This is how the world should work. Looking out for one another. Tom didn’t have to give you all that wood to cut up for firewood and you didn’t have to cut him nice cherry boards. But you were both looking out for each other. That’s what makes the world go round in my book
Over 30 years ago I made a three leg table in college in a woodworking class. The lumber had to be purchased separately as it was not included in the class. The cheapest lumber for the project was Cherry and it was $20 I know that does not seem like a lot now but back then that equated to a half days wages at my job. I could buy groceries for the week for $25. I made the table entirely by hand over the course of the semester and put a hand rubbed finish on it. It came out beautiful and I got a 100% on the project. I gifted the table to my mother and she still has and to this day. The cherry has darkened over the years and in my opinion it looks better now than it did then. I love the way Cherry ages. God bless you and your family.
Nice cherry. One of my favorite woods to work with. It was great of you to return the favor from a pile of wood he gave you. That is what neighbors, friends and business is about.
Nice to see Tom back at Mike's! Tom jokingly said this mill might wind up behind his building, well maybe it can be because there's a 450 Woodmizer coming to the Morgans! Cutting that log only took a few minutes and made two men very happy, I'm telking you if I could go back 40 years I'd buy me a Woodmizer mill! But I do get to enjoy it here though. I guess you better get busy and clean up the wood there Mike, what w the new skid steer coming - I can't wait to see it's results of the renewable resources processing area, yay! Thanks Mike for another great video!👍🚜❤
Hi Mike When we had WoodMizer out to service our saw, they told us that when you see blade chatter in your material that means you are cutting too slow. Very counterintuitive, but they said the chatter is caused by the blade wandering and not cutting new wood. We found that running faster eliminated the chatter. The speed can vary from piece to piece. Tom, if that concrete career doesn't work out, you have a lot of potential as a cabinet builder! Good job 👍🤗
Mike that’s what so good about you and your RUclips channel here. You’re always a good and considerate man. You never just do the taking, you give back to a fellow man. Plus you’re always taking care of your neighbors. God looks out to people like you!
It's great to see people working together. In life 1 plus 1 is way more than 2. Keep showing the world how much better we can be when we support each other...
Hey guys.big John here from 2nd chance sawmill in stoney creek Ontario 🇨🇦 Canada.ive been watching your videos for quite some time.i feel we have a great passion in common. I've only been collecting firewood from arborist for 4 years and logs from predevelopers actually wrking their equipment in exchange for logs.more fun.i was the first in Ontario to purchase the lx 25 woodmiser hobby mill.1.5 year now. I'm just now retired as a stonemason to this amazing new joyfull hobby.however it's growing fast to be more then I could examine.thankyou for your inspiration and family oriented enterprise.keep up the light you all shed.
Where is the REAAALLLLLLY Like button??? Man, that was pure emotional adrenalin, Mike! Just yesterday, I finished up a 20" lazy susan made of some virgin timber cherry that I have had stickered and stacked for over 40 years...and it is some truly beautiful stuff. So, when you opened up that cherry log and that gorgeous wood came jumping out, I was over the moon happy. I have lots more to say, but it would be too much for you to read. THANKS a million for involving Tom in the sawing process. That wood will turn into some wonderful stories that last generations---and you were a major part of it, Mike! SUUUUUUUPER!
Beautiful Cherry lumber, We would harvest Ice mid winter from the lake and store it in a shed . After lining the floor with sawdust. Then layer with 2' square cubes and insulate each layer with sawdust. Ice was a big cash product at Dad's gas station. Along side of camp firewood. It was sold by the pound. We got pretty good with an icepick marking and cutting from the big cubes then hang on the scale with ice hongs.
Well that worked out very well. You got all that cut and then showed Tom how to run the mill and let him finish the log. He was excited about getting some lumber. That was real nice of you Mike. Cool video. 👍👍👍❤️Both of you had a giving heart.
This is where two professionals can help each other and its a dream come true. Firewood is a given.... sells twelve months out of the year but lumber is not a necessity so sells when the need comes. Your well located so it probably would sell well should you choose to do so. My son is now getting a mill and wants dad to teach him how to operate it... I just may make a fool of myself after this many years... he brought home a really nice tractor for this whole thing.. He is a superintendent on the largest gold mine in alaska and well loved there but so tired of the hectic schedule. Its a six figure job and yet not happy and fifty nine years of age so if you do the numbers, he is my step son but we never sort chairs at the table and he does love me so I guess I had best step up to the table. I keep trying to figure out if you do sell lumber on a regular basis or are waiting for that kiln. ? Later Mike
I really was quite surprised when Tom’s channel all of a sudden became a woodworking channel (my other addiction on RUclips). Can’t wait to see what he cooks up for this wood.
Good morning everyone, 34º in Kansas City. Sorry I’m late, stopped getting alerts. Heading to the tree farm to open it up for the year this weekend. Stay safe, be humble & kind and have a day. 256k
Great to see the mill going again, we finally were able to get good weather to fire ours back up this week. Finished a 2 day run of cedar 1x8s, 2x4's and 4x4's for a guy making raised garden beds. You could cut and split that pith up for smoking wood. Loved the video and have a good day.
Well that was a great surprise for Tom!, great looking cherry!. Its amazing how much lumber you can get out of a log that didnt look all that great!. Morgans good day!.
What a nice save Mike, good to see Tom will get some great use out of the wood you both milled from that Cherry Tree. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
A good morning for some good lumber! Cherry is wonderful wood. Nice way to repay the firewood haul. It was also nice to see the mill back in operation. Any pool update?😂 Marcus from Chesapeake VA. Hello OWTM guys!
Mike, you seem to get along with Tom really well and I'm so glad you refer people to his site. I now watch both yours and his and enjoy both. As you do Tom brings his family into his videos and like yours, both of you have such great families. Thank you both for allowing us into both your work and your family lives.
Nice cherry lumber. I'm sure Tom appreciates the save and I'm sure he'll make something nice from it. Have a great week end. Oh, it may just been the angle of video but the saw sure looks like it was pulling to be side.
Mike mentioned it in a prior video. He had hit something and dulled the chain to the point it wouldn't cut. May take another sharpening to completely fix.
Not people get to drive the family Woodmizer. Talk about privilege! I watch Concrete with the Hauses. Ive got a whole new level of appreciation for that skilled trade.🙂
Great video Mike. You're never done teaching Mike. I learn something different every time you use the saw mill. Very interesting to see the how and why. Again, always giving back. Tom was very happy with what that log turned into. He was already thinking about his next project. Stay safe. Our best to Melissa, Eva and Hunter.

