Wow. Just wow. What Trent said near the end of the video about praying for things in the past where God's Will is not yet known or revealed, blew my mind. I never thought about it that way, that God could apply our prayers retroactively in the past because He is sovereign over time.
Love Trent, I cracked up with his example of his children learning to read and how God sees us in learning and teaching us. Thank you Father for your patience with us tiny brains! Great job Fathers!
Nothing like 3 scholastics, breaking downTheological Metaphysic, without its gargon, that confuses the average layman. C S Lewis was very good at this type of explanation.
I have often struggled to explain to non-Catholics how God is able to apply our prayers for our beloved departed ones today and in the future in a way that would have been meritorious for them in the past prior to their passing.
The imagery of the cross is useful here. The horizontal bar is past and future linear sense of time (like the arrow number line Trent spoke of), the vertical bar is infinite height and depth of Being-Itself. The center or crux is the heart of Jesus and the eternal Now. Cross imagery is very helpful and pragmatic.
Godsplaining needs a bigger audience. I'm on it!

Fr. Pine is always on the verge of a belly laugh 17:40

Hope you guys have Trent on again. My favorite crossover ever 😀

Wow my thinker needs to listen more than once to this one. Yay! What a blessing to have these 3 fantastic minds together. We need more of this!
All I can say is there needs to be a part 2.
Amazing content.

Great talk! Any chance you will have Dr. Gaven Kerr on? Think he'd provide a nice episode or 100.
The Molina comment lmfao
“Molinism” yikes 😬. You both handled well.
