I was so exited about this update, rushed in to play, put on a cute medieval song playlist, did the jousting and realised it literally took you 5 minutes and that was it. I'm so upset by this and can't believe they ditched the birthday event for this garbage.
Dude I agree. Love the idea, why couldn’t we just have everything with the one update! They still could have had the birthday event too! Yes and the castle is a wasted idea!! I appreciate they did this but it definitely is underwhelming. I have no idea what sso is doing! I miss events the way they use to be!

SSO purposefully releases new stuff bit by bit, because otherwise everyone would be done with everything in 3 days and the rest of the time the area would be a ghost city. SSO needs players to log in regularly. A solution would be to simply create 10 times more content AND also release further new content every Wednesday. But the problem is - SSO doesn't have the capacity for this.
I normally defend SSO but this one was so disappointing tbh. I was excited when I thought that this was the new birthday event, but knowing that it’s permanent is so heartbreaking and disappointing, they replaced something special for almost all players for something that’s staying in game forever. They should’ve released the birthday event as normal and this in November. And the fact that we only get to do one thing per day for an entire week? Absurd. I’m looking forward to seeing what else they will be adding in this area but the overall is really disappointing.
It's permanent? As in the medieval arena is staying in the game permanently? If it is, UGH. Why is SSO allergic to just leaving nice big open areas to explore!!! Like with Starshine Ranch being put down right in that big open area next to Firgrove, now the Forgotten Fields has a medieval arena in it.

Bro they hyped this up so much for 2 tiny quests and 1 race that literally took me 28 seconds. The updates (dripfeeding) in the next few weeks are literally just "buy more stuff!" Sucks that they removed the old birthday stuff for this - are the old tack and clothes now unavailable? Why the hell is this a permanent addition? Forgotten Fields was fine as is I don't know why SSO seems to think every area needs to be filled with stuff. Not to mention this takes away from the special-ness of the event itself to know it's always gonna be there and its completely unimmersive to have this f*cking LARPer camp stuck there permanently.
Honestly they should have waited with this event. Just give us a normal birthday update and like at the end of the year (or as much time as they need) they should release it together with that castle in Golden Hills. It would have been so amazing and such a shock! But now it just feels so boring.

@@akibawolfproductions well, in the ambassador discord a game master of sso confirmed it, the medieval market / arena will stay permanent so it doesn’t make it an event anymore since an event usually is temporary with its location.
@@ancienshi Dear lord, I can't believe you're listening to a Game Master versus listening to SSO directly. The event itself, which you level up with and gain rewards with, IS temporary. SSO has said absolutely NOTHING about the shops remaining, JUST the arena and tents area. Also the jousting aspect, will be returning next year, as was confirmed BY SSO on their IG. But after the event itself concludes, you will NOT be able to gain any further rewards from daily login and going to the arena. So yes, it IS an event which IS temporary. There've been plans for that location for years ever since they did the Forgotten Fields update. I can't believe people so quickly forgotten about that announcement.
@@akibawolfproductions there is no need to react so offensive to it. you know that game masters actually work for sso? and why would they confirm it, being a permanent market, in the ambassador discord where all the influencers and ppl who have close contact to sso are in? the medieval theme and the market will stay with its shops at this location, so as the horses and the dragon pets. sso even said it in their news about the pets and horses. no one forgot about sso wanting to work on the forgotten fields and updating it so as the stable over there but it doesn’t change the fact that the market and the location will stay permanently.
Ever since they started stretching their events across multiple release days, I’ve always thought it was a mistake. I don’t know why they continue to think it’s good idea to drip feed people content during limited events. And the baby dragons in particular- just why would wait so long to release the thing people want the most? Let people have their game of thrones wyverns! In fact why not make a bonding quest for your dragon? Let people choose an egg and have a small quest chain to hatch it where you have to do things for a week or something. Then it will feel special
i agree so much, as an older player this is just shocking. they hype this up so much only for it to be so sad. i was legit expecting a bit more than 2 horses a 2 second quest and a basic boring race... idk sso is for sure going downhill. the only good thing coming this month is the dragons and stable custom on the 25th. thats legit the only thing thats good
I’m already dreading those two updates. I wouldn’t be shocked if the dragons are just pets you can keep in the bag, and the stable update being something so simple like changing colors.

