Thank you for this video. So sad. Here's some additional information. Bramwell, West Virginia, was once a prosperous town known for its wealth and the number of millionaires residing there during the early 20th century. Located in the heart of the coalfields of southern West Virginia, Bramwell thrived as coal mining boomed, attracting wealthy mine owners and entrepreneurs who built grand homes, making it one of the richest small towns in the United States at the time. However, like many coal towns, Bramwell's fortunes declined as the coal industry faced challenges, including reduced demand, labor disputes, and increased mechanization. By the mid-20th century, many mines closed, and the town's population dwindled as residents left in search of work elsewhere. The decline of the coal industry, along with economic shifts and the migration of younger generations, led to the gradual decay of the town's once-lavish buildings and infrastructure. Today, Bramwell is known for its historic district, with many of its grand homes still standing and preserved as a reminder of its past wealth. The town has embraced its history, attracting tourists interested in its unique architecture and rich heritage. However, it remains a small and quiet community, reflecting the broader economic struggles of the Appalachian region.
I really liked all of the stone walls and the stone houses / buildings here. The scenery almost always captivates me every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks for putting this one together!
Wow the contrast between the different neighbourhoods is off the charts. That paved street is beautiful compared to the overgrown abandoned parts. Many thanks for taking us with you on this trip. Really interesting and eye opening!
I love this town. I've never seen a video of it before. It goes up, down and around...very scenic. It has bad places, but the town itself is very well kept. The terrain reminds me a lot of places in Pennsylvania. It's beautiful. Thanks! 😊
The Hoods N Hollers videos are excellent, very well done and you show great respect for the areas you drive thru. For example, you don't walk into the abandoned houses and film in there like some tubers might do. Not that there would be anything to see anyway but the locals might see it as disrespectful. Excellent presentation, looking forward to more. I will like and subscribe!
Man, the downtown area is so charming. It looks like it was once a great little town. I know it’s not likely, but I hope there’s a revival in its future.
A bank in Bramwell had a floor made of pennies. There was a mansion on top of a hill with a private airstrip. Some of the Victorian homes are beautiful. I grew up about 30 miles away from here. In the 80s, the town used to sponsor a Christmas tour of some of the homes. I went one year on a snowy evening. The town and its homes looked like one of those ceramic Christmas villages.
I love the wilderness taking over, beautiful. The roads are in better nick there than the sorry excuses for roads here in Somerset, England where one plays dodge the deep potholes...
Absolutely beautiful place, even the abandoned areas have a great character and charm, I live in the heart of rural England, but could easily see myself settling in a place like this
I was there a few years back on an atv trip. Stopped at the ice cream shop and walked through the town to admire the old mansions being renovated. Hopefully with tourism the town comes back
It's quite pretty. Well, it has abandoned houses, but you can find that elsewhere too. I know villages here in France that are much more run-down than the little town shown.
Bramwell was , at one time - a station stop on the Norfolk & Western Railway ; sadly, when traffic dropped off and maintenance on the branch up to Bluefield yard became intolerably expensive - the rails were pulled up.
Wow. Very interesting place and history. This video is a great study in contrasts between the haves and have-nots. I love that you also caught that freight train for a moment. One question, what on earth do you do if a car is coming from the opposite direction? Some of those roads were SO narrow! 😊
...nice tour, my husband lived in Parkersburg WV. I went couple of times eith him to his old town. West Virginia is really beautiful, the mountains in the fall to wete a heavenly tour
Vest Virginia is very beautiful, so much nature around and the hills. It looks a bit like the Region I am coming from in Germany , Not the buildings but the landscape 😁 If I will ever come to America in my life , I'll visit the south States!
Half of Bramwell was lost to fire in the early 1900's! It was never rebuilt and that started the decline. If not for the Hatfield McCoy trails it would be dead today! Nice place to visit while in the area!
great video even if you choose YT half speed, try it. I was having a little bit a bandwidth trouble tonight trying to watch this 60fps video so I switched to half speed via RUclips gear icon and this video was very very enjoyable at half speed, and the sound was still very good.
This is quite a contrast between the abandoned parts of town and the beautiful, well-maintained parts. I'm glad that there are still some nice houses and a nice business area in the town. It looks like it would be a peaceful place to live.
We know what happened: the coal industry boomed for about a generation or two, then it went bust. There were never any other industries that replaced the coal industry.
This looks like a very very quaint town in the middle of nowhere. But when you go onto Google maps, it's located on a major route into McDowell County WV. Not far from Route 52. I saw some land and cars i wanted to buy that's for sure. 😁
Looking at a house in Mount Hope now, exterior needs a good refresh but inside is decent. I had a nice hideaway in Quinwood but sold it in April, the one in Mount Hope might be a replacement.?
Awesome video. I'm trying to relate what I see here to the abandoned coal mine and tin mine towns that we have here in Malaysia (formerly the British colony of Malaya). The main town areas where people still live in actually look really nice and homely. I bet they have a close-knit community over there. Did you get down from your car to see how welcoming they are of outsiders?
My husband went to high school here back in the fifties, he was on the football team! Thanks for the pictures, I’ve never been there.
Thank you for this video. So sad. Here's some additional information.

Thank you for this info. Very interesting! I enjoyed reading it.
I"d Luv to call this Town my Home ...What a Beautifull Place!!!!

Thanks for watching!
Love all the stone walls. Some beautiful homes yet. Looks charming right in town.

