@@sarcasmxkate no their point was that it actually made the darkling better in the show-but he’s NOT he’s unequivocally manipulative and abusive, but having her kiss him first and him ask consent actually contradicts his character. Also at the end in the book darling kisses Alina again while she’s captured on skiff, and she takes that out. It’s so controlling but they soften his character.
@@CM-pf1xc I get what you're saying and I'm not a Darklina shipper, not for the show and not for the books, but I still stand by the decision Ben made. PitPat trust issues and a willingness to manipulate when needed. Drives me nuts how many of the good guys trust to easy and when the smartest easiest thing to do is lie they dont cause they are "good."
Honestly my biggest issue with this episode is Alina switching sides so quickly. Like in the books it makes sense, even though she’s physically attracted to the Darkling, she still doesn’t trust him at all, even when she wants him to do her. But in the series, because she DOES instigate the relationship, her flip feels kind of out of nowhere and because the plot demands it. Like despite hearing all the scary things about Kirigan, he seems to have been the nicest to her while she’s here and clearly trusts her and she him. So why would she suddenly doubt him and run away because of Baghra’s information? In the book I guess it could be excused because Alina frankly got dragged around by the plot a lot, but here, she’s a way more active protag so it doesn’t work as well imo. Anyway, can’t wait for the next review!
Yeah, that switch was too quick. I wish they did something about that. I mean they could have solved that problem if Alina found her letters to Mal in the Darling's room right before Baghra came, giving Alina solid proof that she was being manipulated. Then her switching sides and believing Baghra would have felt more natural.
@@blueberries1082 True! That would have been a good scene. Like it even could have been after the kiss - she's wandering around his office and sees the letters and then Baghra interrupts her just as she's learning the truth.

When Alina got in that box I was yelling. It was hillarious. I couldn't cope. The heist went so well. I felt so much emotion, I was laughing so hard, it was the greatest moment in the show.
Okay, so I forced my sister to read Soc, then she watched the show, and now she's a full-blown Darkling fan. Zoya-I think-was racist towards Alina because of nationalism, Shu vs. Ravka like you see with Kuwei in CK, but the Suli aren’t an enemy. And I think Zoya is supposed to be Suli in this, so I don’t think she was being racist to Inej. I think she was actually sort of defending her.

A crime you cut out the scene where Genya brushed Alina's lips The white circus Alina was the best portrayal of racism this show did tbh. Jesper and the Horse boy about to play ping pong "Goddamnit, I have to entertain all these white people." Doubt her stunt double had a problem with that I really think this series could have benefited from doing a sort of animated exposition scene at the start of just explaining the political system. Think of like the ATLA opening. I swear this show needed atleast 1 more episode.
I think in the books, if my goldfish brain remembers correctly, that Baghra wanted to tell Alina at the last possible moment so she could be trained and have a chance to stand against Kirigan
As the video progresses you can see Cindy's plot to steal Inej's love from Kaz's big hat-wearing head thickening, but like, honestly, *same*. Also, kinda of tempted on writing some fanfiction where Cindy's part of the Six of Crows universe, like this sarcastic assassin who's too smart for her own good, always carries different books around because, idk, she actually really wants to be a bard or something and travel the word but was given no choice while growing up, and, well... Falls in love with Inej, writes her dumb lovey poems, and they sail away together- I'm in way over my head with this huh.
it was sure weird how quick things were happening but I was just so happy and relieved that Alina immediately believed Bhagra, over some shady dude. sure she wasn’t very nice to her but it was a nice show of female solidarity and looking out for each other
Not Cindy thirsting for Inej but when Elias thirsts for Kaz, she shuts him down. I have never felt more represented in my own relationship because me too, in love with every woman ever
She didn't tell Alina cos (at least in the books) she needed her to stay to make her powerful, but once she realised about the amplifiers and thought Alina wasn't strong enough, she told her to leave so the Darkling wouldn't get power through her.