The company’s financial situation isn’t looking too good. I’m honestly worried for the state of the game- they got too comfortable being greedy and not listening to their players. They don’t realize no one cares about pretty new horses if there’s nothing to do with them besides train. But that’s just my opinion. 🤷🏼♀️
They had so much potential, kinda disappointed cuz I would’ve preferred a “full” update. It feels like when a RUclipsr makes a “this is the end of this video part one, come back next week for part two” and leaves a cliffhanger. Just give what u promised!?!
I saw the thumbnail and LITERALLY SAMEEEE! Like this could've been a whole questline or there could have been a event where players from different houses get to compete with each other and work with players in their own houses to achieve goals, but NOPE. It's literally just new outfits and props to take pictures with 💀Like don't get me wrong, the jousting looks cool, but that's literally the ONLY thing you can do here, and since it looks like in the following weeks we're only getting more outfits and horses, that's actually pretty disappointing :/

And the fact that they didn’t even do ANYTHING for non star riders is so sad, like yeah sure we got a week long star rider code but that’s it. And once the exciting stuff finally comes into the game, we won’t be able to redeem it anymore. Wasted potential
I really didn"t enjoy bday updates so I'm happy they changed things up this year. I love the whole idea of a medieval event but besides taking cool photos and daily jousting there's not much to do wchich sucks. I wish we could have some quests with all the houses and get to know them a bit better. I would love to see an ongoing story about a rivalry between them or something like that. The jousting was so hyped up and it's just another typical race. I was sure that we would at least have to click space or smth to hit the targets :p I like this update a lot and I will be wearing these armors all the time but man, they could do so much better
i did ask sso if they would do more stuff with this area and they said they would keep updating it, so possibly more stuff to do, more dailies, bigger area etc! this is just the beginning basically but it does feel underwhelming,, but i get that they need to spread it across three weeks so they have time to work on more things like the inventory update and stuff but yea :((
SSO really said happy birthday to us! Here, have some cash grabs and this recycled birthday cake slice from several years ago!! None of the cake slices have been the same, every year they are different, except this year. And no huge cake on display anywhere. I am REALLY upset about that cake. I'm really upset about the lack of things to do too, I came for a celebration and to stab people and this is what I get? 7 seconds of boring and definitely not interactive gameplay that I'm expected to log on daily for? Fantastic. Just lovely.
I was so excited about this update, and I’m glad it’s a permanent area. But like there was barely anything to do, I liked the jousting. But sso should have expanded on that idea, like we should have jousting matches versus other players too, knocking people off the horse with a fun animation. That is what I was expecting and could have been so cool with so much potential. This update really had almost nothing to do, I was done with the content in like 5 min as well :/. Also waiting for the dragons sucks lol, I want that pet now haha
I think it would've been perfect that this be a yearly event. I think a great way to make the houses important is by having them compete for some type of reward at the end of the event. I think this would get players actually wanting to compete and choose their house wisely.

I was so excited to put the house tack on my Percherons. Guess which one of the breeds can't wear the house tack? This was a popular breed irl for jousting. I hope next year the horse tack will fit better on them. (And for the love of horses, I hope SSO doesn't re-release them. The current ones are gorgeous and if anything just need more of the well-done coats.)
Just an FYI for those who don’t know there are plenty of great horse mods for Skyrim, in case you want a medieval fantasy game with action, an actual plot, and an immersive world instead of this overpriced horse dress up simulator. My favorite is “light horses of Skyrim with realistic bodies and fur” on nexus mods, there’s another one that makes the draft horses more realistic as well called “immersive horses.” There are many more mods that add a bunch of tack options, and also the ‘convenient horses’ mod adds a training point system similar to sso and lets your followers have horses too. Another medieval themed game that has realistic mounted combat is kingdom come deliverance, I’ve had a lot of fun playing as a mounted archer in that game. There are also some great horse mods for Witcher 3 that allow you to have a bunch of coat customization options plus the vanilla game already has a lot of great horse armor and tack options if you like the dress up aspect of sso. And that’s just the beginning of the many fantasy rpgs I can think of where I can get my horse fix that don’t eat a massive hole in your wallet just to collect endless different varieties of useless horses, pets, and items. At this point I only log in to star stable occasionally for nostalgia reasons, it’s so boring it’s hard to spend more than 5 mins at a time playing it.
If anyone is interested I can share my skyrim equestrian mod load order, I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out how to make as many horse mods as possible work together for the ultimate Skyrim equestrian experience 😅
People were fighting me over this on behalf of sso how this would be the new birthday event, and how it's okay that they removed the birthday event. But now there's nothing. Literally nothing. No event, no actual rewards, no gameplay, just a reskinned race. A new area? Awesome. New clothes and horses? Great! But this isn't an entertaining addition to the game. I can just grind it out over the span of a couple days, like any other quest in this game, then never touch the area again. Soooo saad.

