I think many of us outdoor people head to the fields, marshes and the woods as bird, duck and big game seasons open up. Thanks for all the great content! No one explains these fisheries as well as you do!
Tyler it is so important to take care of yourself. You have given so much to the fishing community and it would be a great loss to all of us who follow you to lose you to burn out. Thanks for everything and good luck on race.
You have been super helpful in my own fishing journey. I appreciate all you have done and do. You don't owe any of us anything, so take care of yourself!
Thanks for showing me how to be a successful kokanee guy. Will always follow because of that. And I'll always watch whatever you post cause you're a great creator. Cheers
Thanks for all your work. It has really helped a lot of people get better at fishing. October is my second favorite season for trout fishing. other than spring/early summer. I just love getting out on the lake when the fall colors are hitting. Looking forward to ice fishing season. Didn't do the Sidley derby last year because it was -20 and super windy. Hopefully it is better this year!
Thanks for any and all the videos learning a lot as a new fisherman appreciate everything you’ve shared and looking forward to any future videos you have time for thanks
Thanks for all of your great video content. I'm retired and moved to Washington and recently bought a boat. Trying to get a handle on fishing. Something helpful to me would be some sort of table of contents or methodology to traverse your massive video content. As a former math science teacher, I appreciate all of your logical thinking and miniature experiments.
Hello Tyler, Thanks for all the helpful videos! I am in the San Francisco, Bay Area, so my primary interest is your trout videos …. Ice fishing or Kokanee fishing is several hours away from here…. Even so, I would love to get a recommendation on a Kokanee guide in our area🙂
Idea for content, would be salmon fishing on the Columbia and how to overcome a tough bite when they push water through the dams. I went out last weekend north of Desert Aire and there were salmon everywhere, but I’m pretty sure they had pushed some water through the dam and nobody was catching fish.
Have really liked your channel. Glad you are back in Montana taking a break. Would love to know more about your favorite Montana lakes for Kokanee. Living near Missoula, there are only a few close options. Suggestions? Keep going on the channel, I love watching. Thanks.
Can’t believe the viewership drops off in the fall! This time of year is the sportsman’s Super Bowl!! Love the trout content and would love to see more pike, walleye, other fall fisheries as you have time…not sure where in MT you’re at, but if you ever get the chance you should do a Lake Pend O’ Reille video. Trying to figure out the program there in my kayak as we just moved over from WA and it’s absolutely kicking my butt, haha.
When Pend Oreille starts filling up in the spring, I've always had great luck with Pike in the shallow bays (Denton Slough, Ellisport etc). Many of us target Kokanee at the Monarchs (from Clark Fork delta to Deadman Pt), and later in front of Trestle Creek, Granite Creek and Pack River. Idaho Club is trying to develop Trestle Creek into a luxury home development, slip marina and dredged private beach. They've refiled again, they're relentless.. so if you enjoy fishing, be sure to hit up the public opinion meetings to help vote down the destruction of a sensitive breeding area for both kokanee and trout.
Future topic(s)- Solunar forecast, barometric pressure, storm fronts…what are other factors for fishing productivity? Hot and cold…in search of an explanation.
Good evening Tyler. You mentioned better quality for your headgear. That is my focus. Unfortunately for me, I have a rather large noggin and I struggle with "one size fits all". Particularly annoying are the ball caps that are held together with the plastic pins pushed through the holes in the matching plastic strap. Usually only two or at the most, three of those pins can be used with my big head.... and within a week or so, those pins are broken and the hat is now trash. Will your new hats be that style, or do I have the option of something like the Flexfit style, where a hat of a more specific size can be purchased? Thanks so much for your content, it has changed the way I target Kokanee for much the better. I also look forward to your content from the interior of British Columbia. I love to pick out the familiar landmarks in the background, like the old boy scout camp on Big Deka Lake. I also get a kickout of watching you perch fishing on Curlew Lake, as I grew up just north of there, but that was away back in the 60's and 70's. I'm so looking forward to the new and revisited videos you produce! Of course, I'll still be watching re-runs of your videos to further hone my techniques. Trying to fish smarter, not harder! good Luck going forward and perhaps, one day we will meet on the water.
Could we have a video on sonar recommendations for trolling for trout and salmon? I see you have done some great videos on explaining the different sonar features and comparing a couple of models but recommending sonar for those of us who haven’t made the big purchase of a new chartplotter/sonar would be super helpful. I been using the Garmin striker 4 for the past couple of years and have been quite pleased with its performance, however I’m looking for a chart plotter that includes sonar and depth maps and speed. I have my eye on one of the echo series chartplotters (hoping to pair it with my navionics) but I see you use the humminbird predominantly. Anyhow, your thoughts would be appreciated.
It's definitely something with the youtube algorithm, because I used to watch and like all of your videos until after your last brewster videos, then youtube stopped showing your videos on my home page and I had to check your channel manually every time!
Yeah its a strange thing. If you hit the bell button you'll get notified of all my videos but for a lot of folks my channel simply disappears in the fall, especially in election years.
Tyler, thanks for the updates and everything you do! I have seen your awesome Kayak rigging videos, and suggested equipment. Could you also do one covering your colder weather kayak clothing, gear, boots, or anything else that comes to mind, and give us your thoughts on them?

