Yeah, I fell in love with the helo at first sight. I remember seeing it in a book, reading about its capabilities especially in SAR and then only a few days later I spotted my first (back then EH101) flying over the Danish Limfjord. Beautiful machine. The NH90 reminds me quite a bit of it's outward appearance.
Kudos for filming the entire start sequence, and thank you for not polluting this film with music... If you have another opportunity to film this magnificent aircraft, please hold the camera still!!
What an incredible achievement for man to have created such an innovative piece of technology. You can't but to stand in "aw" at this machine as it powers up and takes off into flight. Imagine the faces on people just 100 years ago if they would have seen something like this. To go from the Wright Bros. to this in such a short period of history is a crowning achievement of what man can actually do. And to think how far advanced the Space Shuttle was as well. Absolutely incredible.
Nice machine. Looks like the rotor head engineers really worked hard at minimizing parasite drag. Well done. Those blades and tips are awesome design. Thanks for posting. I do have one regret was that the constant zooming to close, and out, diminished somewhat the quality. Other than that, great video.
Interesting to see the full start-sequence of the AW101 / EH101 during your film. This type outclasses the NH90 in my humble opinion - great video thanks for posting / sharing :o)
We don't see how long it took for the ambulance crew & helicopter crew to load the patient into the helicopter. Loading of the patient + 7 minutes...? Since it took 7 minutes after the ambulance drove away for the helicopter to take off, I wonder how long it would've taken to just drive to the hospital.
55.475094, 12.164556 55°28'30.3"N 12°09'52.4"E This is Sjællands Universitetshospital Zealand University Hospital. They brought the patient here. They returned to the base empty.
Canada bought the EH101 version for it's Search and Rescue Squadrons. They ended up buying the ones the American had purchased that were supposed to be the Presidential Flight for spare parte. The stupidly bought the Sikorsky Cyclone as a replacement for the Sea Kings, 5 years ago and they only taken delivery of 1 helicopter in 5 years. Pitiful.
Is this the Merlin also training at the Limfjord? In that case I have seen it during training several times near Løgstør. Fantastisk maskine, min yndlings-helikopter. Hilsen fra Tyskland :D
all that wind from the helicopter is hitting him, and its probably not a professional camera where it has a harness to attach and hold onto to provide stability
The number one and number three engine disconnect with a freewheel while the number two engine is held by the rotor brake at ground idle. It can have all 3 engines and apu running without rotor turning. Impressive engineering to say the least.
Unless you are in a coma just go to 5:05 for something that actually resembles a helicopter in motion. Could have swore this was youtube and not youphotoalbum
The birds are having a chat afterwards... "there goes our big brother!"
Pure eargasm what a chopper!

AlexMaynard amen! And focus on the propellers please..
@@eastwestcoastkid That would be difficult, as it is a helicopter and has no propellers. Nice video, thanks.
D&L K 😑 clearly referring to the props ABOVE..
@@eastwestcoastkid Rotors. That's what they are.
D&L K LoL thanks for the proper name-I’ll remember that-that’s what I’m referring too 😃👍👍

Удивляться мысли, уму навыкам человечества! 👍🌹👍
A beautiful bird!
Looks like Westland have built one hell of a flying machine. Well done to them.
Augusta, thanks. Company is Italian.
Gorgeous lines on this aircraft.

wow!super machine.....top
the tips are designed to reduce noise for military operations and to provide better performance
BERP tips. Very quiet machine!
Greetings from Poland!
That right there would make a nice RV camper 👍 😉
Nice to actually see the cyclic pitch in action. Great camera position.
One of the fastest helicopters in the world.

Thank you 😂
Cut out 1/3 of the fkn video.
What Machine!!!...AWESOME! well done 4 posting
brillant video and my favorite helicopter off all time 😊
Had one of these fly low over my house in Wolverhampton the summer holidays sounded incredible
Would have been good to watch if the camera was kept still and the camera guy had left the zoom well alone.
Leonardo always produces excellent helicopters. After all, it's still an Italian invention. 😤

It does. It's much bigger.
That machine is huge. 😮
Big and elegant helicopter.
Well done! good camera work; I have had a flight in a Royal Navy Merlin what a smooth machine.

Wow, such a quiet engine !
3 of them !

They should start n standby the heli bfore loading the patient, that will reduce more time for warm up the engine...

What a machine wow. Wonder how that costs??
this thing looks massive

Nice........very nice!

agustawestland should start prototyping tilt rotors on their transport aircraft.
nil1230 they are. it's the AW609
Nice helycopter
Dat APU startup :)
nil1230 It's been to several wars and survived. It's a utility helicopter and can/has been fitted with various weapons on the ramp and doors.
wow amazing
4:55 rotor head rotation.
Emergency? Don't worry chaps, we'll be there next week. First we have to go through the longest startup routine ever.
Gotta love the basement keyboard pilots 😂😂
Hat große Ähnlichkeit mit dem "Chinnock"!
Very excellent in civilian uses and rescue operations thanks to participate

Why are the background trees moving separately from the rest of the items?
all that wind from the helicopter is hitting him, and its probably not a professional camera where it has a harness to attach and hold onto to provide stability
wow amazes me how they got the the ground
+Chris Stewart off lol
Powerplant: 3 × Rolls-Royce Turbomeca RTM322-01 turboshaft engines, 1,566 kW (2,100 hp) each (at take-off power).
Would have been a great video if the camera guy would just leave the camera alone!
Nice & Beautiful
Wo wo♥♥♥♥♥
what a beast
So basically this is another version of the Sikorsky S 92
Even the crew chief is bored at 04:00
Is this aircraft can separetly start the rotors from engines? Is there a manual clutch (hydarulic or electric) in the drivetrain?
Yeah!
MrElSatan Do oyu have any additional info about this technology, or other aircraft types?
No friend, but this a easy research, this technology is more used in big helis,só they cant start the engines without vibration!
From what i see, even a small heli, always they will start the engine first until stable, then they connect the power to rotor...
The number one and number three engine disconnect with a freewheel while the number two engine is held by the rotor brake at ground idle. It can have all 3 engines and apu running without rotor turning. Impressive engineering to say the least.
Saw one of these fly over my home and I wondered what type of heli it was, thanks.
Hi. On my you tube videos I seen many others helicopter's but ur brand helicopter is more stylish then others till I seen it
Does consent Dr.Riggs , timing chain, upper head seal prefer..

beautiful machine...
It's so big, I can see the blade angles change.
They should have done a spiral climb....made it a bit more interesting 😎
that's great man. I agree about the NH90 !
Ual, perfeito !!!
Thank you
It is named as one of the most deadliest helicopter in Europe

I worked on it as a design engineer at Westlands in 1981 !!!!
EH101 same?
retro1980 AW 101 (EH 101) Merlin, so yes
retro1980 could also be referring to a slightly different version, but better to research that.
