I have finals tomorrow and don’t even have a driveway. So satisfying lol.
Get it on
Chloe B. Mine are next week
Stupid.
Lol your probably like me with 1600 videos on my watch later list because all I do is procrastinate
Chloe B. Same
Came here thinking there's no way I will spend 30 minutes of my life watching this video but now I watched the whole thing and want more.
We got much more!
Holy shit it was 30 minutes....
oh my god i just noticed it was 30 mins right after i just finished it.
Same
To Immortal Pickle: Even with the sped up video, one can jump around with the preview bar.
Really nice work. Now the homeowner can park his own A380 on his airfield.
🤣
I wish I could park an A380 in my driveway.
Oliver Roycroft mine doesn’t fit gotta keep it in dubai
Azhal Halil stfu
Lol
Great job! I've been in the construction trades for over 30 years myself and you cement heads bust your tails. I don't care what anyone else says, you really are artisans. Not only can you see via the video that you guys take great pride in your work, you can hear it in your narration. Even after the job is done and the video is posted, you've taken the time to read and reply to more comments than I think I've ever seen anyone else do on RUclips.
yes its a lot of fun
TY
I give all the contractors I’ve met credit. Its a lot of hard labor and attention to detail.
Nice unobtrusive background music, nice commentary, video fast forwarded and regular speed in all the right places, boss man and crew knowing exactly what they're doing, all the right tools, hell, this video is way better than 90% of the crap I watch on Netflix! Keep up the good work men! (Concrete and video work, both)
Thank you! We try our best!
100% agree, perfect template for what I want to do on my residential/commercial painting channel
thanks
Real nice job man! Great video too... what kind of camera do you use for this?
Yes. Agree totally. Not much more to add to that.
Homeowner- I don’t wanna ever mow my lawn.
Contractor- say no more.
haha! YES
My first thought when I saw how wide it would be.
Hahahaha
I've threatened to rip out my lawn, and put astro-turf down instead just so I don't have to mow anymore... Lol
@@OdellCompleteConcrete would you collaborate with gardeners to provide slow growing ground cover plants? there must be a lucrative way to lay concrete that's just large enough and also plant some attractive, labor-saving ground cover. time and effort would be saved, short term for you and long term for the gardener. you could squeeze in more jobs with smaller teams.
I am a "wood" guy and I bow to masters of trades I want no part of. (Drywall and painting!) This is the 6th video of yours I have watched and the quality and time you put into a project is outstanding. You are about making you projects last. I bow to you master and to your crew. Wish you guys were in the Mid-Atlantic area. I have since seen a few other "concrete" videos and made verbal comments; (Odell wouldn't do it that way." or Odell would have …) Stay safe.
I've never seen anybody take such care and skill in pouring a driveway. On new construction, I've seen people work so fast you'd swear all of the men have a hot date at 5:00 p.m. The jobs come out looking rushed with minimal attention to detail.
I'll pitch a tent if I have to
TY
Manon Mars 💀💀
@@OdellCompleteConcrete exactly stay till the job is done right much respect brother
Manon Mars I’ve worked as inspector and seen both happen. Honestly it depends on the job to them.
y’all are wrong man. we only need 3 persons to do that small driveway. slabs for the houses are more hard. you guys need more to learn.
I clicked into this video thinking well this is going to be boring turns out totally wrong most interesting thing I've watched in a while seen people having driveways poured never really knew or understood the work and planning that goes into doing it right. Thank you for making this content and sharing it.
YW
You've got yourself one hell of a crew there!
Yes I like to think so.
TY
Yeah for sure amazing crew.
I'd hire you in a heartbeat if you were in my city.