Personally I’d like to see/hear a video on close or dangerous encounters with power boats, water obstacles, etc. and how you overcame those or planned for future encounters. I’ve been kayak fishing since 2020 and had no dangerous encounters until recently. One on the lower Columbia with a powerboat crabbing, he came super close to me idling (asking how we were doing fishing off the beach) as I was going to pick up my pot from the beach and he drug he buoys right under my kayak and they almost got hung up on the pedal drive. I was really uncomfortable with the whole situation but really felt like I couldn’t scream at him due to being in a floating piece of plastic vs. a 22-24’ PB. He ended up redirecting my kayak downstream as he idled away and the buoys slid up the side of my kayak and off the bow. Guy was a complete moron coming way too close for no other reason than to ask how the fishing was off the beach 🤦🏼♂️. The other one I was kokanee fishing at Merwin and almost got ran over by a pontoon boat (within 10-15’ of me going full speed). I have repositioned my whistle and air horn to be more accessible but I’m still not convinced that would have solved the issue or redirected the drivers path. Both situations were scary and could have lead to injury or death…any tips or tricks you have compiled over the years?
I hope to do some traveling in 2025, focusing exclusively on Kokanee fishing. Do you plan to create a video with your top 10 fisheries for the upcoming season? Also, do you plan to continue with some fish-alongs in 2025?
An interesting video could be upper Columbia steelhead. Apparently it's going to open for the first time in 9 years on October 16th or something like that.
Please, please please do an in-depth video that analyzes the health of the Lake Chelan Kokonani fishery. How is it being monitored for example by Washington Department of fish and wildlife, or other groups and what do the facts and data say about the health and potentially the future of that fishery?

I’m in the Helena area if you’re interested in hopping on the boat. You pick the target species. No cameras just time on the water.
Thanks!
I would like to see more about how you cook your catch, really liked the recipe you shared on the beach at Rufus woods with walleye 0:07

Might be a reason for the drop off. People are too busy at the sportmans Super Bowl and not watching RUclips. Just a theory 🤷🏼♂️

Master class in kokanee fishing. I'll pay for that! I don't ice fish, so that should tide me over till the ice is off the lakes.

Hi Tyler, are you still planning a book on Kokanee fishing? Hope so. Thanks for all your video’s, instructional series etc. Doug
Yeah I think I will release it concurrently with the video masterclass next year
Love the channel!
Does the time of year effect the taste of kokanee? If so ,what time of the season is best?
If they are spawners yes then their flavor and texture will drop off in the fall as they transition to spawning phase.
