Oh my gosh. Grandad is so cute! ❤ my own grandad was a miserable mean hateful man who never smiled, so if it’s okay, I’m just gonna “adopt” you as my online grandad. Thank you for making me smile! Love from America!
Who would have thought watching a 91 year old British gentleman eat could be so entertaining. He such a dear soul. Glad he can still get around and has all his marbles. Hope he knows the lord. I'll see him on the other side someday 😊
It's actually PaPaw. Florida girl here. Can't get more Southern than that. Born, raised & still here. My ancestors are from England, though. My maiden name is Harker. Very English, I'm told. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Another easy option for the crust for a pot pie is to use puff pastry. It’s so good. The first time I had colitis many years ago, my husband (my boyfriend, at the time) took care of me. I ate only chicken broth for 2 weeks, and then he made me homemade chicken pot pie using puff pastry. It was so delicious. My mama used to make chicken pie with a lattice top, all homemade. I was blessed with a mother and 2 grandmothers who were all great cooks, plus my husband. I suppose I’m not too bad either, but I had wonderful teachers. 💕
that singing lights up my life and unlike other so called modern singers I can’t get enough of his -B word and as for his new bib it’s so cute it gets 💋 kisses all over ❤💋
I love creamed spinach! AND I LOVE Grandpa Joe!!! He's such a doll! I'm a Southern gal, born and raised. As such, there are two things that concern me. Biscuits shouldn't be quite so hard. Firm like a roll maybe, but not so hard. And was that tiny amount spinach ... was that packaged in the United States??? 😮😮😮
Grandad Joe is such a charmer. He can sing and I'm sure that he and his late wife were great dancers. He is such an all around gentleman and Bab's you're wonderful to him. Always sweet and always cheerful with him. You have a lovely relationship.
I love him! I really thank him for all the compliments on Southern dishes. I'm from Arkansas and I just I love watching him enjoy our cookin'. God bless him. And he's very handsome, I might add. That smile - oh, my. He's just as charming as any of our Southern gents. .
Hiya Grandad and Babs, from Chicagoland! Re low iron: when I’d the same issue, my old school doctor recommended one big hamburger every week. It didn’t hurt that I loved pub burgers, lol! Take care! You both bring joy to so many people! ❤️
Omgosh 😊 I love your enthusiasm for good food and family... your sense of humor is bang on... and your songs are proper bostin... ❤❤❤ fr Murphy Farm in CB NS 🇨🇦 🍁 🫂 Love to you as well, Lovely Wendy 😊
Does well with an upside-down fork, as do most Brits and Europeans. I never got the hang of the method. Wonder if I could learn if I start eating some British specialties... like Plum Pudding, Toad-in-the-Hole, Bubble and Squeak, Beans on Toast, or some other things I've never tried. Lol. I'm so clumsy. I'd need one of Grandad's dapper bibs. 😊 Happy New Year 🎉🥳, Granddad Joe, Babs, and family! Thanks for the joy you share. God bless you! God bless us, everyone! ❤️🙋🇬🇧🇺🇸🌍🌎🌏🕊️🙏
IF JOE LIKES HAMBURGERS MAKE HIM ONE FROM AUSTRALIA YOU SEEM TO ALWAYS MAKE HIM TASTE AMERICAN FOOD... MEAT PATTY, FRIED EGG, BACON, BEETROOT, SLICED TOMATO, PINEAPPLE, CHEESE, LETTUCE, TOMATO SAUCE CUT IT IN HALF FOR HIM TO EAT. AUSSIES LOVE IT 😋😋😋😋😋
@MurphyFarm2014 I just subscribed to your channel your dog is funny our dogs like cookies too. 😋🍪 We used to have 9 dogs but they sadly passed from old age we have 2 now Buster he's a border collie like in picture and Missy who we rescued from the pound.
Babs I think you should try a tuna casserole next. And see how he likes it... They're made with tuna, cream of chicken, egg noodles and peas... I like to also put Green olives in mine and I always season it with a little Dill... Also, to help him increase his red blood cells, you should give him more vitamin C... Like kiwis, tangerines and oranges... They attract iron in the body. You can also drink wheatgrass juice as well...
I just love Dada and you are a awesome daughter that is how everyone should treat their parents whole Heartedly unconditional love texting from New Zealand
Love from Virginia, USA. Both of your chipper personalities and wit always brightens up my day! God bless you both! ❤️ (My dad was called PawPaw by grandchildren. I think it’s mostly a southern affectionate term.)
Grand dad is precious. I don't live in Alabama but I am southern, you might want to try pinto beans and cornbread. That is a staple in the south, stay strong and healthy granddad and enjoy yourself.
I enjoy the variety of bibs. Had to laugh when you said it was fetching. When my mom said that she'd add "But I'd hate to tell you what it would fetch"
How can he be so adorable!? I love how polite and enthusiastic about everything he is. And I love how open you are to trying new recipes. You are both great and I pray you each have a wonderful and healthy and happy New Year!
