Top tips how to start prepping:
    1. Get a notebook and look for good tips and tricks. write everything down in that book. Always. After some days/weeks you can look what will be good for your situations. And start planning before you buy stuff.
    2. Get your body/mind into shape. This is always good to do. Better now than later. Take small steps so you won't get overwhelmed or drop the good habits. Learn new stuff 1x a week in small amounds.
    3. Try to get a steady source of income. And always be on the lookout for a better job or other way of income.
    4. Get your home in order. Keep it clean and organised. Don't buy stuff that create a mess. Or stuff you don't need.
    5. Get the basics before you do other stuff. Also check for stuff you can get for free or make yourself.

I'm assuming you are a believer, and if not, I guess this won't make much sense, so sorry. But, if you are, I've been sharing a dream that I had a few years ago. I can still see every detail in my mind, so it's definitely one of those dreams.
I was in my old house, except closer to the water than it really was, like my neighbohood disappears after my yard and was just the water. I used to clean my house withall the windows open to get circulation, which is what I was doing in my dream. I looked up & saw a tsunami! I was totally freaking out & all I could do was close all the windows. I was debating if I should just go out & die, or if there was possibly a spot in the house that was safest or what. Basically occupying what I deemed my last moments being busy & trying to figure out step 2.
Unrealistically, I was able to close all the windows & doors. The wave was high up over my house, and I just stood up staring at it. It hit! But, basically it just splashed my patio & got my doors wet. As I think about this, I have no idea what happened beyond my own house. But I was relieved & at peace at that moment, then the dream ended.
I believe that it is definitely good to prep, alongside doing God's will to the best of your ability. You will have an amount of struggle, but in the end, you will be ok. Just a little bit effected compared to the disaster. I hope this was a little encouragement for the days ahead. It is important to care about others as best as you can, but take care of yourself too. I wish you well & pray for you. I only left this as encouragement👍

I recommend when storing grain or anything else in a bucket, to remember to mark all the sides and top of the bucket to make it easier, especially if buckets of food had to be transferred quickly to a different location.
I also recommend cutting out the directions from the bag the food was stored in, and put it in a Ziploc baggie or laminate the directions, and then secure it to the bucket. This way anyone who has the food will know how to cook it, just in case you pass away, or you're located in a different area.

@Angie Brooke Not if the food is free of pests when you put it in it's long term storage, and as long as you take reasonable precautions. If you're getting grain or cereals from the grocery store, put it in your freezer for a few days, then winnow to get any bugs out. The bugs will be dead and you can store the product safely.
Or try dry canning . Or freezing. Or buy stuff that's already prepped for long-term storage and make sure you rotate it and check the seals regularly.

I think for new preppers they need to know they need to worry about getting all they can and organizing later. My home is a disaster right now with preps everywhere and alot of things needed to be put in mylar bags, dehydrated or canned. Right now I could feel totally overwhelmed or realize not everything is going to expire just because it's in your house. That bag of rice can wait a week before it goes in mylar bags and those apples can still wait a day or two before I have to dehydrate them. I felt like everything had to be done yesterday when i first started til I calmed myself down and just did what actually has to be done first and just follow that logic. Just get it in your house and then calm down and do what you can without making yourself crazy. Just get it!
Thanks for the video. I'm sure there's alot of new preppers out there right now, seeing for the first time what's going on. Waking up can be scary..

Same. I never knew I was a prepper, I just bought in bulk when items were on sale Pre-2020. I don’t think I did toilet paper shopping until summer of 2020 because me and the preppers already had our supplies and ironically by summer of 2020 they were giving it away for FREE by me. 😂 so I stocked up again not only for me but I donated to the homeless shelter. Prepping isn’t about hoarding or running to the store when there is an emergency and taking from others it’s about being prepared for the emergency and being able to share with others. The most important thing you can have if things go down is all well read Bible and a physical copy to share.

