Howland Reed could be attached to a weirwood throne, due to the damage he got fighting at the tower of joy. Therefore cannot travel to check on anyone personally.
Watching the replay...in regards to the weirwoods all being connected/Bran somehow traveling underground back to Winterfell. In the books when Ygritte and Jon are having their little “lord’s kiss” moment, she tell’s him about Gorne and Gendel using tunnels to bypass the watch. Too many Northern tales seem true for that to not have a payoff.
I like this guy Robert. I never heard of him before Robert. Should have him back every once in awhile. I don't know if he remembers your name though Robert. Robert he really is an interesting guy Robert. Could you link me to his channel Robert? Thank you Robert. Robert, stay safe Robert. We need you out here Robert.
The show was a let down but I've moved so far beyond it. I'm still learning things about ASoIaF from the books and I'm excited about it. The show was the show and I'm ok with that. There's been healing
To be clear about the page count. When Mr. Martin says, that TWoW and ADoS will have 1500 pages each, he refers to manuscript pages. That's the page count on his DOS machine. As a comparison, ADwD had 1540 manuscript pages. So, when he says each volume will have 1500 pages, that doesn't mean, that these books will have 1500 book pages. That wouldn't be possible. Because the 1500 manuscript pages are the max number for a regular publication. For example, another version of ADwD had 1700 manuscript pages. So, he had to shorten it and therefore shifted 200 pages to TWoW. All this could very well mean, that you could be right and that there might be eight books total. Especially if you take into account Mr. Martins track record of contuinially low balling his material.
When I think of the Green men and the children of the forest, I think of the Fae (fairy folk); I think of the tales of Robin Hood; Cernunnos/Hern the Hunter, and the Green Man (pagan god of nature/vegetative deity.) I hope that we learn more about the Isle of Faces at least in the last two books if not in season 8. I would love to know more about the Isle and wished that I could visit and understand it’s mysteries!
Great chat. An odd thought struck me while watching it earlier. What if the weirwoods are the males to the Children Of The Forest’s females? Some sort of a pollination thing going on rather than impregnation. Maybe it didn’t start out that way but after a long time, the Children’s males faded out as prolonged exposure to weirwoods had its effect. Similar, slightly, to how some breeds of ants have gotten into symbiosis with certain breeds of plants.
Hey Robert, had to catch the replay I literally walked in at the end 😕 preparing for a trip & things a little hectic. Going to SoCal for the Christopher Robin premiere & laundry doesn't do itself 😜 Interesting discussion, hopefully we will get some answers regarding the Isle of Faces & Order of Green men in the books, I don't think the show has laid much groundwork there or has enough time to cover it. Maybe the prequels will? I have a feeling lots of questions will go unanswered on the show...
Where did the First men come from? We know where the Andals and the Rhoynar (Salt Dornishmen) came from.. Who the F has the characteristics & beliefs like the First Man?
I didn't realize Harrenhal was built using weirwood... it is definitely literally cursed (at least, in the sense in which we would understand something to be "cursed"; there was no actual curse put upon it, but clearly the Old Gods are displeased with the structure's continued existence)
I would have to disagree. There are curses all over Game of Thrones. Grayscale is caused by a curse. I would even go as far as saying that WW are cursed.
I tend to favor the theory that Balarion's black flame was somewhat radioactive or some equivalent. That connects with the Conquerors arguable infertility and the diminishing fertility of successive lords.
Does all of the winterfell castle count as a weirwood? If so, Bran would be able to use his sight anywhere in winterfell, right? At least according to the books.. Also, isle of faces, they know where it is, but wind or mishaps prevent anyone from actually reaching the isle..
Does anyone really believe that the Undying have decided not to pursue Dani and avenge what happened at the House of the Undying. This is going to be another shock coming in the last few episodes.
Grrm will never finish both remaining books.. Probably we'll get Winds of Winter but A Dream of Spring will probably get released post-humously, like 10 yrs from now.. He'll die before he finishes them all... Valar Morghoulis...
grrm has said recently his ublisher was pressuring him into splitting up twow into two books and he was refusing to do that(that could easily change though)
Im not sure there are ghosts in asoiaf. We know there are shadows and voices in the flames as far supernatural enities. But so far any undead have been corporeal. Even saying that death or people who've returned from death describe it as black, darkness, or nothingness. Spirits seems to have to be bound to something like a weirwood, the second life of a warg, or light bringer to retain some semblance of who they were.
If i'm not mistaken, we do know, that the Children of the Forest (CotF) live very long/forever. The CotF, who made the NK was the same CotF, who sacrificed herself to help Bran and Hodor escape the 3ER cave. I thought that was the same CotF, wasn't it? So, the CotF must have been like 10k years old? Edit: ok, you confirm this later in the video. I thought you were saying earlier, that CotF might only get as old as humans.
To paraphrase Lord Varys, "A curse resides where men believe it resides. No more and no less.”
I've got to say, if weirwoods really were used in its construction, then it likely is actually cursed
You guys are ADORABLE together. I really like this collab/bromance! I can feel the love through my phone screen.
Harrenhal: the Titanic of castles.

