Here is some very rare behind the scenes footage of the GOAT in MMA George St. Pierre training wrestling and Jiujitsu with the GOAT of BJJ Roger Gracie. This behind the scenes footage was filmed a few years ago in London at Roger Gracie Academy before GSP's Welterweight Title fight against Nick Diaz.
It was amazing to see the 2 best guys in separate sports coming together to train wrestling and Jiujitsu to help each other get ready for their separate fights.
Roger Gracie is a 14x World Champion and is also the Grandson of jiu-jitsu founder Carlos Gracie and an inductee in the IBJJF Hall of Fame. He is also an ADCC Champion in 2005.
George St. Pierre is a former UFC Welterweight and Middleweight Champion with victories over BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Michael Bisping, Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch, Jake Shields, Carlos Condit, Jonny Hendricks, Matt Serra, Josh Koscheck and Dan Hardy. The list goes on.
Both Fighters have now retired and cemented their legacies as the best to ever do it in their separate sports.

The thing I always liked about GSP is that he's one of the few examples of a guy with a dedicated striking background who wholeheartedly embraced grappling (especially wrestling) and became excellent at making it work in the cage. You hear about the opposite -- wrestlers becoming strikers -- all the time: Justin Gaethje, Chuck Lidell, Tyron Woodley, Jon Jones, the list goes on. But GSP was a karate guy who became an absolutely dominant wrestler.

@@pierremilburn5257 Yes, Jon was a special talent in his prime. It's a shame what became of him.
That being said, he wasn't "the best at everything". Tremendously well-rounded yes and a threat everywhere, but if there was a weakness in his game, it was his boxing inside the pocket. But he used his other weapons to mitigate this very well.

Every hand and foot placement has a purpose and he's always 2 or more moves ahead of you. As you said, it's the basics of BJJ and grappling, just done with extreme finesse and dexterity.
