When I germinate brassica seedlings or any plants that slugs love I sow them in small seed trays .I fill a large gravel tray with water and stand the small seed tray on top of a brick in the center of the larger tray making sure there is a good inch gap between the brick and sides of the gravel tray ..just like a castle surrounded by a moat ..the slugs won't cross the moat ...lol

In my experience Bolivian Giant Achocha fruits late September, early October, even if planted early. I am in West Sussex. The ' fat baby' have always been quite early.. You are now my source of vicarious gardening as a fall has led to my needing new hips. Glad to say I have never needed to protect against badgers! Cheers!

*JESSIE* try SOY SAUCE, butter, garlic on the swiss chard - the combination is really delicious. And O M G that peppermint chard is as beautiful as any flower! I grew a crimson/hot pink stemmed chard years ago and when the morning sun hit it, it GLOWED!! Were just getting into our growing season here in Sydney and I literally feel like a kid at Christmas. Ah, the many joys of growing veg! Cheers!

Wow, look at this peppermint chard! I definitely will put it on my garden wish list for 2024! Together with this giant beans!😮
Happy to see by the end of this video that you are already able to walk. Last weekend I also had a little accident in our allotment: i fell over something while running behind my 5 year old son, who has stolen my hand shovel (is it right? Not sure how its called in english as I am writing from Germany). Anyway...I feel with you and hope you are well by now.
Btw. since I mentioned last time that I wish you were showing how you cook your harvest I discover your cooking videos 😅! I didn't know about them as I am a new follower of your channel and already very impressed by your knowledge and your wonderful natural way of being a human. And gardener. And chef. And surely also a wonderful daughter.

Hey Jessie, Great bean harvest, I really like the domes you were using today. Those large chard leaves were magnificent. Maybe take the bubble wrap from the greenhouse and wrap yourself up. ???What is the Ococha ??? spelling?? I have been thinking of the Ananas Noir for a couple years now. The name sounds like the Nonnatus House in Call the Midwife. Maybe the Green Doctor will help your neck. We will be having four more days above 33° C this weekend at least one day 38° C. More than 30 days above 33° C this summer we average only 13 per summer. I will cross my fingers for your melons. Have a great week Cya next week

I had such an over abundance of broad beans from six 20 foot rows, that I have dried 15 pounds of them, as well as froze 10 half gallon bags of green ones. It was your channel that made me try growing them. I have a huge crop of tomatoes on the vine, ripening, and a good bunch of second planting of potatoes, but have struggled with a lot of things that we are usually successful growing. Just started the brassicas for the winter garden.

She said there's no merit in being sober!! 🤣🤣 I love the peppermint chard and being a 100% chard fan I will definitely grow this next year. My Lucullis and Fordhook and also Bright Lights have been brilliant. September already....it'll soon be Xmas lol Cheers Jessie!!

Jessie, if you put dry bean grains in the freezer for 7 days, then you can get them out of there, because the larva will die there in those days in the bean. And you can plant these seeds later. But it is important that the seed is dry before freezing. I'm about I have been growing beans for 20 years. Therefore, I am telling you a secret.
