      if Mark can live thousands of years, then I'm sure the brother can live at least 100 years.

    "he doesnt know how to be a person" thats why i love Nolan as a character so much. We get to see him grow and actually develop a conscious. Nolan is thousands of years old, and yet, his short time on Earth DID change him. This shows nuance and writing is top notch

      Nolan's story is what if child soldier would live and fight for military organization that brainwashed him for thousands of years.

    "his people do need your help. let me tell you why."
    "i don't care."
    "i know that's not true."
    one of my fave bits of dialogue in this episode

    Remember what Nolan said the last season. It doesn’t matter what other species the offspring is as long as part of its viltrumite they will live just as long

      @ldkinbote 5 месяцев назад +4

      I figured that the baby is aging quicker now until his Viltrumite half kicks in and he gets powers (like when it happened to Mark as a teenager) and then he'll start aging much slower. He MAY have a shorter lifespan than Mark or not. Probably not enough info on mixing of species with Viltrumites to know if they'll live shorter or even longer than a pure Viltrumite.

    • @ImperativeGames
      @ImperativeGames 5 месяцев назад

      It still should depend on how different species are. Bugs are very different from mammals. It's already a miracle that he can have a child with a female from this race.

    I really like how that episode puts us into Nolan's shoes regarding the lifespan difference of species.
    Nolan's bug wife spent the majority of her life with Nolan and had a child with her husband. But it is hard to see the importance of this relationship and instead we are inclined to condemn Nolan for not putting his long-term loyalties (To Mark and his mother) above emotional attachement to a short lifed bug.
    That was exactly the mindset Nolan had beforehand when he called debbie a pet.
    So this really shows how extreme his worldview shifted.

    The question of why the Viltrumites want to recruit Mark instead of having an agent of their own do it is a BIG one. It hasn't come up in the animated version (maybe next season), but it's an important point with far reaching repercussions. I'd suggest remembering that question.

    It wasn’t a planet, it was a black hole. Nolan was about to kill himself.

    I don't know if this helps to understand Nolan, it certainly doesn't excuse him. If he is over 2,000 years old, most of it brainwashed. His 20 or so years which is most of his wife's adult life, to him would feel like about 5 months (in comparison) which goes back to when he compared her to a pet, it wasn't that he didn't love her & considering their short time together was very impactful. His time away from (his new life) in comparison would feel like 2 or 3 days. This also helps explains why he doesn't understand these new emotions. This show really does well making you think outside the box, like the aliens in season 1 that could use time moving faster than them to almost win in their arms race against earth. They better be good books lol

    Omniman lives for so long that his 20 year relationship would be 1.5% of his 2000 year life which in simpler terms is less then a year or a few months, like owning a pet fish (still fucked up tho)

    Altho he done horrible things i really love his redemption arc he doesnt want redemption and went through a mid life crises/depression for the first time since he was raised to be a cold hearted killer this feeling is new to him and in the end he was and is sorry for what he done and even believes He DESERVES DEATH and it gets real emotional, now thats deep especially if you play karma police by radiohead over the beggining of this episode

    I had been waiting for this episode to air since I binged the comics after Season 1. It more than lived up to my expectations!
    - Something I really appreciated was that they kept Mark hugging his dad but changed the subsequent conversation so that Mark was verbally tearing into Nolan for everything he had done. Felt better than Mark begging Nolan to come back.
    - I’m a fan of Mark and his half brother’s relationship and I can’t wait for the show to adapt the rest of it.
    - They picked great voice actors for Thula (Grey DeLisle), Lucan (Phil LaMarr) and Kregg (Clancy Brown). It sets the bar high for the rest of the “main” Viltrumites the show has to introduce

    Viltrumites live for thousands of years. So..his brother will live as long as mark.

    • @maxvickrey4357
      @maxvickrey4357 5 месяцев назад +2

      That's not exactly how that works marks bother life span is closer to a normal human where as marks lifespan is basically just as long as a pure viltramite because human DNA is more compatible with viltramites and the offspring basically comes out mire viltamite than human

  • @diorscott5432

    The viltrumits are making Mark conquer earthier because he’s from there and because Omni man failed his original mission to take earth, that leaves Mark as the one who has to take his place.

  • @CaesiusX
    @CaesiusX 5 месяцев назад

    Perhaps part of Mark's preparation of Earth is to get rid of those with superpowers that would resist the Viltrumites. At least, that's what it seemed like Nolan was doing.
    After that, perhaps go after the military industrial complex all over. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • @aarrgghh
    @aarrgghh 5 месяцев назад +2

    the vultrumites have conquered hundreds of planets and would rather not tax themselves by waging all-out war on all of them simultaneously. given their lifespans, they decided it's better to invest the time in subverting them first.
