    Marc Mellits is on my top-ten list of composers. I consider it important to keep track on who, exactly, is writing genuine music which we can all enjoy, as opposed to the frauds who are writing anti-music - usually the Juilliard Mafia who have the imprimatur of Don Corigliano.
    A polished performance, superb intonation, and a pleasure to listen to.

    Bravo. A compulsively listenable work played so well. The virtuosity of each player in service to the throbbing sonorities and rhythms is a real groundbreaking thing. 21st century wind chamber music has so much potential!

    I heard this a couple of nights ago on NPR and caught it with only a few minutes left of the performance, but within a few seconds, I knew I loved it. I tried to Shazaam it to find out what it was since I was late getting to where I was going, but that didn't work, so luckily I was able to find out what it was by looking at the program notes for that evening's "Performance Today" broadcast on NPR's website. I've listened to the piece about 6-7 times since. I just love it. It's exactly the kind of contemporary piece that hits a sweet spot for me and makes me smile; evocative, accessible, muscular, but also tender, and just lots of fun. And I'm ashamed to admit, this is the first time I've heard or knew of a reed quintet, that I can recall (I stopped playing years ago), but it was marvelously performed. I know the composer must've been thrilled. A new fan of you guys here, and of the composer.

    I like the Reed Quintet concept. As a saxophonist, I've always been annoyed at the absence of a seat at a "woodwind" quintet. What's up w/ dat? No offense French horn players...

    • @alasdeangel3929
      @alasdeangel3929 7 лет назад +3

      I agree, the French Horn isn't even a wind instrument. Its brass! Give that seat to the alto sax!

    Me and my group are playing movements 2, 6, and 8, for solo ensemble but my current bass clarinet cannot reach below the E♭ in all three of those movements due to lack of keys. I am trying to see if I can rent a professional bass clarinet with the keys to be able to play lower but so far can't find anything. Is there anything you know that may help me in finding what I need?