There is a facet of prepping I never see anything about. A very important thing to think about and plan for so you have a better understanding what to do when disaster hits home. That is - you, and everyone else, WILL be disabled when disaster hits. You WILL be injured and not functioning anywhere near 100%. You may be physically injured, you may be in shock, maybe just profound sadness, maybe just confusion and being overwhelmed, but you will not be anywhere near fully capable. That is something which should not be ignored. There will not be any "time outs" to recover or regain composure. Written plans can help. Cross training could also help. Having equipment manuals ready to go can help. You know how to do everything, but what if you are broken and can't do anything? Does anyone else know what to do? Everybody will be disabled to some extent. When the time comes, this will be a huge factor in your survival.

Lost 75% of my prepps about a year ago (one of life's bump in the roads). I've just been getting a little bit here a little bit there ever since. I've focused on the basics. The electrical goods and the higher priced items have been the bigger problem, dehydrators cost double what I paid for the previous one for instance. I Try to do a little repurposing for some of the outdoor gear, read some of my reference books for skills and just hope it's enough. Please don't give up, it soon adds up.

It sounds like God prepared you for your storm and taught you in it. Even Jesus was led by God into storms but he was able to nap and took his authority over it when the time was right. You were never alone, God was not only with you then and with you now but he was with you before you lost your job and helped you to get ready for that. I’m sorry you had that difficult time, I pray that it grew you for better times. I pray that you’re growing confidently with an even better prep this time and also mercy to be able to help others out if needed. The most important thing you can do for a prep, and I said this in another post, but it’s true, be renewing the line daily and Scripture in Prayer. God is only good. He didn’t even create the evil, and one of God’s names is provider. If you’re listening to him it’s going to be a lot more peaceful as you go through things. Make sure you have a physical copy of the Bible. I’m feeling called to encourage you to read Ephesians. And I’m praying for you to have blessed relationships and peace. When you’re a child of God the Devil can be told to shove off. Really pay attention to win what’s really going on a spiritual. I read today that when you’re a friend of Jesus you listen and obey him. It’s important to have Jesus as a friend right now.

I have expanded my kit to last a few weeks (at least), and takes into account our dogs and elderly neighbors. I've found the dry-goods I purchased most recently (mid-2020) have tripled in price. TRIPLED! Holy molly. I don't suspect a real 9.0 hitting, but power outage (extended), flooding (has come close) or other... we're decently prepared. If the end of the world comes.. 1. Do a risk assessment- what is the most likely threat? where are you most vulnerable?
    2. Understand the core pillars of prepping:
Shelter, water, food, (survivability - inc fire, heat light) medical, waste, fuel, security, communication, mobility, community, repairability.
    3. Scalability, the rules of three, then redundancy, long term means once preps run out, ie longer term survivability & sustainability.
    4. Write your own SHTF game plan.
    5. Work the plan. (The most important bit of anything imho)? build skills and community.

A great way to start is with what you normally eat from the pantry, but buy extra. If you like a particular pasta and sauce don’t buy one set buy 3 and you’ll be surprised to see that the dates last years. something as simple as well stored rice, beans, and salsa are both a complete meal and something you can store for a few years. But don’t buy something like tuna, mayonnaise, peas, and shell noodles if you won’t eat it or donate it BEFORE the expiration date, if you like that, buy a few meals worth so your simply buying ahead of the need or shortage. The point of prepping is so that when everyone runs out to the store, you don’t need to. The number one thing to prep with is a physical copy of the Bible that you read each morning asking God for guidance. Prepping allows you to have enough for yourself in an emergency, and to be able to share with someone less prepared.

We live in the city but we garden and preserve and it's the same for us. We just did it because grandma did it and we enjoyed eating good for cheap.
I think so many women are thinking about this because we know if something goes down we can't go out and fight for resources. We spend a lot of time thinking about supplying and feeding our families anyway - I've always noticed that moms tend to notice when something is out or you've outgrown something, sometimes before you do! So women are used to planning ahead, to portioning supplies, etc. And the thought of 'what if we can't get to the store', I think sparks a wildfire in most women's minds. I know it did in mine!