I love these people come not least because I know that I will never have any one to take as good care of me As Babs takes care of Granddad Joe. you warm my heart. god bless you both, and may you start using a few of the recipes for New England instead of the SOUTH (although Southern recipes are really really tasty). Maybe try New England style clam chowder Or battered and fried codfish cakes. In any case God bless you both.
I just found your channel and it is so nice getting to watch Grandad Joe. He has a lovely singing voice! Hearing the sweet phrases he uses touches my heart because it reminds me of my Yorkshire partner that I lost a few years ago. I am glad he is enjoying the American dishes, and it looks like you are doing a great job preparing them. Another American friend from the Deep South - Mississippi. Happy New Year to you all!
Love the bibs. Where do you get them at? I will have to look here in the MN. Was wondering if you ever had Tater Tot hotdish? I'm from MN in the North of the US and that is the hotdish of MN.
This is a man who likes to eat and knows what he likes to eat. Fantastic to see him enjoying a pot pie and that spinach look scrumptious. Here is something if you want to try, red beans and rice, Louisiana cuisine. Red beans and rice. 0.45 kg dry Red kidney beans, soaked, picked, and drained 1 Green bell pepper(capsicum for the spiffy grandad) small dice 1 Large yellow onion small dice 2 celery stalks/sticks small dice 30mL minced garlic 1.42 L water 2 bay leaf ½ teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper powder 1 teaspoon dried or fresh plucked thyme ¼ teaspoon ground sage 1 tablespoon parsley finely minced 1 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning (see recipe below) 0.45 kg Andouille sausage sliced or cubed how you like. 475mL Long grain white rice 950mL water ------------------------ To prepare the Cajun Seasoning: 2 ½ tablespoons paprika 2 tablespoons salt 2 tablespoons garlic powder 1 tablespoon black pepper 1 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon dried leaf oregano 1 tablespoon dried thyme Mix together thoroughly. ---------------------------- To prepare the beans: Take your beans and soak them in water over night, pick out any stones or beans that float. Once soaked properly drain the water and set aside onions, peppers, celery, and garlic put them in a 4+ litre pan to sautee until tender. Fun fact in Louisiana they do not have carrot in their mirepoix, instead they use the green bell pepper for the carrot and call the mix holy trinity. Pour your soaked and picked beans along with the 1.42 L of water into the pan with the trinity. Add your spices and bayleaf and bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer and simmer for 2½ Hours. Add your sausage, stir, and simmer for an additional 30 minutes. ------------------------- To prepare the rice: Rinse your rice with cold water from the tap by swishing it and pouring it out till the water is clear when you pour Pour the 950mL of water into the pan with the 475 mL of rinsed rice cover with a lid or tin foil and bring to a steam, once you get steam running, put the temperatire to its lowest setting and let it cook for 20 minutes. Remove from head and fluff with a fork. Alternatively if you have a rice cooker, use that instead. Serve it like a curry, put the rice down in the bowl or on the plate and then smother with the red beans. Some Southern Traditions say "Whoever gets the bay leaf on their plate doesn't have to do the dishes!" So, I need to add, you can reduce the amount of cayenne if you don't want it too spicy.
Babs is a great caregiver, and grandad is such a sweet gentleman! ❤️🙂

This is a man who likes to eat and knows what he likes to eat. Fantastic to see him enjoying a pot pie and that spinach look scrumptious.
Here is something if you want to try, red beans and rice, Louisiana cuisine.
Red beans and rice.
0.45 kg dry Red kidney beans, soaked, picked, and drained
1 Green bell pepper(capsicum for the spiffy grandad) small dice
1 Large yellow onion small dice
2 celery stalks/sticks small dice
30mL minced garlic
1.42 L water
2 bay leaf
½ teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper powder
1 teaspoon dried or fresh plucked thyme
¼ teaspoon ground sage
1 tablespoon parsley finely minced
1 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning (see recipe below)
0.45 kg Andouille sausage sliced or cubed how you like.
475mL Long grain white rice
950mL water
------------------------
To prepare the Cajun Seasoning:
2 ½ tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon dried leaf oregano
1 tablespoon dried thyme
Mix together thoroughly.
----------------------------
To prepare the beans:
Take your beans and soak them in water over night, pick out any stones or beans that float. Once soaked properly drain the water and set aside

Add your sausage, stir, and simmer for an additional 30 minutes.
-------------------------
To prepare the rice:
Rinse your rice with cold water from the tap by swishing it and pouring it out till the water is clear when you pour
Pour the 950mL of water into the pan with the 475 mL of rinsed rice cover with a lid or tin foil and bring to a steam, once you get steam running, put the temperatire to its lowest setting and let it cook for 20 minutes. Remove from head and fluff with a fork.
Alternatively if you have a rice cooker, use that instead.
Serve it like a curry, put the rice down in the bowl or on the plate and then smother with the red beans.