It seems like sso don't know how to do interesting/fun quests now. When they give us quests at all, they're incredibely simple (even for childs), short and just boring. They're now better at making cosmetics like horses, clothes, pets, even furnitures and environments, but what's the point if it's all empty of actual gameplay and we have to create ourselves the things to do with those ? Idk if they even notice the problem, but it's so obvious and they still continue to do it by taking away the few event that we had (the rainbow festival and now their own birthday ??? why ???) to the point where it's worrying for the future of the game I'm hopeful since months bcs there's so much potential with this game and it matters to me, I think Denis feels kinda the same, and probably a lot of you too, but we can't just be hopeful eternally if sso is like auto destroying itself in front of us for no reason lol
I understand having 52 updates a year is hard. But like... this is not it? Wrong placement. Nothing to do if you're not a rollplayer, no dragons while It's a hype right now... just milking everything. Would've loved more quests, missions, maybe a bazaar... just something expect one race you can do daily for a point😐
this update was extremely disappointing, i pledged to the wolves, did the race and it glitched out so i didn't get my pledge point. They ditched the birthday event (which was perfectly fine) for this permanent "event". They even wasted the goldenleaves castle, its a better location as it already has a pre built castle putting it in the forgotten fields is so random 💀💀
I was so confused. I thought I am missing something. There is no way this whole hyped up medieval event is just one race you can do once a day. And turns out it is. I am so disappointed. The only good thing is, that the dragons are cute and the armor looks good. At least the artists did their job, while the quest designers slept.

So I wanted to weigh in on some of the negativity that is surrounding the semi birthday event which was dropped today. A few things to keep in mind; This is my opinion based on real world knowledge and experience. I have 10 years of knowledge and experience in the Medieval industry as a whole. I not only worked at a Medieval based company but was trained by another. 1) Why did they "hype" this event up when there's only one thing to do?: The easy answer to this is Rein Faires generally do not generate much interest unless you're apart of that "community". Rein Faire goers often take months to a whole year preparing for each Rein event. Trust me when I say, we hype these real world events up to no end, otherwise, there's literally next to no income from them. Many people will even forgo one event in favor of another, bigger one simply because their costume may not be ready. 2) Why didn't they use the castle? Everything would of fit in there!: No it wouldn't. Jousting arenas back in Medieval times were massive. They only looked small but were in fact, quite big and were placed outside of the castle's walls and out in a large field, often used to graze cattle. What you see, is 100% accurate. Medieval Times Dinner & a Theater have to take extreme measures to make sure our knights, horses, and guests are kept safe during jousting events, making certain that when lances break and or shatter, no one gets hurt. While you may think having such an event inside is all hunky dorey because you're not getting baked by the sun or soaked by the rain/snow, these events take months of careful planning. Events are carefully choregraphed to make sure no one gets hurt. Trust me when I say, if a piece of a shattered lance were to slam into you, you WOULD be going to a hospital for emergency surgery to have it removed. Think of a shattering lance like a bullet being fired from a gun - the impact is similar. So no, the castle wouldn't of been a good choice and historically speaking, very rarely were events held within the castle's walls. 3) Why couldn't they include other events!?: Jousting IS the main event for most if not all Rein Faires. Keep in mind knights spend years working with their horses and preparing themselves and their gear. Lances have to be specially made to make sure they break/shatter at certain points, to minimize risk of injury to both riders and their mounts as well as the crowds. Jousting in of itself, is a highly dangerous sport where only a few farms now train horses specifically for these events and those farms, as mentioned, are very few and far between. To include all the other events that often happened at a Medieval Rein Faire, such as mounted archery, etc, would take so much coding mechanics that only those with high end computers/cell phones, would be able to play. SSO has made certain, all can play with this simple event. 4) It's permanent though! Why should I continue for the rewards!?: The location is permanent, the event is not. This is why reading the news posted by SSO is so very important. This has been the BIGGEST piece of misinformation being spread by multiple SSO RUclipsrs and it honestly, needs to stop. SSO has never stated the event itself would be permeant, just the location. 5) There was more things to do with previous years birthday events! This one took me all of 5 minutes to complete!: Annnnd it still only took you 5 minutes to complete previous years more often than not, badly bugged events, events which saw us with repeated events with zero variety to them, and often recolored gear. I can remember the first birthday event I did, with the race happening in Greendale, being so badly bugged, I wasn't able to complete and SSO not only knew about it, they never fixed it. At least with this event, it's one race, not bugged, and if it does get bugged, it's much easier to fix the code, then sift through hours upon hours of code trying to fix one thing. And may I point out, we have always complained that the birthday events of years prior were; boring, lacking, disappointing, etc? So SSO does something new, annnnd it's the same complaints? Did I miss a memo that said "be grateful for what you get." Cause if I did -insert forwarding address here- please resend that memo to me plz. Also, I might point out, that SSO HAS stated more events are coming next week. What those events are, no one knows. So why not enjoy the current location while you can.
You make a fair argument! I think the main issue I have with the arena being in forgotten is for story purposes. I believe in the quest where we help maya it is revealed that the forgotten fields was owned by her family. That is my main concern is how SSO will continue that storyline. Overall I do enjoy this update and im hoping this could be an Easter egg towards the castle in golden.