Me after watching: I’m subbing how does he only have 105k subs

Heres the owner of his company doing the hard work himself! Hes not "Subbing" it out and in this way maintains his quality outcome. Best channel on You Tube.
That's the key
It truly is a pleasure to watch skilled tradesmen performing their craft. Thanks for posting this beautifully executed Driveway job.
YW
probably the most basic jobs you had to do. little challenge everything is pretty straight forward if you know what you are doing. good job tho
I'm a master electrician and I love doing deep dives on other subs. I've found concrete to be one of the most rewarding, and fascinating things to learn about in the fields of plumbing, framing, roofing, landscaping and painting. I love the permanent quality it holds, like no one expects their toilet to last as long as a driveway. But they share factors like drainage and nature creeping in. Damn trees! I like to put my wires under a slab instead of dangling them overhead, as well. Very well narrated, lots of good useful details. Thank you.
TY
Always fun to watch competent craftsmen do their work.
TY
Nice video! You make it look SO easy! But I know better. Thanks for sharing
TY
It seems easy, but mega difficult too. Imagine screwing up halfway... Holy moly...
Clean clean work man!
Easy my ass! You look like you earned every penny. Beautiful job.
I love your work Mr.Odell because it is very neat work cheers sir
ty
It’s great to know this driveway has Crack Control. 23:44. So I️t won’t attract any drug dealers or crack smokers to want to stand on the beautiful work they did.I hope he also added weed control. Those stoners are something else. I’ll tell you who-at. (Hank Hill voice).

Holly shit! This makes me want to set up some trash cans and drive a DeLorean right into them!
I am kinda confused about your post what does it mean. (x🙂x) |no brain|
It's probably obvious but ya
@@puglord3038 : D
It's just that this house and driveway are similar to the one used in the movie Back to the Future. Someone commented that is in fact the same neighbourhood.
Having a Delorean is on my bucket list and you bet I am going to recreate some scenes with great satisfaction!
Oh ok 😀
Nice! It's like you read my mind and then I found your comment. Awesome.
One of the best videos I've ever watched. Now how to make a great concrete driveway
TY
Always great to see a craftsman who knows his work and takes pride in doing it well.
absolutely !
That looks like the McFly house at the end of Back to the Future.
Yes
9303 Roslyndale Ave Pocoima California. It is the same house
Nice commentary throughout the video, very well presented.
TY
Its rare to see someone on RUclips who knows how to correctly work with concrete! Good Job! Everyone else wants to pour soupy concrete, no reinforcement and only 3". Then they wonder why it doesn't hold up. BTW, I also vibrate mine in, probably overkill....
TY
When people holler about the cost of the job simply ask them to watch your video and count all the tools, equipment, and machinery it takes to do the job properly. Not to mention the manpower. Homeowners dont realize the knowledge required and considerations needed like proper grading, control and expansion joints, reinforcements, tying into the existing house slab, soil compacting, etc. It's not just forms and pouring. You covered it all, and your skills, knowledge, and perfection mentality are clearly seen in your work. Mike Rowe would be proud. Great video. Thanks for taking the time to produce it. Hopefully it will lead to more work than you can imagine.
SOunds good
I hope so
No ego all info. Chill, let's you focus. Great prep video

Marvelous outcome. Thanks for taping and sharing.

I really like watching your videos. Thanks for all the work you put into it.

You are like a scientist / chemist / artist in your work. Great video.
TY ! means alot
I used to do this a few years ago. I started my own lawn maintenance business. And this reminded me of the fun times I had doing concrete. It's hard work. But fun
I concur
I love their work how they level everything perfectly and take a lot of time in taking preparation for the pouring
ty
I live rural and have a couple huge slabs like that to pour but I'm OCD so after watching all the technique your guys use I wont try and DIY because It'll look like a kid did it. Thanks for convincing me to use a professional :)

Happy to see a new drive way going in at Marty Mcfly's house. Great job!
He went virtually futuristic on it
It's so satisfying watching your concrete work. Beautiful as usual.
Very nice to see a construction video that is not just a quick time lapse. Very detailed and informative, not keeping your methods secret. As a labourer looking to create my own contracting business, this helps immensely. Thank you. Great job, keep up the good work.

TY
Astonishing! I'm using this video to teach my bricklayers how to make small scale "polished concrete floors" for industrial use. The only diference between yours and my technique are:
1) We do not use that long bull float, because we never saw one. Surely we will try next time.
2) We always use a screed vibrator
NIce i would like a screed vibrator
20 yards, you got your workout that day
we dumped some concrete
20 yards was an easy day, when I was doing concrete. I'll agree, though. Concrete is hard work. Especially when you do such a great job!
jason try doing 50
lol "some"?
Im having 17 yards dumped on 2 different driveways at my house tomorrow.! Im so excited!
Thank you for sharing your work! You're a true professional.

