@@robertmartin7594You don’t need slams to be the best player of the country? Especially when we’re talking about Britain who who didn’t even have a single woman qualify through rankings for RG or Wimbledon this year.
Even though Sabalenka looks far more favorite, it doesn't imply that she will easily gain the second round clash against Boulter. British tennis competitor has proven her quality and forcing the borders on the court in order to lead the rallies to the different zones. This versatility of Katie Boultet is really fabulous. She keeps advancing her adaptability and motion in each passing phase.
Yes, Katie Boulter is a good player and has improved a lot, but her style of play does not match up well against Sabalenka. Unless sabalenka has a very very very bad day. Sabalenka would win 95% of any match against Boulter.
It's crazy to think just a year and a half ago, Aryna would have lost a match with Katie on such a charge in both sets. It comes to show just how much she's grown in terms of knowing how to control a match when an opponent is in top form.
WTA at best, great quality of a lot players,I love theirs intensity, well coach, well prepared, good idea allowing couching while playing,Aryna such a pleasure to see her play hard always, love her .❤
In R1, both Saba (No.1 against 31) and Rybakina (No.5 vs 23) got tougher opponents than qualifier Katie (ranking in 50s). How? A draw is supposed to be based on rankings. Players earn their points by playing more and winning more. Their hard work is rewarded with better opponents in early rounds. That's why Andy Murray has been playing very hard to boost his rankings to avoid tough opponents in early rounds. Certain players like KB got the gift of easy R1 playing another qualifier (ranking in 60s) , but players like Sofia Kenin and Zheng Qinwen who are 31 & 23, had to play No.1 & 5 in R1. The current draw lost me.
That's why she got an easy R1, almost a gift to take her in R2. Many higher ranked players got much tougher R1 than her. But extra help can only take batbie this far.
This male commentator is atrocious. Why do these people use him? 😂 Great to see Katie playing well and giving the top players a run for their money. She just needs to do it consistently
Sabalenka has been struggling, shown in the US Open. Her mental toughness still gives her the edge to win at crucial moments. If she continues to struggle like this giving a qualifier a chance, she'd be in trouble in defending her AO title in 2024.
@@user-hm8nb5jr3w Give it a rest with those lame excuses about her defence not being up to scratch, in her previous match Katie hit over 40 winners. A couple of seasons ago when Naomi Osaka played Boulter she said Katie hit her ground strokes just as hard as the hardest hitters on the circuit. Aryna played very well to win that tight match after walking all over Kenin in the first round. Its the big hitters Sabalenka sometimes struggles with, the ball coming back hard before she can set herself.
@@doommonger7784 When a top player is in form, she makes clean winners, less unforced errors, more importantly, tactically limites her opponents to play their game, e.g force opponents make errors or never let them find their rhythm, tactically outmaneuvering is a higher level of defense than simply outrun opponents. Saba played poorly in almost all of the above today. KB hit over 40 winners when playing another qualifier, that says all about her weak opponent. Katie can hit hard, get your point, but not as hard as Rybakina, when Saba played well, even Rybakina could put her game together in AO final. Often top players play less better outside GSs, perhaps after a long tournament like making USO final, physical/mental fatigue, commercial distractions, all of the above? KB is regularly R1/R2 exit, and sometimes couldn't even make qualification, she played better this year though, but rarely played that much long intense tournaments, can have an advantage here. It's not excuses, but facts everyone has their physical/mental limit. I am not saying KB didn't deserve her due credits in this match, Saba is No.1 after all despite playing poorly today, but all of sudden saying KB is a top player is laughable. She almost gifted R1 pass compared with some other higher ranked players who had to play Saba and Rybakina in R1. If the draw was prepared as it should, KB would have knocked out in R1 instead of meeting No.1 in R2.
No way Sabalenka doesnt knows that she " grunt" ! She scream bloody murder and the longer the exchange is , the louder it become ! It should be consider hinderance
Don't be too harsh... stats say otherwise. Also, she was 3-5 down in first set, then saved 8 break points at 5-5. Boulter also served for second set. Aryna showed mentality of no.1
@@djordjenikolic9059 She has no mentality of no 1, when stakes are higher her game is deteriorating. It's typical for heavy hitters that under higher pressure they produce more errors and start struggling. She defeated easily Kenin yesterday but Kenin after US Open had 2 intensive tournaments (San Diego, Guadalajara), played 10 matches, meantime Sabalenka was resting for 3 weeks. Since Sabalenka get WTA 1 spot her game looks worse. Against Keys in US Open semifinal she lost 1st set 0:6, broke racket, shouted at couch. Against Gauff in final it was similar scenario to FO and Wimbledon semifinals, in the middle of the game she started committing more errors and finally lost 1:2. Playing like today she wouldn't have any chances against top 10 players. This was a fantastic match! This tournament is turning out to be one of the best of the year thus far!