SSO really said happy birthday to us! Here, have some cash grabs and this recycled birthday cake slice from several years ago!! None of the cake slices have been the same, every year they are different, except this year. And no huge cake on display anywhere. I am REALLY upset about that cake. I'm really upset about the lack of things to do too, I came for a celebration and to stab people and this is what I get? 7 seconds of boring and definitely not interactive gameplay that I'm expected to log on daily for? Fantastic. Just lovely.
I was so excited about this update, and I’m glad it’s a permanent area. But like there was barely anything to do, I liked the jousting. But sso should have expanded on that idea, like we should have jousting matches versus other players too, knocking people off the horse with a fun animation. That is what I was expecting and could have been so cool with so much potential. This update really had almost nothing to do, I was done with the content in like 5 min as well :/. Also waiting for the dragons sucks lol, I want that pet now haha
I think it would've been perfect that this be a yearly event. I think a great way to make the houses important is by having them compete for some type of reward at the end of the event. I think this would get players actually wanting to compete and choose their house wisely.

I was so excited to put the house tack on my Percherons. Guess which one of the breeds can't wear the house tack? This was a popular breed irl for jousting. I hope next year the horse tack will fit better on them. (And for the love of horses, I hope SSO doesn't re-release them. The current ones are gorgeous and if anything just need more of the well-done coats.)
There are also SO many jousting events that arent just the spinning quintaine. They really did nothing with it

Just an FYI for those who don’t know there are plenty of great horse mods for Skyrim, in case you want a medieval fantasy game with action, an actual plot, and an immersive world instead of this overpriced horse dress up simulator. My favorite is “light horses of Skyrim with realistic bodies and fur” on nexus mods, there’s another one that makes the draft horses more realistic as well called “immersive horses.” There are many more mods that add a bunch of tack options, and also the ‘convenient horses’ mod adds a training point system similar to sso and lets your followers have horses too.
Another medieval themed game that has realistic mounted combat is kingdom come deliverance, I’ve had a lot of fun playing as a mounted archer in that game. There are also some great horse mods for Witcher 3 that allow you to have a bunch of coat customization options plus the vanilla game already has a lot of great horse armor and tack options if you like the dress up aspect of sso. And that’s just the beginning of the many fantasy rpgs I can think of where I can get my horse fix that don’t eat a massive hole in your wallet just to collect endless different varieties of useless horses, pets, and items.
At this point I only log in to star stable occasionally for nostalgia reasons, it’s so boring it’s hard to spend more than 5 mins at a time playing it.
If anyone is interested I can share my skyrim equestrian mod load order, I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out how to make as many horse mods as possible work together for the ultimate Skyrim equestrian experience 😅

People were fighting me over this on behalf of sso how this would be the new birthday event, and how it's okay that they removed the birthday event. But now there's nothing. Literally nothing. No event, no actual rewards, no gameplay, just a reskinned race. A new area? Awesome. New clothes and horses? Great!
But this isn't an entertaining addition to the game. I can just grind it out over the span of a couple days, like any other quest in this game, then never touch the area again. Soooo saad.

It seems like sso don't know how to do interesting/fun quests now. When they give us quests at all, they're incredibely simple (even for childs), short and just boring. They're now better at making cosmetics like horses, clothes, pets, even furnitures and environments, but what's the point if it's all empty of actual gameplay and we have to create ourselves the things to do with those ? Idk if they even notice the problem, but it's so obvious and they still continue to do it by taking away the few event that we had (the rainbow festival and now their own birthday ??? why ???) to the point where it's worrying for the future of the game
I'm hopeful since months bcs there's so much potential with this game and it matters to me, I think Denis feels kinda the same, and probably a lot of you too, but we can't just be hopeful eternally if sso is like auto destroying itself in front of us for no reason lol

this update was extremely disappointing, i pledged to the wolves, did the race and it glitched out so i didn't get my pledge point. They ditched the birthday event (which was perfectly fine) for this permanent "event". They even wasted the goldenleaves castle, its a better location as it already has a pre built castle putting it in the forgotten fields is so random 💀💀