Nice gesture! Just got a quote to close in our pole barn.....lumber prices so sky high now...but we have no choice, we have to keep progress moving forward on our farm build.
Mike, you answered my question. I was going to ask how you set the height with the Mill but you explained it when Tom was running it. Well done. Nice lumber. Good job. Happy SAVE!
Good morning everyone!!!🌎🌞👍😊 It looks like a nice day today ☺ Mike even the ugly logs will surprise you with awesomeness when you open them up on the mill 😊👍👍👍👍 that was in my opinion some premium cherry 🍒 😊😊😊😊👍
Good morning Morgans. I’ll be ordering the coupler tool as well. On my bx24 I have a grapple with electric hydraulic and don’t think it can be depressurized. It’s a fight to connect it. Never heard about this until now. Thanks Mike.
Yes Mike, shavings and sawdust are a good insulator. We used to cover blocks of ice with 2 1/2 to 3 feet of shavings, in our ice house, and they would last for 4 to 5 months. Cut out of the lake in the winter and saved most of the summer. We shipped cream to the cannery only once a week so the cans of cream were kept cool in the ice house prior to shipping.
When you mentioned the sawdust stated frozen a long time, reminded me of Dad telling me of storing lake ice all summer in the ice house...you guessed it, sawdust used to keep the ice....great insulation!
Some pretty awesome lumber for stove wood!!! Lol Watched the first vid of Tom's that you shot for him and haven't missed one. He has such a great crew!!! Can't wait to see some of your woodworking when you start. Give Hunter a Hello & have a great day
How do you not need anymore firewood? (2:56). You can and should always stock pile firewood that you get, even if you have to put a tarp over it, you can never have too much of that firewood...if you ever run out of firewood in the middle of a really bad cold winter you'll understand.
Frozen saw dust. And, now you see why it was used in ice houses to keep ice cut from lakes and ponds and stored in sawdust filled ice houses or use in the summer. It has amazing insulative qualities and was plentiful in the day.
Ahhhhh Mike .... Tom will have a mill bfor to long!! When are you getting the Kiln?? That's a must in your areas weather, damp, grey, icky from mid October to mid April..... sure would expedite the drying process..... I wonder if you could build one and heat it with wood heat? hmmmmm that would be a project eh?
It’s good to see a guy with no sawing experience do so well with the saw mill. Of course a great teacher is extremely important. Thanks for the video saving lumber from fire wood! Wayne
Mike, If I'm not mistaken, that center with the pit, if you rip that pith out, what's left is quarter sawn. If the log is big enough, it's worth the trouble.
Good Morning Morgans!! I always wondered how the controls for the sawmill operated... it's all clear now!!! What is that fluid tank at the other end of the mill from the operator's station?
Does Tom have a planer? I love cherry. I built a cherry chest for my wife and several cherry tables. The grain can be beautiful if treated right. I like just keeping it natural with a clear finish. It will get redder with age.

