Just came across your channel and Parked permanently. We do Cattle and Irrigated Fertilized Hay. We can never stop seeing Hay and cattle video's we love it. Keep safe.
slow year well the first cut looks good it seams to make a nice swath it wilol be nice now if the sun comes out and dries it well keep up the good work thanks for the video
Exactly my old alfalfa has some blooms and my new stuff has next to nothing. But my baler is presently in pieces and I was waiting for parts. I have parts now but I can haul grain for the next couple days. Always something to do
Haven’t had 3 days without rain yet this year in Manitoba hay looks great but most is under water, gonna be another bad year can’t even get the first 15 acre field planted to wet
Your Hay cutters look to do a real nice job! I love family farming operations where there are multiple generations working. My farm is on land that some of it has been in my family for over 100 years and we currently have 3 different generations active in day to day operations. I know family makes it hard sometimes but it also is what makes it work! Thanks for the video.
You must be the neighbor that gets everyone else stirred up to cut hay!! Lol 😆. I’ve been resisting the temptation so far, probably crack on the weekend. Calling for showers tomorrow but we’ve missed most of this week while grimshaw and peace river get them.
We just finished our first cutting for custom hay. It was 95-100 the entire time we did hay in June. Kept having problems with ACs in our tractors. I think we’ve got it figured out now. But I’m wore out now.
@@donvoll2580 in my immediate area most guys are less than 20%. But I read a report today that said Manitoba is on average about 80% seeded. So far I’ve only put in about 15 acres of cover crops. My plan was for about 250 acres of covers, I don’t do any grain farming yet, all for cattle feed.
In my part of south central IN, a lot of us are looking at the possibility of a one cut season as hot and dry as it is (which isn’t typical for us on grass)
@@markfin7225 my cousins who I help wrap everything so they/we do have some leftovers thankfully and what we have will stay good, but this sucks for us.
I was wondering when you where going to cut some hay. Nice to see Shawn again and his epic commentary leave me speechless haha. What does your dad think about the crazy weather? good stuff stay safe and i hope the crops turn out good.
Sure wish that i had 1 of those hay combines , not the red 1 tho, its pretty noisy . Glad to see you started . A slow start is better than a no start .
I am no expert on hay but that stuff looks really good to me. Is there any type of hay your cows prefer over other types? Was that your dad in the Case. Thanks for the video.
Howdy ya'll, Howdy my Friend, I hope all us going well with you and the Family, I was curious what your Dad had to say about the hay, you turned the camera, and couldn't hear what he thought about the hay situation ?? Please let me know what your Dad thought, Thank you, Stay safe, Stay Calm and Farm on my Friend, Peace
Great start fellas. Grandpa didn’t look to happy, I bet he wanted to be in one of the machines. Take care
Wow great shots of those machines earning their keep.
Yea they still givener
Nothing better then mowing hay !! Thx for the video…
Welcome
I've always loved the smell of hay season...even when I was sweating and covered in dust putting it up in small bales..
Same here

Enjoying your video Tyson .
Thanks leo
Good morning Tyson. The hay looks good. Your dad looks well. 👍
Great video Tyson
I love to mow so naturally I love these hay cutting videos. Nice to see your dad. Looks like he's had some throat issues? Hope he's well now.
Yea he had throat cancer back in 2010
Exactly my old alfalfa has some blooms and my new stuff has next to nothing. But my baler is presently in pieces and I was waiting for parts. I have parts now but I can haul grain for the next couple days. Always something to do
Always something
Very Cool!
Thanks
Great job cutting hay Shaun

Some nice looking swaths!👍💪🏻🌾
How's it going Bob
@@Northern_Farmer all good! Very hot and humid here. Lots of storms but that’s to be expected. Hope yall are doing well!

