I don’t think that’s true, I think mark and Tom were writing faster songs with Scott, when Travis came they started writing slower more mid tempo songs
Nothing but love and respect for Travis because he definitely deserves it but Scott was their drummer on some awesome albums. He can say he was part of Dude Ranch, one of the greatest albums of all time (as far as I'm concerned). No one can ever take that away from him.
Theyve been my favorite band through all my youth and more. im 25, almost 26 now..and i have one big problem: everytime i hear one of their songs i need at least one hour re-listening old stuff, even if i dont have time and im in a hurry for something. You can never forget your first love.
same bro, I'm 26, now more in HC Punk scene. But every week I spend 1 hour of my time listening Blink, never forget our first love! just see your comment was posted 10yo, it's time to come back on this EP
Don't get me wrong. But this is the top of what the band could have achieved with their original proposal. From here everything goes up (and it did). Also: shout out to that closing instrumental on 'Waggy' from 2:14 onwards.
first of all saying that enema was their best album is just madness. for YOU it was. for me the self titled was the most game changing music experience ever. all of their records are good but for different reasons. SECONDLY 10 tracks off of the enema record were written (the drum parts) by Scott. Travis just played it on the record... writing music as a drummer is something else... Scott deserves more credit thats for sure... loved to see them performing just once again together
Dude ranch is number 1 and enema is number 2. Ur crazy thinking self titled is number 1. Too much FX throughout the entire album and the melodys werent as good. My opinion tho
Self Titled may also be my favorite with Enema just behind it, but you're completely wrong about Scott writing 10 songs on Enema. First of all he was out of the band mid way through '98 and Enema didn't even start recording until January '99. As the dude above me said the only contribution to Enema from Scott was Mutt because it was originally recorded in '98. The dude was a shitty drummer and some of you are such blind fanboys you can't see past this. Mark and Tom have said numerous times how much better Travis made the band not only with skill but for his creativity.
@Dont cry wolf: I like that this one is a little faster. Mark sounds more Socal skater/surfer in this version. The production for the dude ranch is better I agree.
how is it possible to think this version is superior to the one from dude ranch? That never made sense to me but for some sort of nostalgic reasons. I miss the back up vocals that Mark did by him self in the bridge and chorus. And the whole arrangement of the song is much more thourougly thought out and complete on dude ranch.

This version is so much more punk than the one in Dude Ranch. That's why Uranus' Waggy > Dude Ranch's Waggy.
At least for me, it's just that the Dude Ranch version is too slow, and at this point Blink was just a skate punk band. The scence in skate punk is to be fast and clear. I like both versions tho, but this is... I don't know... more energic.
uma das melhores músicas do blink, saudades da época em que Blink era Blink( se é que me entendem) velhos tempos, músicas fodas e uma época que nunca mais irá voltar ,-, ,-,
Same goes for Rise Against. Mr Precision was an awesome guitarist but when he left after The Unraveling, Todd Mohney came and made the greatest album ever (Revolutions Per Minute) and made Rise Against the greatest. Then when Todd left after Rpm, Chris Chasse continued the amazingness, slightly less though, just because Rpm is so damn good. Then when Chris left and Zach Blair joined, Rise Against just put out atrocious radio rock songs like Savior and Help is on the Way. Listening to Torches now
And why is there a bunch of comments about Scott? How can people belive he was the heart of the band, or say the band has never been the same since he left? it's always been Mark and Tom. It would of been The Mark and Tom show not the Mark Tom and Scott show.
its not the same since he left. they stopped being a punk band. the songs got slower and overproduced. blink signed to a major and they became mainstream whores all over mtv and teen girl mags. just listen to how raw this is. big deifference after scott
That had nothing to do with Scott leaving. That's just the direction Blink was heading in, regardless of what you think of it. And they were never a punk band, dude. They've always been pop punk.
+jazzblaster Tom said in a recent documentary that yes, Travis was tired of playing the same beats and wanted to change it up (thank god). Tom said he didn't know what to do, so he told Travis to come up with something. So yeah, if you wanna blame Travis for adding some creativity to the band's rhythm, then go ahead. But he's also said that the band's progression wasn't forced by the "mainstream". They were just the songs they ended up writing.
+jazzblaster Tom also said that he used to play as fast as he could because that was basically what he wanted at the time. Again, no one forced them to slow their music down, it just became that way. They've played slower tunes with Scott and fast tunes with Travis. As for complaining about the cleaner production quality-- grow up, dude. They got into better studios and came out with a cleaner sound. Sorry Enema isn't low quality enough for you.
i have no problem with quality recordings. dude ranch had the perfect sound but it sounded organic. when there is so much production that the songs sound fake and processed then yes, it makes it unlistenable for me. the vocals on enema sound so processed. and i never said anyone forced them to do anything. i was saying when scott left and travis joined, the songs got noticably slower. yeah, both drummers had slow and fast songs but scott had way more fast songs and a few slow ones while travis had a lot of slow or midtempo songs and only a few fast ones.
To me the peaked at Siren Song, Sufferer and the Witness was better than Unraveling, but not as good as the previous two to me, and, well, Appeal to reason and endgame just dont satisfy it for me. and yes im aware that your comment is 5 months old.
"i'll just hide in my room until then" glad they changed that lyric for dude ranch.
Both drummers are equally great Scott just gave the band more of a punk feeling.
Definitely

i think this is blink's finest/most sophisticated song
Theyve been my favorite band through all my youth and more. im 25, almost 26 now..and i have one big problem: everytime i hear one of their songs i need at least one hour re-listening old stuff, even if i dont have time and im in a hurry for something. You can never forget your first love.
insidesteplab damn your first love.... that speaks volumes with me and my fascination with this band
Beautifully stated man!

just see your comment was posted 10yo, it's time to come back on this EP
Scott defined Blinks style and Travis revealed it.
Don't get me wrong. But this is the top of what the band could have achieved with their original proposal.

That's the best version of both, it's just amazing

Hm...Idk if you listen to the version of Mutt that Travis did Compared to Scott they play it pretty differently
Dude ranch is number 1 and enema is number 2. Ur crazy thinking self titled is number 1. Too much FX throughout the entire album and the melodys werent as good. My opinion tho
Only drums Scott did for enema is mutt

I've figured it out! The people that bring up Scott, this is there way of letting the world know that they are such huge fans.
my favorite 💙
Just bought this record!!! 23 days and counting!
this is what I call REAL blink-182 :)
@Dont cry wolf: I like that this one is a little faster. Mark sounds more Socal skater/surfer in this version. The production for the dude ranch is better I agree.
@bowlin182 raynor days for the win. true punk rock
The best version!
Better version, but I miss the last lines from the end.
Love this version of the song!
Wow man, I fucking love this song! Both versions are awesome!

I think some people just like faster songs. i like both
I prefer this one because it's faster and sounds more punk, but to each their own, I love Waggy's version too.
how come Scott was never picked up by another band?
I think he stopped playing music to focus on his studies. But I agree, he was talented
He was. He's played a few bands, but I don't think he's in one now

This version is way better than Dude Ranch.

2024. Hi

Anyone else noticed the Alien is just wearing a dressing gown/ robe?
It's not about Travis, its about music evolution and their's as well. Or did you expect Old School to be trending forever??
To me the peaked at Siren Song, Sufferer and the Witness was better than Unraveling, but not as good as the previous two to me, and, well, Appeal to reason and endgame just dont satisfy it for me.
and yes im aware that your comment is 5 months old.
i like all but common, Dude Ranch was cool too, i dont think they have a best album
Rise Against rocks!
This version is available on iTunes.