I was so confused. I thought I am missing something. There is no way this whole hyped up medieval event is just one race you can do once a day. And turns out it is. I am so disappointed.
The only good thing is, that the dragons are cute and the armor looks good. At least the artists did their job, while the quest designers slept.

no no, be a buzzkill cuz im so tired of ppl pretending this is the "coolest thing ever WOW" when in reality, ALL the things players want are gonna show up at the END of the month ffs. I cant get my white fri since they botched the old ones and had to re do them AGAIN, i cant buy the dragons AND worst of all, the 2 LITERAL DRAGON HORSES cant even wear the new tack since they decided to update the fri models like wtf??? Plus the dragon fri are coming back but as of rn, we dont know if they are getting a remodel and if they dont (which they SHOULD) they'll be no point in getting them since they cant wear the new tack anyway. bruh im so mad, i just wanted my dragons and now im just grinding firefly's since we literally cant do anything >:[

So I wanted to weigh in on some of the negativity that is surrounding the semi birthday event which was dropped today. A few things to keep in mind;
This is my opinion based on real world knowledge and experience. I have 10 years of knowledge and experience in the Medieval industry as a whole. I not only worked at a Medieval based company but was trained by another.
1) Why did they "hype" this event up when there's only one thing to do?: The easy answer to this is Rein Faires generally do not generate much interest unless you're apart of that "community". Rein Faire goers often take months to a whole year preparing for each Rein event. Trust me when I say, we hype these real world events up to no end, otherwise, there's literally next to no income from them. Many people will even forgo one event in favor of another, bigger one simply because their costume may not be ready.
2) Why didn't they use the castle? Everything would of fit in there!: No it wouldn't. Jousting arenas back in Medieval times were massive. They only looked small but were in fact, quite big and were placed outside of the castle's walls and out in a large field, often used to graze cattle. What you see, is 100% accurate. Medieval Times Dinner & a Theater have to take extreme measures to make sure our knights, horses, and guests are kept safe during jousting events, making certain that when lances break and or shatter, no one gets hurt. While you may think having such an event inside is all hunky dorey because you're not getting baked by the sun or soaked by the rain/snow, these events take months of careful planning. Events are carefully choregraphed to make sure no one gets hurt. Trust me when I say, if a piece of a shattered lance were to slam into you, you WOULD be going to a hospital for emergency surgery to have it removed. Think of a shattering lance like a bullet being fired from a gun - the impact is similar. So no, the castle wouldn't of been a good choice and historically speaking, very rarely were events held within the castle's walls.
3) Why couldn't they include other events!?: Jousting IS the main event for most if not all Rein Faires. Keep in mind knights spend years working with their horses and preparing themselves and their gear. Lances have to be specially made to make sure they break/shatter at certain points, to minimize risk of injury to both riders and their mounts as well as the crowds. Jousting in of itself, is a highly dangerous sport where only a few farms now train horses specifically for these events and those farms, as mentioned, are very few and far between. To include all the other events that often happened at a Medieval Rein Faire, such as mounted archery, etc, would take so much coding mechanics that only those with high end computers/cell phones, would be able to play. SSO has made certain, all can play with this simple event.
4) It's permanent though! Why should I continue for the rewards!?: The location is permanent, the event is not. This is why reading the news posted by SSO is so very important. This has been the BIGGEST piece of misinformation being spread by multiple SSO RUclipsrs and it honestly, needs to stop. SSO has never stated the event itself would be permeant, just the location.
5) There was more things to do with previous years birthday events! This one took me all of 5 minutes to complete!: Annnnd it still only took you 5 minutes to complete previous years more often than not, badly bugged events, events which saw us with repeated events with zero variety to them, and often recolored gear. I can remember the first birthday event I did, with the race happening in Greendale, being so badly bugged, I wasn't able to complete and SSO not only knew about it, they never fixed it. At least with this event, it's one race, not bugged, and if it does get bugged, it's much easier to fix the code, then sift through hours upon hours of code trying to fix one thing. And may I point out, we have always complained that the birthday events of years prior were; boring, lacking, disappointing, etc? So SSO does something new, annnnd it's the same complaints? Did I miss a memo that said "be grateful for what you get." Cause if I did -insert forwarding address here- please resend that memo to me plz.
Also, I might point out, that SSO HAS stated more events are coming next week. What those events are, no one knows. So why not enjoy the current location while you can.

You make a fair argument! I think the main issue I have with the arena being in forgotten is for story purposes. I believe in the quest where we help maya it is revealed that the forgotten fields was owned by her family. That is my main concern is how SSO will continue that storyline. Overall I do enjoy this update and im hoping this could be an Easter egg towards the castle in golden.
