    As someone who actually has it, I would kill for it to be cured for just one weekend. My phobia specifically is the ocean and no other body of water, but swimming with whales and sharks is a life long dream. I'm going to have to do it in an aquarium where they let you pay to swim with them, because my mind will not allow me to get in the ocean 😞

    • @erhhhh27
      @erhhhh27 Год назад +17

      Same! However my fear stretches to all bodies of water apart from pools. My phobia is very severe and it sucks! I absolutely love sharks and whales and I wish I could dive with them, but my fear doesn’t allow me too.

      @@erhhhh27 I totally understand. I have to actually make Dr appointments and get medication just to go on vacation whenever my daughter and husband want to go to the ocean. • @erhhhh27
      @erhhhh27 Год назад +2

      @@Donnavinmackinzii Dang, I’m sorry about all that. My fear of bodies of water only stems around my own safety and paranoia, I had no idea people with it feared for others when they are in the ocean, actually now that I think about it, that does make a lot of sense. Also, there’s medication for something like that?

    • @Donnavinmackinzii
      @Donnavinmackinzii Год назад +1

      @@erhhhh27 I never knew it did either until I became a mother 10 years ago. I have generalized anxiety that I deal with daily and choose not to medicate. I am a nurse and just weighed the pros and cons of being on anti-anxiety medication and chose not to. Throughout life I've realized my anxiety symptoms are extreme worry, overthinking and fear of "the unknown" in any situation. So as someone who grew up obsessed with the ocean, I very quickly realized how much of it is unknown and I believe that's what triggered my phobia, because I did not have it as a young child.
      But yeah, I never would have thought phobias are also triggered by other people doing things until the first time my daughter ran towards the water while we were at the ocean. I'm sure I probably look like an absolute lunatic 🤣

    • @Donnavinmackinzii
      @Donnavinmackinzii Год назад

      @@erhhhh27 and to answer your question yes. there are multiple types of different anti-anxiety medication. what works best for me is Xanax. When I know that I am going to be on the coast and my daughter is going to want to swim. I just make a doctors appointment a few weeks before we leave. My doctor is already very aware of my phobia, so I just let him know how many days I will be physically on the water or near the water and he medicates me for that amount of time. Like I said I only take it once every couple of years but it truly does help.

    I would need to have eyes on the top and back of my head. Also attached to the bottom of my feet. To feel any kind of comfort in that situation 😮.
