So I know everyone has their own opinions on this show and I’m in children’s theater too and I’m ten years old but from experience I know a LOT of work was put into this show! They are only children and it takes TONS of money to put on a show like this! I just did Mary Poppins Jr and to put the show on was as much as a NEW CAR! Like a nice one! The whole point is to have fun with it and they are not on Broadway! They are not billionaires they are a lot of times NON profit! So whatever you say please don’t be mean because I have cried after shows thinking OMG people hated it or I made a mistake!! Soo ya
umm still we did alice in wonderland and plays are not that much and i am in high school and te highest it cost is about $100 and that is very cheap and we got to be on the news the next day
@@hannathompson9345 There is NO possible way that your production cost only $100. Unless your drama teacher was using bootleg copies of the scripts and everyone wore costumes from stuff you already had in your drama department inventory, I teach in our local high school and am the director for our community's children's summer theater program. Do you realize that it costs in the neighborhood of $1100 to get the production license and the showkit from MTI alone? Add on $75 for the right to videotape it (not to be sold at a profit). If you did a Disney MTI Alice in Wonderland show and did not pay for it, your school and drama coach broke the law and could be prosecuted for that. There are steep fines for stealing copyrighted work. In some places they do pay money to make costumes, props, and set designs. There is also payroll. If you do a play at school, that's covered because the drama coach is a teacher with a salary. But even non-profits pay their director and some of their staff if they can. Our troupe must pay rental fees to the high school for use of their stage and auditorium. We are fortunate that the drama coach there is on our board of directors, so she brings her tech students in for us to run the show and prepare sets, props, and do the sound and lights at no charge. They get school community service hours for that. When our Jr. and Sr. high drama troupes do a play, they project the cost up on a screen so the audience can appreciate how much everything costs. There are other sources for play scripts, and sometimes they're not too expensive. But the very cheapest production I've seen at the high school was $350, and it was a minimalist presentation of the material. Plus they already have a huge wardrobe and prop department so they don't have to buy stuff. Our summer theater program runs about $11,000, and we only charge the kids $40 for the camp. You might want to actually ask your drama coach how much plays cost. You could be surprised.
Thanks for the reminder, Keegan. I direct a summer children's theater program and I get very upset with the people who criticize these productions. You are absolutely right; plays cost a lot of money (although some costs can be reduced by using volunteer help and doing costumes and props with things from thrift stores or sewn by parents). Don't ever take these trolls seriously! They are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves for being bullies. I hope no child takes these comments personally! A kid could really become emotionally damaged because they don't have the ability to say "Oh you're a troll. Go away. We did fine and we had fun." I hope you continue on in theater!
Tbh if I was int he audience I would be confused, a lot of the parts were cut off