Actually yes..I got texts right away about how I was going to make it rain now. Lol
Hi from north wales uk love watching u keep safe keep them good vlogs coming 👍👍👍👍

I never realized how much quieter that rotary cutter was than the sicle cutter
19th MINT!!
Case / hesston looks to be in reality nice shape
Yea I restored it
Wow nice hay. Our hay is growing like crazy but it won’t stop raining long enough in Manitoba to turn a wheel. Not even seeding
Same here
Good day 450 I'm from Ontario. Are u saying u didn 't finish seeding? Thanks

Unless it's Alfalfa, red clover, or sudan, we only get one cutting in NW Oregon, just a lot less tonnage the last few years with the drought...
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin grass. I think my cousins have gotten a crappy 4th cut once, definitely 3rds before though.

Beautiful country
Thanks
Pa's thinking about the hay: "Meh, just another year." Lol.
A lot of big outfits use auto steer on their haybines and swathers..
You have enough big flat fields, it would work great.
Go Laurie go!!!! Catch that damn Shaun and don't stop when he pluggs cause he won't stop for you hahahahahahahahahahah
😄 hahaha yup that's true
@@Northern_Farmer happened to a guy once hey. I think you remember that day lmao

It's late hay this year..usually by this time hay is just the right stage..but it's so young still
Dang, I'm late... Stopped by Nick's first.
Lol so did i
@@Northern_Farmer lol.. ya, saw you there.
I had to take a quick break, had to get mine uploaded, so now I can finish watching yours👍
Witch machine does a all around better job. I see two different types of head's? Great video
They both have their place...the rotary head is faster
Sure wish that i had 1 of those hay combines , not the red 1 tho, its pretty noisy . Glad to see you started . A slow start is better than a no start .
Just baled last night finaly
Lighter alfalfa and heavier grass makes for awesome calf feed...cows are the opposite...crops are looking good 👍👍
They like it to
Everything is behind here this year
Yea way behind
@@Northern_Farmer a year ago the corn was shoulder high it's barely knee high this year
Are big square balers very popular in your neck of the woods ?
Not really at all...I know of one person who has one cause he ships Timothy out of the country..but he's not using it now..bought 2 round balers
Wondered where Shaun was?
What was the problem that the Case windrower was having last year? I know it was fuel related, but I don’t remember what the fix was.
hey Shaun's mum wheres our icecream??
I am no expert on hay but that stuff looks really good to me. Is there any type of hay your cows prefer over other types? Was that your dad in the Case. Thanks for the video.
That was my brother Laurie
Cows like anything if it's good lol
My dad was with me on the side by side
I missed you selling 100 cows - how did you sell them? Auction? Private? Let them pickem out? You cutting back or keeping heifers?
Never fimed it..sold 30 or so in the fall then about 60 ish in march
Did u guys ever fertilize your hay ???
Never
Why do you only cut 75% of the width? Shawn’s mom is cute.
We have to upgrade our second hay rake to be able reach the swaths ...
tyson there's a mx 190 at a auction in new york july 29 and 30th if interested get a hold of andy another youtuber at farm fixing and fabricating
That's a bit far for me lol...the transport would cost half the tractor lol
Tyson, do you have a preference in machines? Honestly I've never seen the Case type cutter head. Seems odd to me.
It's a sickle knife head? There are tons of them
Which swather dried the fastest
They both seem the same
Do they burn roughy the same amount of fuel?
The john deere burns more...160hp to the cases 70
@@Northern_Farmer oh I figured the discbine needed more hp but not double lol but I guess it’s got that honey bee Draper too
@@tyerock7851 I don't even use thst honey bee draper anymore...it's crap..I have a Macdon now.
@@Northern_Farmer yes lol the old smaller jd swathers cut better

He thought it was fine lol
Did you run into any junk cutting near the highway?
No
How many feet above sea level are you.
Not sure...I think 600 m
how much is your fuel
Around 7.50 a gallon
Are you going to have enough hay because you broke up a couple of hay fields last year.
I also sold 100 head of cows....so we should be ok
The case does a good job but compared to the JD it is night and day
Autosteer .... open up that wallet let the moths out lol..
Haha I did
You don’t use the full head after you’ve made a trip around why do you leave such a big gap on the one side
The window makes it look like it's like that...it's only a foot or so