Great video great crew. I learned with a great crew of old timers 25 years ago, you take pride in your wotk like they did. I pour once in awhile now but nobody does the extra like you do and my mentor any more. Very fun watching you guys

very very thorough..everything accounted for..this is work u can b proud of.
Well there's no base just dirt, I'm really curious why there wasn't any used, even if the dirt is very hard I've never done or seen a job use no base especially on a drive way
Great Video! Excellent Job!

Awesome Video! Awesome Job. Wow

Too many times people don’t glue area drain lines because they think it doesn’t matter. The common issue is the joints leak moisture into the soil and roots follow the moisture into the pipe. That’s why it’s common to have landscape drains clogged with roots. Clean work man. You guys make it look so easy.
Do you ever use Helix Micro Rebar? I’m wondering if it’s any good.
No but I will when it becomes more available
Another really beautiful job Odell! I've watched quite a few of your videos all very good work and the boss is always in the thick of it. Love that. You know your stuff, all of you do. Keep up the great work and feel good about doing the best job you can.

@@OdellCompleteConcrete what does something like this cost to have done?
@@demetrius7872 i wonder too, but I would want this man and crew to do it. Great job guys.
How much was it for that job ?
@@demetrius7872 I'd guess that was a $15,000 drive way.

I've never seen anyone landscape using a bobcat/front loader. Watching it slide off the layer of grass was very satisfying.
Works well
You guys in College watching this can think about doing a Trade, learn the skills
for sure
I am only problem is to many unprofessional contractors that do the work for a third of the cost
Yes. Lifelong career being a tradesman. Sad thing is the "RUclips generation" of young people don't seem to want to work hard for anything anymore.
Anyone in college should never be looking to pour concrete...trust me hit those books after that next line!!!
@@17fourU back breaking work in the 🌞, I'm sure college students would truly miss this line of work.
Why wasn't a gravel base installed prior to pouring? I get the soil is hard, but drainage is important.
Not here, no rain no freeze and beach weather everyday
It's dependant on the psi of the mud. If it's a real hard concrete like 2500-3500 you wont need it
@@jeremiahgoodwin3408
get it on
@@OdellCompleteConcrete we use 4500 psi out at Lockheed Martin
12,000 at the World trade center, no water was used it was mixed with epoxy. The concrete trucks had 45 minutes to get the concrete across the Brooklyn bridge and in the building or the mix would be no good.. if you had to drill a hole in it you would go through a fresh drill bit. I had to drill well over 5,000 holes :/… funny little story, I forget what floor it was but one of them failed the Pressure test on the core sample after the pour. Was about 7:45 am and about 30 laborors started up the jackhammers to remove all the concrete. When I say it was loud I mean it, the whole building was deafening. All the rats in the whole building started to panic and for some reason decided to run up. When they got to the top floor they just leapt straight off the side of the building LOL, it was like that movie "the Happening" hundreds and hundreds of rats committing suicide.
Awesome work! BMWs everywhere on the street. I love it!
top of the line

Awesome work mate. I particularly loved how you looked ahead and planned around the various changes that might affect the driveway. Just great work and I would definitely use your company.
TY
Nice job! What an improvement over the old driveway and nice and wide now.
Just curious though about how the new California water regulations affect you and the homeowner when it comes to these kind of projects. Is there a special permit now for water usage?
Again, great job!
No permit or that im aware of and TY!
My understanding with either permanent or seasonal water restrictions wherever they are implemented is that commercial work is invariably exempt.
Its more so by city regulations, When i lived in santa barbara 5 years ago, their came a point whenit was pretty much illegal to water your lawns/ front yards, many neighbors were getting tickets from the city. I moved a couple hours down south and their rules allowed you to water i believe 2-3 days a week. After last el nino a lot of areas are now out of the drought but there are still lots of areas that are not out of the drought being most dependent on which resivoire have water. Santa Barbara i know is still very low in water reserve being lake cachuma is 30 percent of capacity (last time i checked) and they voted in to rebuild/ put into service an old salt water desalination plant that was built in the 70s during the last major drought. However, by the time the plant was full operable in the 70s they were out of the drought and only really used it for a couple years till turning it off line and selling much of the equipment.
I heard that story to , that's why there hesitant in building another, because the drought will end.
In my East coast area, there's a limitation on the percentage of the front that may be utilized for driveways; no more than 35%. Only reason I can figure is maybe for water drainage and absorption, seeing how there are no sewers. Guess it's the opposite kind of regulation, getting rid of excess water vs. using too much- ;)
