Love love love love love! And this really shows off the little-known variants to the EA hockeystick livery; thick stripes, white crown, thick stripes, silver crown, thin stripes, silver crown, bare nacelles on tail-engined a/c, painted nacelles on tail-engined a/c, etc. So many subtleties in the differences over the years.

Air Florida had such a modern logo for it's time, with the shadowed letters and AF on the tail and all in lowercase. The metallic blue and in green on on pic I saw looks so cool.

yep it was, notice the registation on 29:55, this is N62AF, this is the particular Air Florida 737 that was later lost in an accident in Washington DC

    Wide body heaven
Of course we expect a Pan Am 747 or Eastern l-1011 but a Braniff 747sp? Wow!
    Continental's 747 too.
Air Florida, looks like a mess to me!
Aero Mexico bare metal DC10 ❤
    Thanks for sharing

I remember flying National to Miami and Air Sunshine to Key West when I was a kid!! Wow!! blast from the past. And you didn't go to Disney World if you didn't fly Eastern back in the day!!!

IMO NW 36th Street has always been the most interesting part of MIA. Lots of exotic aircraft in maintenance, storage or during change of ownership, not even to mention the shady caracters running around on the ramp ... Used to hang out there for both business and pleasure from 1984 until the late nineties. Best memories of any of the many airports I have been in my life ...!

Miami really busy then. Dominicana 727. I flew them many times. In those days Eastern was a monster. I really liked them a lot. I noticed the Viasa 747 there briefly. Another rarity would be an Eastern Airlines 747. They leased two or three of them in the seventies while waiting for the Tristar

    • @Starboard76
      @Starboard76  4 года назад

Yep, 3 from Pan Am...and no one shot them in MIA. I'm sure some excellent footage exist on teh shelf of some Miami news station eroding by the minute.

One of the incidents I remember that showed in this video was a bomb threat to a Branniff International DC-8’s during Branniff torment times competition with American Airlines and Southwest Airlines

👍❤️✈️😎👏 Those Eastern L1011s look so sharp compared to a DC10. And the EA 757 with those numbers painted on the vertical stabilizer define sexy! MIA is a foamers’ dream airport for different aircraft from all over the world. Kudos, Starboard 76!

I was thinking the same thing!!!!! Eastern's livery fit the L1011s picture perfect but the DC10s just didn't look right with Eastern 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

I miss these days. Airports were sane, people dressed well and you didn't get strip searched by the government. OK the ticket prices were high but the service made up for it.
    Peace.

Not a fan of the DC-10 but it looked great in the National Airlines Sun king paint job. I also loved The Great Pumpkin'; the orange 747 that Braniff flew. I loved Braniff in general and their multi-colored planes, would have been a big contrast to the boring "same ness" of today's paint jobs. One of the reasons that I don't fly and will never support American, is because of the dirty tactics that their CEO engaged in, to put them out of business. 😢. Love the Air Florida 737. I miss when the 737 was the "baby" of the Boeing family .

    • @Starboard76

Thanks for that review..rarely do I hear ppl speak to the dirty tricks (computer manipulation) that AA pulled to end Braniff. Yeah, that was criminal.