My school forced us to read books and made it a competition between sections which sucks cause it hindered my love for reading. I watched this show randomly without knowing anything about it, finished it in one sitting and it got me back into reading lmao oh and Inej made me question my sexuality even more
also the fact that Baghra had like basically seen her son and alina have a massive kissing fest😭😭also i think baghra didn’t tell alina earlier because she wanted to try and help her use her powers more and get her more powerful before she had to leave
this was my fave ep! also the most frustrating ep! like other than the plot holes (with Baghra), it is SO weird that they didn’t let Alina discover for herself Kirrigan’s ulterior plans? like she’s left there in Kirrigan’s room/war room already, why not have her look around or find a letter or some proof? it would’ve been a more believable and organic way to deliver the twist (+giving Alina more agency), instead of having another character explain it. enjoying these reviews still tho!!! am glad u r still watching!!! :D
this episode is the best imo mainly because of the church scene with kaz finally being more like book!kaz and inej killing for the first time to save his life
I’m not a Darklina stan, but I’ve been in love with Ben Barnes since I was like 12 and I saw him as Prince Caspian, so that make out scene def awoke something in me lol. But to be fair I’m basically in love with everyone in the main cast so no matter who kisses who I’ll be happy. (Also I love Kaz so much but he looks so dumb in that hat, thank you for always committing to telling it like it is).
Wow Cindy you are really taking your time with the episodes...Thank you so much for feeding us with your reaction while everyone is awaiting season 2 >
1:52 whenever cindy's voice (cracks?) like this, i keep remembering when she explained the three brothers in spin the dawn to her friend while they're high
As a non book reader I was so confused as hell as to Baghra's reveal. Like, if she didn't want Kirigan to have the Sun summoner then why did she choose to train Alina? Why wait until the Stag was found, when she could've told Alina right away that Kirigan can't be trusted? Also istg Alina getting into the Crow's carriage was the funniest shit to have ever happened. 🤣 And yes Jesper was a legend. Having sex while on a mission. We love a bi king's priorities.

Falls in love with Inej, writes her dumb lovey poems, and they sail away together-
I'm in way over my head with this huh.
Omg 🥰
IF YOU DON'T DO THAT I WILL HELP
OKAY BUT I'D ACTUALLY LOVE TO READ THAT THOUGH
Like, Cindy shamelessly flirting with Inej while Kaz is just standing there like, "I'm... Literally right here"
it was sure weird how quick things were happening but I was just so happy and relieved that Alina immediately believed Bhagra, over some shady dude. sure she wasn’t very nice to her but it was a nice show of female solidarity and looking out for each other
This is a representation of what we should all do when we find out our partner is abusive: Run.
Thank you guys for the heterosexual rep in this video ✊😔
of course
ellias and cindy having more chemistry in this video than kirigan and alina
omg the SLANDER against darklina with this dsklajdklsalk
facts
Oo shots fired
Not Cindy thirsting for Inej but when Elias thirsts for Kaz, she shuts him down. I have never felt more represented in my own relationship because me too, in love with every woman ever
HAHAHAHA yes
That honestly bummed me out. I love Kaz and I don't get her hate for him. Her reactions are so funny but it's getting harder to enjoy.
Cindy is the least straight person I know and yet she thrives in a heterosexual relationship. We call that multitasking.
My thoughts exactly 😂
i cant get over how jesper’s coat looked so much like a kefta-
SAME
She didn't tell Alina cos (at least in the books) she needed her to stay to make her powerful, but once she realised about the amplifiers and thought Alina wasn't strong enough, she told her to leave so the Darkling wouldn't get power through her.
Her setting herself for the kidnapping had me rolling on the ground for hours 😂😂😂😂😂
Cindy protecting girls who turned 18 from men in their 20s,, we love to hear it
I don’t care that you are watching them late, I am always right upfront for every new release of your reactions.
thank you!!
@@withcindy Keep up the awesome videos Cindy! We are here for you.
