You do your homework in this video.I'm always can learn much in it.I enjoy to know the comparison of Taiwan and British culture. You even know more than me,sometimes I even thought am I a real Taiwanese? lol. Thanks so much Allen.Well done.
6:38 there are 58 waterfalls in England, 20 in Scotland and 41 in Wales, according to Wikipedia. Not as many as Taiwan. I think 小飛 mentioned the number of waterfalls in one of his videos. Check it out. The famous Titanic was ‘registered’ in Liverpool because its managing company, ‘the White Star Line’, had its head office in Liverpool. National Museums Liverpool is a great place to visit. Allan, I’m promoting your hometown Liverpool.
Now I regret that I'd never been to Liverpool even though I lived in the UK for a whole year...will do it next time when I revisit this beautiful country 🇬🇧 ❤️
Whenever I saw any RUclipsr introduced my place, I was so mixed feelings in my mind. You know better than me now. I have been left for almost thirty years. But I still feel the calm mountains, breeze from the ocean, and various cultures.....yes, I miss my beautiful hometown.
I'm always impressed by how much information you have to share! Also, I'm not sure you should have mentioned that last place was shut down and dangerous, now I'm tempted
Once upon a time I was a trainer and assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Used to take kids from the American Air Force Base at Lakenheath (Suffolk, near Brandon) to the the Peak District, New Forest, Brecon Beacons and other areas. Saw a few small waterfalls in the Peak District and a couple that were a bit higher down in Wales. The New Forest area is flatter than my first girlfriend, so nothing there. Also saw some small cascades in Scotland and on Skye. I think it's sort of a natural rule that we take home for granted and see MUCH more when we're abroad.
Love comparison Allan between the two cities. Definitely showed the past and the heydays of the yesteryears of both cities. But we both know that you like Liverpool more. Afterall Liverpool was awarded the cultural capital of Europe innit..hahaha 🤣😂🤣😂...🤞🤞🤞 Hahaha~~ And in some way if you might be able to stretch it out abit more.. 'A tale of two cities'...hahaha 😉😂👍😎
We enjoyed your video! Maggie is from Keelung and said that the bookstore you went to must be new. In the UK, the coast of Cornwall and the ancient tin mining villages along the coast also have the same vibe as does the one in Taiwan.
Very true, there are not so many waterfalls in UK like in Taiwan, because there’s no mountain but heels in UK, only few small one around Cornwall,lake district and Scotland, perhaps more in north Ireland . The disfluency Chinese title translation can be better (from my own opinion)
You see. Allen is not a “waterfall guy” like Xiao-Fei. So, he didn’t pay that much attention to waterfalls while he was in the UK. By the way, the water is too damn cold in the waterfalls in UK to really go for a dipping. Even Xiao-Fei wouldn’t do that. However, going for a dipping in the waterfalls after river trekking in Taiwan is a real treat, especially in the hot summer....
A truly interesting exploration of similarities in well-chosen settings. I can imagine a squeal: with a deep basin protected by mountains, Keelung obviously made a great port. The purpose of Taiwan's first railroad was to bring goods to this port. The port flourished because Taiwan was Japan's rice bowl, with an extra season of harvest every year. Unfortunately, during WW II this made Keelung the target of American air raids, which devastated Keelung as much as Coventry. Now only the last survivor of those air raids are still alive. A few of the air raid caves are open to the public Another idea for a squeal: it took me a long time to warm up to Ruifang/Jiufen because in my childhood, I remember when mining turned the waters of the streams and beaches black, much as environmentalists still speak of London's "killer fog". Both Taiwan and UK have made so many great strides that residents under age 40 might find it hard to imagine how much the environment matters. For your international audience, the name「基隆」means "firm foundation of prosperity", but it's really a homophone (in both Mandarin and Minan) of 「雞籠」(chicken cage). In late 19th century, when the economy was bad, some men on the Southern Fujian coast came to this area to make a living, most of them leaving wives and daughters behind. The living was so good that many of them (including my great-grandfather) stayed, leaving the women back home to complain that their menfolk must have been captured in a big chicken cage.
I like your channel but the English subtitles of your videos are too small. I want to learn some English words but I am tired of watching them. Can you enlarge the words?please
When Allan is without Prozzie, or Prozzie is without Allan, they can produce respectively most intelligent and knowledgeable videos. When they are together, somehow they (and Taiwan beer) are … I can't find a decent word for this combination.
Thanks so much.... I think there’s a lot to be said for the 3 principles, probably more than can be said in a youtube comment but I think it’s something that could be compared to a western philosophy in a future video seeing as Sun was inspired by many Western factors when creating the concept..... but I’d need to do much more reading before making too many opinions
Taiwan wants to be politically independent of China much like The UK wants to be independent of Europe. One of the many similarities you could have pointed out.

@肉红烧
