If you want a good shooting scoped high powered lever action with detachable mags savage has been making the model 99 for a hundred or so years now i think its real proven technology.
I have a lever gun chambered in 357 magnum. It looks like it should. Hanging a mag underneath it would in my eyes look dumb as hell, and it does look dumb as hell. I have a feeling these companies will be eating the dumb looking leverguns sooner rather than later. Just my honest opinion on the subject.

This is old technology. Both Savage and Winchester made lever action rifles that would shoot high BC bullets and the bolt never left the receiver. The Winchester model 88 has lockking lugs in the breech making high pressure rounds such as .308 Win, 284 Win, 358 Win very safe. The restyled lever actions are not impressing me one bit.
