      Nice video og good info..
      I was so close to buy the vivid 4cv but then you explained how small area the transducer covered (narrow beam) with clearVu ( 05:15 )
      And that really sucks..
      I have right now garmin striker 4 and was thinking to upgrade..
      What would you recommend with great area beam so I don’t miss any fish?? Can I buy garmin striker with clearVu with larger area beam ??

    I wonder if you could give me some advice? I have only had my Vivid 7cv for a few months and have not used it more than a few times. I recently dropped a trolling motor in about 6 foot of gator infested water so I'm not gonna jump in to find it lol. Could you take a few minutes to give me what you think would be my best setting for locating it. It is probably lying among some weeds and I believe the bottom is pretty soft. Thanks

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  Год назад +2

      Fishfinder may help, but if you know the exact spot, I would set up a hook and some rope and drag for it. Settings wise probably turn the gain up higher, possible to see it on CV as well. Motor likely has alot of metal on it, so that should be a stronger return.
      Then again, I hate gators, so I would just cut my loss :/

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  8 месяцев назад +1

      So fish ID is your issue, it does not guarantee a fish is there, it only takes the screen info it believes could be a fish and shows the icon. So what happens in when out of the water sometimes you will get noise and interference on the fish finder still...it just thinks this may be a fish...so it shows the icon. Hope this helps.

    • @1Cast1Fish

      Yes, surface noise should be off...if you filter out the surface noise you will most likely be missing fish if near the surface. TVG in most cases should be off or low for 15ft or less

      A: Keep in mind that the small screen is showing 100ft of depth on a 4" screen, small structure may only be a small dot when scaled.
      3. will clearvu able to capture deep sea structures? like around 650ft.
      A: Refer to #2 yes it can but depends on size of the structures...at 600ft they would need to be very large. In addition that depth would be pushing the capability of a Striker Series in CV

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  Год назад +1

      You can run 2 fish finders at the same time...heck I am running 3 now on my boat.
      Now IMO changing out 2 fishfinders between boats would be a bit of a pain...again my opinion (changing 1 is not to bad) I would either run one on each boat, or look at prices for a spare transducer and power cables from Garmin...prewire each boat then just switch the main units around. With a 14' and 10' boat, you won't get a ton of improvement from running 2 since the covered distance is not that wide...plus if the sonar cones intersect it could cause interference issues. (If set to same frequencies) A bit lengthy, but hope it sheds some light on the pros and cons

    I can’t seem to find help anywhere for this but hopefully you might know what’s going on. I have Striker 7SV on my kayak and I either get flashing depth when my range is on manual or a weird line going across the screen that’s stuck at 2 feet when I’m on auto range.
    I was crappie fishing in shallow water but my ClearVu just wasn’t working right. I did manual settings, auto settings, both frequencies and still I couldn’t get it to work. Any ideas what might be the issue? I have my transducer on a Yak Attack switchblade off to one side of my kayak.

      Really shallow water can sometimes cause issues for sonar, almost like to much going on in a small spot. Is the issue there in deeper water as well

    can it show the thermocline?

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  Год назад

      Yes, I prefer the traditional sonar for finding the thermocline...just remember all lakes don't have a thermocline so you may be looking for nothing. However....turn the gain up and it should look like a line of noise in the water column.

      You have to have a capable ClearVu model and the correct transducer, changing the transducer alone will not give you ClearVu

      @1Cast 1Fish can I ask you a no related question? I've been asked to be a co angler for a tournament in February. Do the catches I catch as a co angler count towards the boaters catches? Or do mine only count as a co angler? I'm asking because I want to understand the rules and ethics before fishing this way, I've only fished in kayak and Jon boat derbies until now.

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  Год назад +1

      Most tournaments have a set of written rules available for participants. However every tournament I have fished, the coangler is separated from the boater as far as fish and prizes.
      Now to be sure, some tournaments work with 2 person teams, meaning the best 5 from both of you will be weighed and it is up to you to split winnings.

    So kayaking on a river that runs 1-10ft with random pockets of depths to 25ft using vivid clearvu 800KHz would be no problems at all correct?
    Edit: I'm planning on buying a ERYY Lithium LiFePO4 12V 25Ah battery. Any idea how long I'll be able to run this set up on the river before needing to recharge? Only thing I have found so far is the Garmin uses 1amp when using gps.

    Why hasn't fishfinder manufacturers made a dual transducer fishfinder yet.
    Yes, two transducers, mounted on left and right side of the boat, then with some software magic join the two transducers together to make a 3D picture.
    So then you can tell the depth of the fish, which way its swimming, how far it is in any direction.
    A function it will have is the user can with a water proof gimble move around on the floor bed, look up towards the boat, scan around and see" the fish.
    The transducers work like two doppler antennas, just like those used to track and find stolen cars that have trackers in them.
    It's all about the signal returning to the transducers, depending on where the fish is, each ping will return at different times, thus creating a 3D map.
