Thank you for helping us rookies out. I have always been a surf fisherman but I have been kayak fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries for the past 4 years and this is my first fish finder. It can be very overwhelming trying to figure this thing out on my own . These vids certainly keep the anxiety down . To be honest , I am 62 yrs old and was really beginning to regret buying this . I was not raised with all this high tech gear they have today. I always " read the water " and watched for birds working etc etc. But , I was able to learn to use my new Iphone pretty darn well so I am hanging in there with the Striker. I only took it out once and that was when I first bought it. It showed the depth and temperature very well and did mark what I assumed were fish but I did not catch anything . I can always fall back on what has worked for me all my life . I have done well without one . But I want to be cool too ! Lololol. I am hitting the water in a little while and taking the Striker and my new found knowledge from the vids with me ! We'll see what happens . Thanks again.🐟🐟🐟

I am glad you found these videos helpful...I love seeing people learning how to get the most out of their fish finders. As for using it like live scope, the simple answer is no...the transducer will not work correctly . But you know I get this question a lot actually, so I might try to make a video showing why it does not work. The live scope is very different from the CV and requires a much higher end fish finder and special adapters to work. Live Scope is a very powerful sonar tool. As for shallow water, you are correct...I would say anything less than 3ft it gets tough with any fishfinder..but you are on the right track with adjusting the gain...but also take a look at your noise reduction options as well as they can make a huge impact in shallow or dirty water.

I had to look it up, but that's a pretty expensive RC Car, so I see why you would want to find it. It would really depend on what type of bottom the area has, if it is fairly flat, rocky or sandy, then it should show as a pretty hard return like a small anomaly on the bottom. (Something that looks a tad out of place) If the area is very weedy and full of vegetation, then it will be much harder without more advanced sonar likely.

Hi everyone so im having some trouble with alot of interference on my striker. So, i have two next to one another in a 2 man shanty, is this the main reason? I cant have 2 next to one another? Please help
Most likely yes, if the units and power cables are close they can have interference. I had this issue on my boat with power cables close on 2 fish finders...what you can do is separate them or they make a Iron (I think) ring that you run your power cords through and wrap them...this will help eliminate the interference...this is what I did. Look up Ferrite noise eliminators.
My garmin striker 4 only says chirp with no number hertz next to it..? And the other options are 150 200 and 240. So how many hertz is the option that only says chrip? I’m confused…
@@1Cast1Fish I figured it out. It was because I hadn’t plugged in the transducer yet. I was fixing all my settings before hitting the water to save time lol. I learned everything from your videos thank you @1cast1fish
Can anyone tell me how I can get my Garmin Striker to not completely freak out when I go over weeds? It's depth thing jumps up and down and/or it'll see 100 fish in one spot all of a sudden. I also seem to have some issues with phantom fish showing up at around 2m below my kayak. Pretty sure they're not real.
That is a issue with every fishfinder pretty much in any thick weeds. Because the mats are so thick, the sonar returns back off the weeds and the fishfinder thinks that that is the bottom. Happens on the Striker and the 2000+ Echomaps.
I seriously appreciate the amount of time you put into helping others with these videos!!!

Thank you
Hi everyone so im having some trouble with alot of interference on my striker.
Hi brother I'm asif from india I'm fisherman
Awesome...I bet you catch some cool fish in India
My garmin striker 4 only says chirp with no number hertz next to it..? And the other options are 150 200 and 240. So how many hertz is the option that only says chrip? I’m confused…
What Striker model do you have? What Transducer?
@@1Cast1Fish I figured it out. It was because I hadn’t plugged in the transducer yet. I was fixing all my settings before hitting the water to save time lol. I learned everything from your videos thank you @1cast1fish
Awesome glad you got it figured out.
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed
