Here is some very rare behind the scenes footage of the GOAT in MMA George St. Pierre training wrestling and Jiujitsu with the GOAT of BJJ Roger Gracie. This behind the scenes footage was filmed a few years ago in London at Roger Gracie Academy before GSP's Welterweight Title fight against Nick Diaz.
It was amazing to see the 2 best guys in separate sports coming together to train wrestling and Jiujitsu to help each other get ready for their separate fights.
Roger Gracie is a 14x World Champion and is also the Grandson of jiu-jitsu founder Carlos Gracie and an inductee in the IBJJF Hall of Fame. He is also an ADCC Champion in 2005.
George St. Pierre is a former UFC Welterweight and Middleweight Champion with victories over BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Michael Bisping, Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch, Jake Shields, Carlos Condit, Jonny Hendricks, Matt Serra, Josh Koscheck and Dan Hardy. The list goes on.
Both Fighters have now retired and cemented their legacies as the best to ever do it in their separate sports. Спорт

Renzo: Hey GSP do you wanna roll with the best BJJ practicioner of all time?
GSP: How much does he weigh?
Renzo: He's a heavyweight
GSP: Sure
Nah, the best of the BEST is Rafael Mendes. My opinion, obviously...
Nah rickson is definitely better
@@allrounder242 Rafael has taken bjj to another level even surpassing Rickson, speaking merely on skills solely.
Roger is an mma middleweight
@@yuritolentino2916
Rafael is unreal, but Roger Gracie submitted 8 of 8 in ADCC. That's shutdown domination.
The thing I always liked about GSP is that he's one of the few examples of a guy with a dedicated striking background who wholeheartedly embraced grappling (especially wrestling) and became excellent at making it work in the cage. You hear about the opposite -- wrestlers becoming strikers -- all the time: Justin Gaethje, Chuck Lidell, Tyron Woodley, Jon Jones, the list goes on. But GSP was a karate guy who became an absolutely dominant wrestler.
Safton It goes both ways.
Jon Jones was a wrestler who became the best at everything. And still undefeated
@@billcipher3946 Yes, but my point is that you hear about people with grappling bases becoming primary strikers far more than primary strikers becoming dominant grapplers in an MMA setting.
@@pierremilburn5257 Yes, Jon was a special talent in his prime. It's a shame what became of him.
That being said, he wasn't "the best at everything". Tremendously well-rounded yes and a threat everywhere, but if there was a weakness in his game, it was his boxing inside the pocket. But he used his other weapons to mitigate this very well.
Gsp stayed a striker lol he used his striking to wrestle, he used many jabs he’s one of the few and first to use the jab a lot
GSP is doing very well, considering the size difference and knowledge of Roger Gracie..
True but GSP is a super strong black belt and an amazing athlete. Masters like Roger will tap him eventually but it's going to be a lot of work.
Seriously how the fuck did Roger make 185 when he was fighting MMA?
Lou Zer rockhold is probably the same size so yeah they are big middleweights
@@AkamapD Americas Champ, it's an honor.
Good observation I completely forgot about the size different
GSP is something else much respect to him what a humble true martial artist.
I would really love the opportunity to train with both of these guys just awesome
7:10 the noise you make when you've just know that you don't have enough energy to get back on top again.
I love the "ahhh noooo" from George when Roger sweeps him from the bottom straight into mount from outta nowhere.... and not just mount but that mount which is locked and locked down like a block of granite! Great roll. GSP is the GOAT for me.
I love how basic Roger's grappling is. Nothing a blue belt doesn't know, he just does it so damn perfectly.
Yeah bro, thanks for putting it like that I was trying to think what was going on, that's the stuff I do and doesn't work 😄
He does everything in slow motion, you see it coming from a mile away, and still, you can't avoid it. As you said, he does everything perfectly. Every hand and foot placement has a purpose and he's always 2 or more moves ahead of you. As you said, it's the basics of BJJ and grappling, just done with extreme finesse and dexterity. Details matter.
It’s all muscle memory. Like Bruce Lee said “I don’t fear the man who practiced 10,000 kicks once. I fear the man who practiced 1 kick 10,000 times.”
@@seanbarker9272 it helps being 3 weight classes above your opponent to pull certain thing up tho
All black belts will have mastery of the basics but there we definitely things he did blue belt wouldn’t know. I can tell you’re around a blue belt level to not understand the difference between blue belt Techniques vs black belt (both using the same technique) the black belt does things the eye’s cannot see, its the invisible jiu jitsu. You’re looking at the surface thinking its basics which its a bit more.
"I'm definitely imprezzed by this rolling."
6:57 that sweep sequence is 100% getting added to my game 👀
Herwin Torres i know Lagarto was there that day too
@@stuartcooperfilms is that one of his sweeps? I thought it was a Roger original lol Either way, I love the set up/execution.
DLR guard is so tricky
Herwin Torres sorry that reply was for someone else haha
I’m still yet to try that sweep sequence. It’s getting added to my game too. I’m not sure who developed it
I know right, like a knee-in omoplata sweep to mount? Black magic man.
Such a gift being able to watch two nicest masters of our sport! And Roger’s reversals look so effortless!
they are actually effortless.. he gets in position then just lightly rolls....its all about the set up. after that its easy no effort..i trained with roger for 7 years and that guy is something else..he taught me so much about true jiu jitsu.
Everyone of these fighters wants to call themselves gangsters.
GSP is the real one. Holding his own against the much bigger and perhaps goat roger Gracie. Amazing
GSP is a true martial artists, seeking out the best guys in each discipline and leaving his ego at the door. He never makes excuses either
80% strenght applied by Roger and smiling still submits GSP. Thats why Roger is BJJs goat defeating greats!
@@rogeriannavarro5640 true but add in G+P and he'd stop smiling
And in real fight he could have beat roger easily with standup
I love GSP, wish he was still fighting.
Awesome, staying ready for that GSP vs Khabib Fight.
Not happening
Man I hope that fight happens. Even though GSP said that he thinks Tony deserves the fight more than him on Chael’s channel, that’d be a fucking fight and it’d solidify GSP as the 🐐 if he were to beat Khabib and become the triple champ
Read the caption this was over 2 years ago lol
I really hope that happens!
This was years ago
So happy this was released. Super generous of GSP and his team to give us so much footage for free.
0:47 the way Roger won the inner position with his right is INSANE
I saw GSP in ADCC 2005 in Long Beach, California.
He was good enough to be in the top grappling event way back then.
David Tice imagine him in ADCC now. I think with his wrestling he would be hard to beat in that rule set
@@stuartcooperfilms
This is very true. Hopefully he'll get invited to the next ADCC.
He got flying armbarred in the first minute of his first match
Adcc he lost the second fight, no first
I was there too. But he got smoked. He was there on celebrity not ability at the time. Fast forward to now and look at the difference. That was the best event ever. Go Marcelo.
Gracie is much bigger than GSP, and he’s a GRACIE! How good is GSP to be competitive with him
Philip Taylor GSP was doing very well with Braulio and Lagarto too that day
stuartcooperfilms any chance you’ll ever upload those rolls? Would love to see them
The Relaxed Guy yes bro I intend to
When was this?
Roger Gracie changed his last name
Amazing to see two of the greatest putting in work together! Very special footage
jake hewitt thanks Jake buddy!
stuartcooperfilms the greatest is KHABIB in case your memory is bad
80% strenght applied by Roger and smiling still submits GSP. Thats why Roger is BJJs GOAT defeating greats!
@@855FIGHTER man, he's shit lol
@@855FIGHTER khabib was one dimensional and boring as F*** to watch. Also, when he jumped out of the ring and attacked people in the crowd after his fight with Conor, he completely destroyed his legacy for a lot of people. Terrible representation of the sport.
GSP is the 🐐
Roger is a beast. Passing GSP guard with probably the first pass every BJJ student learn.
Where did it get him though?
@@dawsonsschittcreek5395 It would have earned him points if they were competing.
Really enjoyed watching two legends at work together thank you very much.
This was excellent. GSP is one of my favorites. He looked real good here, rolling with the "Cream of the Crop" Gracie Family.
Roger's tool kit is incredible. You could hear George when Roger landed the mount that he was in a difficult spot lol
This was a pleasure to watch! Thanks for sharing.
The greatest thing about Roger Gracie is that he doesn't do anything fancy. He is an absolute master of the bare essentials. The fact that GSP put up a fight in this roll is also amazing. Beautiful stuff
Man, having only been in the game for 4-years now, watching this is just....awesome. A great sparring session with great interplay between them.
That sweep at 3:01 by Roger is a work of art. Replayed it like 5 times.
LFly01 do you know the name of that sweep?
Hey Martin J. It's his signature half guard sweep. He has been done that sweep in competitions too.
@@martin179 sorry brother I don't :(
@@16thChemical still a work of art.
LFly01 It was comment to Martin J.
Bloody amazing footage Stuart! One of a kind shot of these greats sparring. Much nicer also to see an extended roll vs the short training clips normally released for fight promos (not to give anything away etc). Keep it up brother
I got some more epic free rolls to release soon
Amazing job as always sir thank you for putting this out there 🙏🏻how can people dislike this, jeez
thanks bro. There has to be something wrong with the people that dislike this video! haha This is rare footage
This was amazing thank you.
thank you
I get claustrophobic just watching Roger on top of someone else.
Cosmic Ninja I know what it feels like being under Roger Gracie’s mount. I was a purple belt at the time and tapped to the pressure. I just couldn’t breath haha
Lolololololol
No joke huh, Roger is something else man. Once he gets you wrapped up with his long limbs, it's just a countdown to the inevitable.
Thanks Stuart another great one!!!! Legends!
Roger's escapes are so smooth you don't even see it coming
He’s a master of defence
Who in their right mind could give this a thumbs down?
141 people who cannot appreciate the game.
Bisping
I put a dislike because the Gracie's are trash
Two of the best in their art. Was great to watch them roll. Thanks for sharing.
Thankyou for watching bro
@@stuartcooperfilms always a pleasure to watch your vids, Stuart
Wow thanks for putting this together.
great vid, thanks
Jiu Jitsu: I invented myself to beat bigger guys
Roger Gracie: Hold my gi
7:06 ha! GSP's reaction is priceless. He cluelessly thought he defended the triangle "HA! your feet is not coming up!!" but fell right into Roger Gracie's trap. #Mounted
Still did infinitely better than any of us would lol
Thanks for posting this. It's awesome to see two top of the game athletes compete against each other.
No problem. I got another video ready with Braulio and GSP which i will post soon
@@stuartcooperfilms Sweet! I look forward to seeing it.
Excellent work.
Awesome reversal wait for it.... the pass... wait for it, guard recovery... reversal
Jim Carey amazing reversal! I’ve never seen that counter before or that closed guard sweep
GSP is the greatest fighter of all time. Montreal stand up
Very true he is up there with Anderson Silva and just cause he had lost when he's older when in his prime we all knew Silva would of beat Gsp
Lol Anderson is another roider like GSP!
@@jasonmorth1173 Every ones on steriods:Nate Daiz
nah, he's the south shore kid. just like New York can't claim someone from Jersey.
Put some 'hespect' in the name Saint Isidore s'il vous plait.
VoodooBeats he is the greatest in my opinion too
Love that. That reversal and sweep were awesome
Awesome footage! My two favourites fighters, love to see some gi sparring sessions too. Roger much prefers gi so be really interesting to see the difference. Thanks Stuart!
Great video as usual Stuart makes me think of home Grove W10 all day everyday 👊🏾
awesome!
GSP grapples like a Catch wrestler. Both stand-up and on the mats. Great video btw.!
Not really, why would you think that?
Pikku Kalle whatchu mean
That was awesome. and great editing . nobody cares who taps to what . just great to see how both approach the Roll.
thanks bro
Very good. Two beasts on the submission. Gsp is very tecnique. Congratulations!!!
My goodness, look at the size of Roger's head when he's in GSP's guard. It's the size of his torso!
Gotta love GSP forever. Let’s see him vs Khabib at 165
That's a tough fight for Khabib.
Paulie Copez Very tough fight for Khabib. Hard to imagine Khabib winning that in any way. I don’t think he’d be able to take GSP down, and I’d surely favor GSP in the striking exchanges.
SeedsAreUs Khabib once said he would not move up the weight division. So GSP has to move to 155 to fight him.
@@philipchan1856 khabib said he let gsp weight either 160/165
@@RMichaelHimself of course gsp has a karate kyokushin background 😅
What treat to watch! Pretty much what I expected to see...GSP is way smaller but also it's FREAKING Roger Gracie!
So good !!
GSP a beast. Roger Gracie is the best Gracie in Jujitsu! Winning multiple G and no G world championships!!
Roger gracie is one of the best jiu jitsu guys of all time and two full weight classes above GSP the fact he was able to hang with him even if it was clear Roger was betteris beyond impressive
Great Vid Brotha!!
thanks hope your well bro
That reversal from de la riva to mount at the end from Gracie was slick
Watching this makes me so excited for GSP vs Khabib they don’t even have to do it in the UFC just do it for a submission event for charity
It was only a dream :( and never happened
GSP in his prime would destroy Khabib
Good work. GSP is in fantastic shape still.
The Godfather he’s a true martial artist always in shape
This footage is already few years old, but like Stuart says: real fighters are always in good shape!
Barry Groeneveld yes it was filmed in 2011 right before ADCC. You can see the level of GSPs jiujitsu hear so he will be even higher level now especially working with Danaher. I’d love to see GSP compete in ADCC in a superfight
@@stuartcooperfilms GSP is the real deal. Thanks for your replys.

This made my day!
Talk about a treat!!!
i think i was there training that day. :) I can hear olie geddes voice in the background! nice roll!
keeper01a Yea I think Oli was teaching that day and also Lagarto was rolling too
I’m fortunate that Oli is my coach! Amazing teacher and really nice guy
really wish this wasn't so edited. would like to see the entire roll with all the transitions.
Exactly! I was wondering what was up with that.
They were making each other tap or one was submitting the other so they edit it out
@@django2778 Roger didnt tapped since he was blue belt, not even in a sparring.. Unreal
Very cool. I love to see the level of technical skill that some of these guys have, it's insane.
Amazing skills! Hats off to GPS
O GSP é um baita lutador, mas o Roger é simplesmente uma LENDA DO NOSSO JIU JITSU! 🔰
its humbling to see how tired they are, it must have been a long session
antkcuck it was. They did a lot of rounds with Braulio Estima and Lagarto Rodrigues before this round
@@stuartcooperfilms is there any Braulip footage? His guard work is very fun.
So cool to see this 👌🏻
This roll shouldn't end never!! a lesson!
Fabio Fernandes the next video features Braulio and GSP
from when was this footage taken? Amazing how well GSP holds up against the much bigger opponent
Literally 6 days ago
do not listen to cumspitfire, this was nearly 7 yrs ago.
They're coasting, a real match would be different.
They are sparring, if Roger was try hard, he would made gsp tap in less than 2 minutes.. Not even joking
"...an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age."
please do more of these if you can!!! appreciate it
I'd love to do more
When two GOATS roll an angel gets its wings!!
Gsp is a genius
he is
Ryron Gracie once said roger is one of the very best in the world
That sweep at the end was sick
GSP is, not only a very high level grappler and jiu jitsu practitioner, he’s also freakishly strong and has a fight IQ off the charts.
awesome footage. I believe this is from like 2011 or 2013. Old footage but still amazing. I could be wrong
Mastermind Martial Arts & Fitness it is from 2012 bro. I was waiting for a while to upload it
@@stuartcooperfilms I would love to see it all. I've spent so many hours studying those guys separately.
Man 1 dislike in the first 5 minutes after uploading it! haha
Haters gonna hate lol
I think Bisping’s still mad
Hamish Ortonville sometimes they can’t wait to spread the negativity
Lee Skeet maybe haha
Maybe saw 2 sweaty doods and felt mislead. That or someone completely miserable
Very very humbling
That was great to watch...
GSP did great. Nice technical roll with both guys having fun!
Roger Gracie é muito craque. Aquela raspagem, aos 07:00, a partir da De La Riva, é algo surreal.
Awesome to see such greatness compete playfully. As they say...iron sharpens iron!
Wow...Awesome Roll. This looks like the BTT sequence with Fabio Holanda from Montreal when GSP executes the BJJ transition. Nice🥊
At what time in the vidéo?
GSP was gasping for air. I feel ya GSP, rolling with a much bigger guy is always physically taxing.
Especially a bigger guy who's ALSO Roger Gracie. Imagine not having any kind of advantage whatsoever, lol. It's like deciding to fight Kratos as a random gaurd or something, lol 😂
Lets Google on this "BIGGER guy" there mate, Roger was justing having fun with gsp.. He could make him tap all day long
if it was mma George would have him unconcious
Oh yeah roger would be seeing stars
No shit
Pure gold
🙏
That mount from Roger was sick!
George still has Khabib in the back of his mind all the time
And vice versa. They almost HAVE to fight each other at some point.
@@kovenmaitreya7184 I agree, would be the greatest fight UFC has ever made. Even though itll probably never happen because the ufc is so hard headed
Wrestling is so taxing on the body. Probably the best workout you could ever get.
Great roll!
It’s super nice to see the Welterweight GOAT GSP practicing (at his level) the same white belt moves I’m using today - especially that basic guard escape!
I think every Gracie first name starts with an R except Kron Gracie!! LOL
It's actually a silent K
Btw this is like 7years ago or something
Two of the best!
Supee amazing content pls more of that
Damn GSP could take down much bigger roger Gracie, no wonder he took down like almost everyone in mma in his weight class
Jiu Jitsu guys suck at take downs. I guarantee you GSP worked his wrestling more than Roger did.
@servant of jesus This is true. A double leg onto pavement can end a fight quickly. From someone like GSP it could cripple or kill.
Rashad Evans ( Ex 205 lbs champ ) once said GSP was more strong than most of Light heavy weight after practicing with him
gsp is doing good because gsp is giving his 100% while roger is pretending to giving his 100% :)
@@JaDe-jc8kf nah that's a myth like what Aikido people tell you LOL there is plenty of footage of DLT in street fights, it always goes into grappling/gnp. Might hurt a leg or your back but it won't end the fight usually. A supplex or some other slam - head to canvas - that could indeed be deadly though.
I've rolled with Roger Gracie, I'm a purple belt under Rorion Gracie..... Rolling with a Gracie is a whole different world.
I rolled with Roger Gracie when I was a Purple Belt too. To this day I have never experienced a mount quite like his. It was incredible the amount of pressure that he was able to apply
@@stuartcooperfilms Yes, next level stuff. The Pressure.
Who wins in a No Gi Roger or Gordon Ryan?
@@rxnupe i would say Gordon
@@stuartcooperfilms may I ask why? I would say Roger- he's beaten and subbed much top caliber guys than Gordon. Gordon is a beast but Roger different level. Roger hasn't been tapped since he was a Blue Belt. I believe Gordon was choked out via RNC in 2017 or 18.
I feel like this is jitz of the highest order, respectful ... not to win but to get to know eachother
Love the editing of the tap lol. HESPEK
haha
