    in relation to the fuel... there's a reason Italian Battleships mostly stayed in port throughout WWII

    • @Justaguy5678
      @Justaguy5678 5 лет назад +34

      That and having little to no anti-air defense so they got damaged pretty much anytime they left port and even when in port.

      @@Justaguy5678 Why did the Italian Navy build glass bottomed ships? So they could see the previous Italian Navy when they sailed over them....

      Recently watched an episode of Indy Neidell's WWII Channel...in one naval battle, the Italians lost a couple Cruisers, some destroyers, and all up about 3,000 men...and the UK lost one torpedo bi-plane and 3 men. 3000 to 3. I'm sure fuel was an issue, but, well...

    Really enjoying the in-depth commentary during this ellite run. As a amateur player ( basic mechanics after ~50hrs of playtime) it really helps me understand the deeper mechs as you try and min/max. For the glory of Rome! Thanks Quill.

      That's what I'm enjoying about this series too. I have 100+ hours yet I'm just starting to get the hang of it.
      I'm trash though since I am super bad at combat and have never once beat France or Poland lmao. Which is weird since I have my infantry as 7/2 which is supposed to be good but they have way too many people.

    Watching your original Italian campaign (the very first one) and I’d suggest not completely ignoring Malta bombing the hell out of your country this time around. Love the content!

    Another reason to take Austria before Anschluss is that you need some of that territory for the Roman Ambition Decision I believe. Which means you might not have to fight Germany for it. Or at least you can achieve it sooner.

    • @GroundThing
      @GroundThing 5 лет назад +4

      He'd probably need to go to war with Germany anyway, since he'll need france and the low countries, and even if he could snipe them before Germany, some how, there's also the matter of southern Hungary, who usually goes Axis if they don't go Pact of Rome (which it's unlikely, since they'll only pick it if Italy isn't at war with Austria and Italy isn't communist or democratic, meaning there's probably only a small window for that).

    I typically release my non-European colonies as puppets as soon as I get the chance when playing someone like Italy or France. It's a pain in the ass to defend them, they don't give much in terms of factories, and lategame they will supply additional troops.

    • @herocomplex1610
      @herocomplex1610 4 года назад

      Is there a best time to do this? Right away, or does having a boost from any factories in the colonies help kick start things?

    london naval treaty was a big treaty. but it was full off special cases mostly because in the real world building a navy takes years or preplanning so there where allot of exceptions for ships already in construction. beside that i think all off the treaty signee's cheated the terms in someway or another.

    • @Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
      @Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 5 лет назад +3

      Alot of nations tried to find loopholes in the treaty this resulted in very interesting designs such as the Lutzow class of armoured Cruisers. Most of the nations did not directly cheat Germany did build the Bismarck and tirpitz in secret. The british resigned to upgrading old designes such as the Nelson.

    You Production efficiency is calculated from the base, so 50-30+5 would give you a cap of 25%, compared to Initial Production efficiency.

    I'm a newer player (but enjoy strategy games in general) but theoretically wouldn't it be efficient to not produce any of those L3's in the factories and then send the tank squads to the Spanish civil war in order to reduce your stock of them in time for the newly researched light tank that can match the speed of the motorized infantry? That way the divisions also gain some experience as well and become even stronger at pushing.

    So they somewhat recently changed something that makes this approach no longer viable.... Yugoslavia now starts as being guaranteed by France. I’m sure a good player could take advantage of that somehow, but taking Yugoslavia as Italy is a bit trickier. Seems like the best timing for that move is around when Germany invades Poland, which sucks because those factories sure are nice.

      @ericmyrs 3 года назад

      @@AndreasWest At least when this post was written it was objectively worse. It almost certainly still is, but I'm not keyed into the meta enough to know. The loss in production efficiency cap is really bad, and you're not supposed to switch factories often. For it to be worth it in any event, it would have to be a very specific strategy, tailored to some hard counter or circumstance, though I can't think of any such circumstance.

    It's a shame you're going tank-less because it seems like the KMT playthrough is already infantry only so the combat in this one might end up being the exact same.