My school forced us to read books and made it a competition between sections which sucks cause it hindered my love for reading. I watched this show randomly without knowing anything about it, finished it in one sitting and it got me back into reading lmao
oh and Inej made me question my sexuality even more
15:13 the fact that when she cries over him in her room later Kaz will just ignore it :')
LOLLL
Alina is tired of all of the bullshit so she kidnapped herself ✨QUEEN MOMENTS ✨
"i dont have to wait for a man to kidnap me.... ill kidnap myself!!" feminism
"The lines on his forehead are literally thicker than his bangs!" LOL
facts are facts
That is so true about Darklina stans having no room to celebrate! 😂 They literally sunk that ship as soon as it sailed 🥲 low key a little too quickly
Cindy's attacks against the S&B cast's hats gives me life
only inej can work a hat
also the fact that Baghra had like basically seen her son and alina have a massive kissing fest😭😭also i think baghra didn’t tell alina earlier because she wanted to try and help her use her powers more and get her more powerful before she had to leave
"i say this as a feminist. i'm only supporting women here" oh my god 😂
yes !!! feminism!!
Rhysand who? 🤣
this was my fave ep! also the most frustrating ep! like other than the plot holes (with Baghra), it is SO weird that they didn’t let Alina discover for herself Kirrigan’s ulterior plans? like she’s left there in Kirrigan’s room/war room already, why not have her look around or find a letter or some proof? it would’ve been a more believable and organic way to deliver the twist (+giving Alina more agency), instead of having another character explain it. enjoying these reviews still tho!!! am glad u r still watching!!! :D
this episode is the best imo mainly because of the church scene with kaz finally being more like book!kaz and inej killing for the first time to save his life
Heck yesss
I’m not a Darklina stan, but I’ve been in love with Ben Barnes since I was like 12 and I saw him as Prince Caspian, so that make out scene def awoke something in me lol.
But to be fair I’m basically in love with everyone in the main cast so no matter who kisses who I’ll be happy.
(Also I love Kaz so much but he looks so dumb in that hat, thank you for always committing to telling it like it is).
Wow Cindy you are really taking your time with the episodes...Thank you so much for feeding us with your reaction while everyone is awaiting season 2 >
ill try to be faster this month!!
1:52 whenever cindy's voice (cracks?) like this, i keep remembering when she explained the three brothers in spin the dawn to her friend while they're high
ahh i remember those days
Cindy it’s been a month. A MONTH. Wasting time reading Crusty J Maas
this roast is valid
I read that Archie was the one who chose Alina's favourite flower to be an iris because that's his daughters name 🥺
OMGGGGGG 🥺
Your dynamic makes me smile :)
thank u :D
Your dedication to the comment section makes my day!
thanks i try!!
Darklina reading that scene in Ruin and Rising: This is just extreme knifeplay tho
NOT ELLIAS NODDING AT THE CAMERA EVER SO SLIGHTLY WHEN CINDY GUESSED THE THING ABOUT THE FLOWERS... IM DEAD
"That's me entering the fold for you."
Ellias, WHAT???????????????
Edit: IT JUST GETS MORE WILD AND RAUNCHY
yes
As a non book reader I was so confused as hell as to Baghra's reveal.
Like, if she didn't want Kirigan to have the Sun summoner then why did she choose to train Alina?
Why wait until the Stag was found, when she could've told Alina right away that Kirigan can't be trusted?
Also istg Alina getting into the Crow's carriage was the funniest shit to have ever happened. 🤣
And yes Jesper was a legend. Having sex while on a mission. We love a bi king's priorities.
Also ;she could have told the king the truth but she did not .
I'm all here for Cindy and her "boyfriend's" reaction. 😉
yayyyy
There's so much to unpack in that title-
yes indeed
6:18 I don't think that scene was internalized racism- that yt lady called inej zemeni and Zoya corrected her (annoyed, rightfully so)