Being respectful about the areas I film is really important to me. Thanks so much for the comment and the subscribe!
So peaceful, some beautiful older homes, it saddens me to see such a place decline so
Those stone walls are so beautiful 😍
Another great video, and as always I appreciate your time bringing these to us.
Thank you for watching!
man its like you travel back in time this video is wild ride as always the best content /channel
Love this kind of content keep the videos coming. I've gone back and viewed all your videos before this one. Very interesting, thank you
Thanks so much for watching!
Beautiful homes, lush scenery and I appreciate the rock fencing/boundaries😊
Wow! Beautiful little town! ❤✌✌
Take me home country roads💔
I was singing that song 😅

Beautiful buildings and hills. Thanks for the drive-through 🦘🦘
Wow thanks beautiful little town great videos ❤

I was thinking about how it will look on a snowy Christmas Day. It would be amazing I bet.
It’s something how quickly the town goes from abandoned to nice and back again.
I love the wilderness taking over, beautiful. The roads are in better nick there than the sorry excuses for roads here in Somerset, England where one plays dodge the deep potholes...
Absolutely beautiful place, even the abandoned areas have a great character and charm, I live in the heart of rural England, but could easily see myself settling in a place like this
J’apprécie que vos vidéos soient silencieux. Pas de musique, pas de monologues, uniquement l’essentiel. Une nouvelle abonnée 😉🇨🇦
Thank you so much!
I really enjoy your videos. The show a slice in time that many of us have never known.
I was there a few years back on an atv trip. Stopped at the ice cream shop and walked through the town to admire the old mansions being renovated. Hopefully with tourism the town comes back

My family's heritage goes back 300 yrs in WV. I think if I was healthy I would be there now. !!!!
Wow! Great video. That huge school.
Thank You ! I will never get to Bramwell, WV . I just love all the rock work along the roads. Perhaps the town will thrive once again in the future.
What an awesome adventure, thanks 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Lots of Hatfield McCoy and outlaw sxs trails in the area. Some really nice rental cabins in bramwell too. You should’ve visited matoaka.
I did. Matoaka will be up very soon! Love the Hatfield and McCoy trails.
...nice tour, my husband lived in Parkersburg WV. I went couple of times eith him to his old town. West Virginia is really beautiful, the mountains in the fall to wete a heavenly tour

Nice how the stone walls and fences remain.
I see this as nothing but beautiful and serene
Watching from the uk to me this place looks amazing so beautiful
The street with all of the white picket fences is absolutely gorgeous. You can tell there was money there at one time.
Another fascinating video from W. Virginia. If I ever went to the US, I would love to walk the street on 5:06.
nice lil tour. never been there, might have to visit someday. resident of OH, but loves WVA. thanks.

Love this town. We stay here every time we go ride the Hatfield McCoy trails.
There's a big section of Southeastern Kentucky. Western Virginia & West Virginia that all looks like this. Country livin'.
These vids are much appreciated.

I love watching these videos, they are so cool!! I could never live in an old town like that though it would be so depressing!

Cute! Reminds me of where I grew up in Humboldt County California 😊
Looking at a house in Mount Hope now, exterior needs a good refresh but inside is decent. I had a nice hideaway in Quinwood but sold it in April, the one in Mount Hope might be a replacement.?
Nice one
6:24 - what exactly is (or was) this lengthy structure? A high school, an armory, a hospital...?
High School
It says Bramwell high school on it
It was Bramwell, WV High School.
My grandfather was the town marshal there years ago. My mother grew up there and worked in the corner store.
Awesome video. I'm trying to relate what I see here to the abandoned coal mine and tin mine towns that we have here in Malaysia (formerly the British colony of Malaya). The main town areas where people still live in actually look really nice and homely. I bet they have a close-knit community over there. Really enjoy the videos. Would it be possible to do a little bit of talking. A little bit of history about the buildings, schools, etc. Thanks!
Good looking trees.
Beautiful 🙂
Reminds me of Cumberland MD, with its pockets of charm, although a larger town. It's trying to mend itself anew.
I used to drive from Northern VA to Cumberland MD on business every few weeks or so. Beautiful area!
What went wrong? It looks amazing❤️
Nice video my friend
Good and hollers ..what inspired you to do videos like these
If I get a chance I would love to settle here.
So sad... But in same time still a beautifull place.
We really need the coal industry back.
Bluefield WV I think a lot about you...✝️🇺🇸🐾🐾
So beautiful.
What went wrong ? The same thing that is going wrong everywhere else apparently
1:26 - Good horror movie vibe here...
You should do worst part of Albuquerque NM
I'll be doing that in the near future, thanks for watching!
This one is a nice place😊😊😊
The cute little house on the right at 5:57 is currently for sale. It's in bad shape, but would be a great fixer upper project.
Are there any good pubs in Bramwell?
There are never any people in your videos. Is this intentional?
Some of those roads look no wider than a two lane bicycle path. Or is it distortion in depth perception?
Very narrow roads.
Where is Bramwell, I am from WV, never heard of it.
....... on 52 , 25 minutes northwest of Bluefield and toward Welch (just before the McDowell county line).
Take me home country road.
I like só much This stuff

Thems some narrow roads y’all got down there.
Have you ever figured out what went wrong in all these places?
I use to live in McDowell county wva
I'm from matoaka we used to play them in basketball back in the. 70s. 😂😂
I love to see nature reclaime all the ugly houses
This is literally one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. True paradise.
Wow
uTerima Kasih
Rural America indeed
Can these small towns survive in the 21st century ?
👍👍👍
creepy as hell. It's like a steven king mini series.
