know what else is going on in their lives. Nobodys life is as it seems on the outside. They might have some heavy stuff going on. Be emphatic towards yourself and others ❤
I love videos like this! It was exactly what I needed to hear today. I'm so glad you have Louis's ashes in such a lovely ring. I really hope it helps you heal.
Never settle on your health too! Most important I think, if you are not healthy inside you are not healthy in other areas that feed into the relationships…jobs…etc… x
I Love the Louis ring Sophie! so precious to have him with you xx Yes being grateful and actually writing it all down is something that makes us realise how lucky we are. I went into Manchester city centre last wk and it was really strange - I didnt covet things in Selfridges there like I normally do.
I always was saying - it is not one who has a lot that is rich, but one who does not want more than he has. Love your content Sophie! You’re so wonderful, just wanted to say that! Such a joy to watch your videos, whatever you decide to cover. ❤
Great video. As the saying goes, comparison is the thief of joy ! And it truly is. Be happy with the things you have , health and happiness is all that matters and only surround yourself with radiators and not drains! 😅
Hi Sophie, I really appreciated this post. The past two years have been overwhelming and I don’t feel like I’m moving forward. So having someone as positive as you, as light and caring as you are it’s easier to hear that message. I’ll say thank you for this video.❤
For years I was a bit envious of a friend - she and her husband earn quite well and this is reflected in their lifestyle. She also has a great bag collection. But a few days ago her husband's tweet appeared on my feed (I didn't even know that he's on X/Twitter) - took a look at his other tweets and let's just say he doesn't seem like a nice person. We will never know what actually goes in someone's life and social media are usually just highlight reels - they almost never show the whole picture.
What a perfect timing to enjoy a video of yours! Miss your content, now that am feeling a little bit better again after a very hard breakup. Thank you Sophie! Hope you are doing well
I'm so sorry to hear that you've been through a rough time Sara :( I hope you're starting to feel a bit better, breakups are the worst. Hugs to you my friend xx

Such a sweet video, Sophie. 🫶🏾😍
This a very good message, I 've always been satisfied with what I have, never had any jealous feelings which is a great blessing. Not to throw my store manager under the bus but I know that’s she’s in debt like credit card debt but I think she always buys clothes from our store and I don’t think she’s making very good choices but of course she’s probably trying to help our store’s sales but I also feel like she should be more financially responsible in her personal life before just spending money that she really can’t afford to be spending but of course I can’t be judgmental because it’s her life but man, I’m so grateful to be debt free…I’m guilty of using our employee discount a lot too
Really interesting video. Every time to time is good to remember this small - big things. I've stopped my positive diary but after watching this I'll try to come back to the routine of writing. Thanks a lot Sophie!🥰♥️
Thank you for sharing your personal moment with Louis and unboxing your ring. I'm so glad you feel close to him. Sophie, could you please tell me where you got your necklace? It's so beautiful! Thank you!

I love your idea on gratitude and reminding ourselves how much we have - and to be thankful for all of our blessings. It's so easy to get caught up in all of the wants. I am so saddened to hear about Louis and hope you and David are as well as you can be. Xoxo
Sophie, I am deeply sorry for the loss of Louis. We lost our 16 year old Scottish Terrier in May and I still look for him about the house. I am often envious of women around me who appear in better health than I. I have to remember that they may have other issues, such as addictions, or in many cases, just work much harder on their health than I do. I like your reminder to list my blessings. Ive lost sight lately of those things that enrich my life, and tend to feel sorry for myself. Writing it down makes it so much more mindful. Bless you and David and keep well. ❤
I so needed to hear this , I can’t buy the bags you have, mine are more coach, Dooney And Burke, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, but I have to stop. I so needed to hear this. Thank you thank you thank you and again I love listening to you, you’re my favorite. I really like the ring , I wish I had done that for my brother ❤️❤️ I am learned never to compare myself to others . Wow you are so spot on, after 40 years of marriage ( he was cheating) I am worth more , so I had to leave. You are so very spot on. Again I so needed to hear this. Thanks ❤️❤️
Love this video! Really has made me think wow to look back at myself 8-10 years ago dreaming of the things I’m grateful for today! Thank you! So easy to get caught up in constantly seeing what everybody else has/is doing/where they’re up to in their life, I do love your hauls/shopping vlogs, but this has made me feel super content with myself!
Hi Lovely Sophie ! Such a meaningful video … the ring is gorgeous in memory of Louis, such a lovely ring… happy for you. I’m over 50 years old and I totally agree to what you say in this video 👍🏻Life is a lot of challenges, just believe in yourself, must feel the gratitude in life and everything will be good. You are a very kind and inspiring person ❤️
For anybody wondering, that is indeed how Porsche allocations work. At least in the UK. Porsche as a brand does a very poor job at enforcing any rules onto dealerships and this leads to the situation where to get an allocation for what is in essence one of their very few sports cars, you need a crazy purchasing history of Macans, Cayennes, Taycans etc. And they're huge on you financing and then also returning it to them so they can rinse & repeat that cycle, because cars on finance bring extra commission to the dealerships.
There is a book called Status Anxiety by Alain De Botton which addresses the exact paradox of wanting what others have. The fact that it was published in 2004 and is even more pertinent now is interesting. Not all his solutions are relevant to everyone but the causes he addresses like lovelessness and expectation are eye opening.
Hi Sophie, Love that you've hopped onto the journaling train. I love mine, its not any particular fancy book, just a blank one from Kmart but its nice to write down ideas, goals you want to reach and thoughts. I absolutley love your rose necklace, could you please let me know where you got it? Thanks
Hello lovely Sarah! Yes I’m super into it too, I love having a plan written down 😊 That’s so sweet of you to say that about the necklace, I actually made it! 🥰xx
I'm so glad that you chose to keep Louie's spirit close to you with this lovely ring. There's no doubt that you will love and miss him forever-at least, that's how I feel about all of my wonderful pets that are no longer with me. This is just an aside, but I've been trying to figure out who you sort remind me of. You bring to mind Diana Rigg when she played Mrs. Peel in the old Avengers series on TV here in the states. Beauty and brains!
I once had a therapist who told me: “Don’t compare your ‘insides’ to other people’s ‘outsides’! 💕👏🇺🇸💕

These are my favorite types of videos. I've watched your career/money/life advice videos multiple times over!
This sounds like an interesting book, thank you so much for sharing this! Hugs xx
I am going to see if my library has that book, tfs.
Thank you Sophie! I read a book recently that mentioned doing these goals with dates and writing it again everyday to manifest ❤
I actually really appreciate these videos. An I absolutely died at 11:29 😂 Sophie you are a great role model.
Yes I’m super into it too, I love having a plan written down 😊
That’s so sweet of you to say that about the necklace, I actually made it! 🥰xx
Love the sentiment behind the ring 💙
Thank you so much lovely! It's nice to feel like he's always with me now :) xx
Thank you!!!
Sophie, this might be my favorite video that you have ever done! WISDOM ❤
Comparison is the thief of joy 😊
We could question why people who are poor can't manifest money. Why are people still in poverty if they are praying for money?
Sophie, it helped, thank you ❤
I had to come back and rewatch this. ❤
Lovely video Sophie 🥰
