    Were the clocks works not housed in the library? I remember being fascinated every time i went in for a new book on railways or model areoplanes back in the sixties.

    The farmers and residents of erskine and inchinnan across the Clyde from there used to use it to tell the time or set their wayches by it

    It's disgraceful that items such as that wonderful clock have just been scrapped.
    A huge part of Scottish history simply smashed up.
    Shame on them.
