- I'm not sure if this is better described as 'ambient' or 'atmospheric'. I'll settle for 'spoopy synth jamboree'.
This track is my contribution to 'Hylian Downfall', an album containing remixes by a whole ton of talented cover artists, paying homage to the soundtracks of the first 4 Zelda games (The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, Link to the Past, Link's Awakening). It can be downloaded for free from here: bit.ly/2qo57uZ
My Patreon donors weren't charged for this track (it's outside the usual kind of music videos I make) but they still deserve a shout-out for their constant support:

Sounds like the Lost woods and the original dungeons has a baby.
As you go deeper into the dungeon you are unsure if you will ever see the sun again, yet something drives you deeper. You are scared, but even more frightful is what would happen if you gave in. The dungeon will not treat you kindly.
It always makes me really happy to hear how people interpret the stuff I make! Cheers mate :)
This sounds like a kind of dark, beautiful place, which means you nailed it. I imagine a cave with bioluminescent lichens on the walls and stones that glitter.
Thanks! I really love hearing the visualisations and interpretations that people have of the covers I make :)
This gave me the chills. Such thick blends of chords!
Thanks! I'm glad you noticed - I tried to mostly use traditional voice-leading over these chords, which results in a very thick sounding texture when using these synths and the EWI!
Ooh, I love this! The ambiance gives me chills! I absolutely love how this came out. Amazing work! :)
Thanks mate! I'm glad you liked it :)
The genre everyone is trying to describe in the comments is “dungeon synth” which this completely encompasses. Beautifully done
Thank you! I've only heard a little dungeon synth, so I might not be the best judge (doesn't it incorporate more of an early PC vibe?) but I'm glad you think it works here!
This was one of my favorite tracks from the album, amazing job Soundole :)
Thanks heaps mate! That's very flattering considering the talent involved :)
You definitely know how to create a heavy, foreboding atmosphere. Love the feeling of this cover.
Thanks so much mate! I'm glad that atmosphere came across! :)
I love this music theme and I love your version !
Thanks heaps Adrien! :)
Awesome! I would love to get a hack of the first Zelda with this theme on the dungeon.
Thanks mate! That would be cool to see - the whole OST could be a pretty fun rescoring project!
Wow!! Please, make it happen!!
Perfect bro, deep.
Thanks heaps mate! :)
I absolutely love your recent covers.
This one reminds me of some Amnesia: The Dark Descent OST.
Anyways, keep up with the good work! Those ambient covers are delightful!
Thanks so much mate, that means a lot! It's a style I pretty naturally go to, so I'm sure I'll be doing more of it :)
The Legend of Resident Zelda
Yesss, glad that comes across :)
Eerie, but weirdly inviting? I can't put my finger on what exactly the other feeling is. It's so cool.
Thanks a lot mate! Emotionally ambiguous is a bit of a nice break from straight-forward nostalgic town themes :p
Very nice arrangement!! I get a spooky feeling from this XD
Thanks heaps! I'm glad that comes across :)
this feels pretty kreepy and yet pretty nostalgic. As a musician: I approveit :D love it ^^
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :)
Mesmerizing! This cover was made with real good music taste, the sounds are so nice and everything flows so well, somewhere between the relaxing and the scary ^^
Thanks so much mate! And thanks for getting me involved in the album :)
So beautiful!! ^_^
Thanks heaps Rebecca!
With your permission may I use this as ambient music for a Dungeon and Dragons session I'm hosting with my friends
Also great cover
Awesome! I'd love for my music to be used that way :)
Soundole VGM Covers Thank you very much!
I like it
Cheers mate! :)
Since you made this one, I'm asking here: May I use this track as background music for a couple projects I'm making videos for? Always gonna show respect to creators.
Hey mate, please do! Credit in the description would be fantastic, and I'm always keen to see what people make with this stuff :)
I was probably going to put it in the actual video itself, heh. big fan of anyone who can bring new life to simple, yet deep music.
Appreciate it a ton!
Should be in a remake of the old zeldas if they are ever made.
Thanks so much mate! I'm glad you think so :)
very.... ambient
Yesss, I'm all about that :)
spookyscary ._.
3spoopy5me :o
Makes me think of Binding of Isaac tbh
I get the comparison, I really enjoyed a lot of the moody writing in both Isaac soundtracks :)