In the country That’s what we call neighbors but we’re mostly farmOriented type people.
That is exactly what I was thinking wouldn't it be nice.
Restores my faith in life to see this given all the negative stuff we are exposed to.. thanks.
Rescuing that cherry from the land of misfit logs was a nice 👍 payback and further cemented your friendship with Tom.
I saw what you did there. (Grooaan....)

What a great way for two people to work together to the benefit of both. I can see where Tom will eventually be the new owner of the Woodmizer.

Hi Mike an Tom have a day love from TEXAS
Good save on that log! Beautiful cherry for a great friend.
Great looking wood. That was so cool watching you teach the basics of using your saw mill. Well done!!!!
Good too see I'm not only working wirh an Eastwing solid shank hammer @ 8:08
I'd say Tom is a jack of all trades. Took to the saw pretty quick. Super nice gentleman. I thought the new saw had arrived! Lol

Those will be some fine concrete forms. (jk) Looks great! Glad you could rescue that one and share it.
That would make some Beautiful Waynes Coating.
Great to see the mill operating again!
Sawdust was used to insulate ice blocks, before modern refrigeration. Cheers.
Really enjoyed this one, thanks Mike
These cold mornings would be a good time to fetch that oak from across the street.

Hello Hunter
Have a day
Well Mike when you get your new mill Tom will probably have a home for the one you have now.
U could save the sawdust spread it out on the lawn as it decomposes it will help the soil
Tom is getting a sawmill!!!!!
Maybe make a little troth to catch saw dust 6" deep wide enough for tractor bucket line with concrete...
Easy clean up?
Mike, If I'm not mistaken, that center with the pit, if you rip that pith out, what's left is quarter sawn. If the log is big enough, it's worth the trouble.
Oh boy! Outdoors with the Hauses coming up?
Nice looking cherry lumber.
MIKE, good content and great company Yinz guys ! Hava a Day!
That wood looks good
Hey Mike I've seen guys use those tiles scraper for scraping floors they'll run it down each side of it and it knocks all that debris off
Good morning from sunny Salem Ohio.

Good Morning Morgans!!

What is that fluid tank at the other end of the mill from the operator's station?
Ha, convince Hause he needs a sawmill and you have a buyer when your new mill arrives. Smart, Mikey, smart...
HI MIKE that is a nice red 🍒 cherry log it made nice lumber most has a darker color it still looks good OMG 3 4 2022
Does Tom have a planer? I love cherry. I built a cherry chest for my wife and several cherry tables. The grain can be beautiful if treated right. I like just keeping it natural with a clear finish. It will get redder with age.
It seems to me from watching you run your sawmill, that the little chute where the sawdust exits could be modified so that the sawdust would shoot farther from where you walk.
Mike, reach out to some animal husbandry folks around that might be interested in clean bedding material for their livestock. You may make a few extra bucks off your "waste" pile. Just a thought.