I love that you emphasized there isn't a "one size fits all" plan for prepping. People often take that approach to every aspect in life, whereas that's usually the first step to failure. When it comes to prepping, you not only have to consider what food you will actually eat/be able to eat when SHTF, but also what foods will grow with little to no effort and no extra water (other than the typical rainfall in your zone). If you live in a mountainous area with rocky soil, more tropical foods like pineapple, yucca, hot peppers are likely not going to grow well, meanwhile wild elderberries, wild grapes, wild roses, some conifer seeds, and some berries grow well on their own and could sustain you. Learning which native birds and rodents are in your area are vital so you can build the appropriate traps; in most places, you can trap raccoons and crows, but you should also know if you get deer, quail, frogs, etc. Knowing the diversity of natural resources around you will be what truly saves you in the end. If you live in Idaho, don't expect to find flora and fauna native to Florida or Mexico or a coastal region to survive on.

Thank you for reminding me of 3,3,3. I'm so overwhelmed, under prepared and under funded. I have 3 months of pasta... Terrible start... But Walmart is always out so I stocked up over the last few months without realizing it. Lol

For non-perishable food check with local churches, charities, community centers & food banks. Get your water ready. Use empty cleaned and sanitized soda/juice bottles & ask friends/neighbors if you don't have any.

Great video Kris! I truly understood this week how much water I was really using every day after having to turn off water after a leak. I was fairly confident that I had enough, especially for only a day or so, and for the most part, yes, I was right. I had enough drinking water in 7 gallons containers and plenty of bottled water BUT I used a lot of water just flushing the toilet. And I realized that I was using half a water bottle just to wash my hands. And I did not even attempt to do the dishes during that time. All that to say, I thought I had enough but clearly, in a prolonged situation, it would not have been the case. Lesson learned though.

Hi, for emergency toilet: for #1 empty, rinsed fabric softener or detergent bottles with a wide opening, for #2 tear-resistant bin liners.
For hand cleaning and hygiene, wet wipes and disinfectants.
      Saves a lot of water.

Outdoor plants like human urine mixed with wood ash and water. Since water will probably be at a premium you could pour it on the ground at a distance from the plants or you could also use gray water to dilute it before pouring closer to plants.
For solid waste you could use soldier fly larvae, they exist on it and the adults soldier flies don't land on things and spread germs like regular flies. There are videos about this. If we have methods to turn liquid and solid waste into something beneficial for the earth this would take care of some major worries.

The one mistake I made, I made at the very beginning of my preparedness journey and it was a fairly large one. I went out and bought a 6,500 watt gas only generator, converted it to tri-fuel with a kit and then hooked it and my BBQ up to my natural gas line. Very happy with all that to this day, but wish I had of bought an inverter generator instead.

Thank you for training us for a new future based on the history of our world. Most of all (from a World War II American baby - now a great grandparent) - ADAPT to a selection of LESS. Life will return to the basic needed only. No more endless isles of different shampoos, cereals, meat and seafood, etc. Living by using less is not a bad life. It is a return to a frugal life with little to waste!

Hey Chris, thank you for this wonderful channel. The combination of practical advice combined with your calm demeanor and non-inflammatory approach to encouraging prepping makes it my absolute favorite in the category. Thank you for all of your time/efforts to bring us solid guidance. Have you read the book 'One Secon After'? I accidentally stumbled on it a few years ago - and at the time had never heard of an EMP, and all its likely repercussions. Out of all the 'what-if/dystopian/world catastrophe novels out there, this one is by far the most realistic, and it was overall great read, regardless of prepping mentality. The book was written based on 'what if' research done by the Pentagon.

I did an experiment about 1-2 years ago before I got intentional about being prepared. I wanted to see how long I could go without going to the store for food. 3 months later I still had a lot of food, but decided I missed some of my treat items like cheese and fresh things. Now I’m trying to learn about cheese storage, and tracking what I have and where. I’m planning for variety and canning fruits and veggies. My body can’t seem to handle meat, so I’m looking into ways to long term store some of my favorite veggie meats for a treat too. I don’t want to depend on my freezer.

Talk to your family about how everyone will get home and by when and what to do if people are delayed. I had a dream that it took me 6 months to get home after $%!7 happened but they were there and had survived. You don't want your family running around looking for you and putting themselves in further danger and if they are looking in the wrong places.
