In this video I drive down Winsor, Ontario, Canada to meet up with Superfan Sean M at his favourite restaurant called Smoke N Spice Southern BBQ. Sean had a very bad year in 2019. He was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme which is a cancer tumor in the brain. Glioblastoma, also known as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), is the most aggressive cancer that begins within the brain. Initially, signs and symptoms of glioblastoma are nonspecific. They may include headaches, personality changes, nausea, and symptoms similar to those of a stroke. Worsening of symptoms often is rapid, and may progress to unconsciousness. Sean had the tumor successfully removed in March 2019 and has been recovering ever since.

About Smoke N Spice
The first Smoke & Spice was a tiny hole-in-the wall in Windsor, Ontario. It was just off the corner of Gladstone Avenue and Ottawa Street, a fitting spot for barbeque’s Canadian debut. The year was 2008, and we figured it was long past time that Canadians got a tasted of the legendary barbeque perfected by generations of pitmasters in the deep south. We hauled up a Southern Pride smoker with the capacity to smoke up to 1,300 pounds of meat in one go. We found a local source of maple, to give things a Canadian twist. We obsessed over our secret rub and barbeque sauces. Then we cooked up a menu unlike any other in the Great White North, fired up the smoker and started turning out some of Canada’s best pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken. Our family, friends and neighbours loved it, just like we hoped they would. Smoke & Spice became a hometown favourite for families, hockey teams and friends relaxing over a few beers, just like we imagined it would be. Now we’re bringing authentic southern barbeque to the rest of Canada. We know you’ll love it, too.
Harley is the mascot for Smoke and Spice, and the patron saint of the Hawg Bar. He’s the hawg behind our spectacular premium caesars - Harley’s Favourites - and the one who inspired us to sponsor community motorcycle rides for charity. How did this special pig get his name? We held a colouring contest and asked local kids what we should call him. Harley was the most popular choice by far, and we think it suits him perfectly.
For those who don't know the landscape of Ontario, this is roughly a 10 hour round trip from Ken's town to Sean's. Wow, this is simply amazing. Thanks Ken for capturing this moment with Sean. 🇨🇦🚗🇨🇦

Bless Sean’s heart. So sad to hear what he’s been through. I’m 24, and was diagnosed with an extremely rare liver disease, kidney disease, chronic leukaemia, and had a stroke all before I was 18. I understand how tough it can be! Sending him all the love 💓

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer back in June of 2013. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with cancer on January 21st, 2017. But you, Sean are very lucky to be here today. You're a fighter! Don't let cancer take over!

I come here to watch Ken eat all the things I cant. I eat low fat plant based and totally love my food, but I still remember the days of eating meat and dairy with some of my loved ones who have passed on. I have no problem with people eating like this and to each his own. At the same token I hope others can understand I had no choice but to make changes in my food choices for my health. Wishing you well Ken and many more years of eating experiences.

Sean is truly a fighter ! My older brother has the same cancer as Sean did. Unfortunately with my brother the tumor is in a part of the brain where it's very difficult to remove (basically if they did, his chance of surviving aren't good) So he's confined to a nursing home. He doesn't remember a lot, but he remembers his family and his cat. He doesn't have full use of his body. Only thing doctors can do to comfort him is to drain the fluid around the tumor when it builds up. F*** Cancer !

I appreciate YOU too Ken as with a cancer diagnoses myself and not much to do but lay in bed and hope the side effects go away one being no appetite its great to watch you do challenges and eat food. Who would have thought you eating at different places could be so interesting. I especially enjoyed the biggest truck stop in America and you giving us a guided tour and the buffet was something else.
So thank you for your videos as they help me pass the time while i recover and hopefully get to enjoy the same food and please do more videos in the states as we've got so many different restaurants it's endless fun.

@@chronicpainisntmyidentity I am doing okay shortly after this video I ended up having to go back to the hospital I had a VP shunt surgically placed in behind my right ear due to having too much spinal fluid on the right ventricle of the brain which was leading to having serious seizures. Little by little we have it under control now. I appreciate all the kind words and I hope you're doing okay too

Man I remember having to go to the hospital and being stuck with a couple thousand dollar bill. Didn't have any money, no job and was constantly hounded by the ambulance company to pay up. They did not give a shit if I had no job, no money, all they wanted was to be paid roughly $2,500 for their overpriced taxi ride across town. Feels bad going to the hospital for health problems and even worse when you get fucked in the ass by the medical bills.

Hi Ken. I loved this video and Sean's progress and healing. I can relate in a way but not to the extreme of brain cancer. I had Arthodesis surgery on my left ankle with several tendon transfers and a heal tendon release. I have hemiplegia cerebral palsy. Sean makes me want to shut up. What a journey he went thru. I am proud of him. By the way I live in Kansas City and while Smoke & Spice looks incredible. Down here my favorite is Jack Stack BBQ.