Aged like milk!
Great content as always, but not a single expectation you had for the show came to pass
The show was a let down but I've moved so far beyond it. I'm still learning things about ASoIaF from the books and I'm excited about it. The show was the show and I'm ok with that. There's been healing
Thank you both for the support. Awesome chat!

This needs more likes, you two are awesome,, like always hype and love
I wouldn't mind the books being split, if only because really long books fall apart and then you have to replace them. I'm a librarian.

James Worrad wow, that's really interesting & different
ummmm..... mind blown
James Worrad - great thought!
Like Orson Card's Peccaninos... metamorphic stages.

Geekchat n batt productions came back today. Had me thinking about the whole gang of game of thrones. 2017, 18, 19. Gemma :) where is everyone Robert?
Where did the First men come from? We know where the Andals and the Rhoynar (Salt Dornishmen) came from.. Who the F has the characteristics & beliefs like the First Man?
Take a drink for every time this man says “Robert”

There is no way Littefinger is going to die the way he did in the show. Worst story line ever.
I would have to disagree. There are curses all over Game of Thrones. Grayscale is caused by a curse. I would even go as far as saying that WW are cursed.
What was done with all the Weirwood blocks that made up Castle White Walls from Dunk & Egg??
I tend to favor the theory that Balarion's black flame was somewhat radioactive or some equivalent. That connects with the Conquerors arguable infertility and the diminishing fertility of successive lords.
Great stream guys, sorry i missed it (as usual 😭)

Could the crypts at Winterfell lead to the underground tunnels to the isle of faces???
I don’t think there is a curse on Harrenhal as such but I do believe the place is somehow cursed which I know sounds like a contradiction
So what happened to kyle?? Where's he at Robert? 7/19/2021
Grrm will never finish both remaining books.. Probably we'll get Winds of Winter but A Dream of Spring will probably get released post-humously, like 10 yrs from now.. He'll die before he finishes them all... Valar Morghoulis...
Wouldn't Robin arryn be little fingers heir to harrenhall being his step son?
To marry Lysa Arryn LittleFinger did it as the Lord of Harrenhall, so wouldn’t it go to the the Arryns?
Well he wasn't right about the isle of faces having a impact with the show but I thought the same thing too
grrm has said recently his ublisher was pressuring him into splitting up twow into two books and he was refusing to do that(that could easily change though)
Were dragons used to avenge the Weirwoods?
Isle of faces = Avalon?

Terminator1337CoolDude
In the books leaf, (the CotF that does the deed) is only 200 years old, but in the show she is portrayed as much older..
Strange, that they would do such a massive change (for no apparent reason?)
Maybe there a curse because people believe there is a curse.
Oh Robert, you are a cutie pie.
53:23 staying hydrated?
Derek Hammond ...and happy. 😜
Is that guy high?
Listening to this makes me even more disappointed about the last seasons of the show. So many opportunities were missed.
13...
Why do you say "Robert" so much?
