Thanks Ray - we are getting ready to film two additional connected stories - one from Franklin, MO where the Santa Fe Trail started and then one from Arrow Rock
It depends on what time period you're using. Before 1769 the west was considered West of the Appalachian Mountains. So one could claim that the American West started in Kentucky and not Missouri.
I was thinking the same thing. Many pioneer families followed the Boones from Jefferson County, Kentucky, to Missouri. My seventh grade grandparents James and Mary Audrain were among those families that came down the Ohio and up the Mississippi. Mary actually gave birth to a daughter on the flatboat.
Great narrator!!
Been to the lick a couple times, but have several more times stopped at Arrow Rock, a fascinating little settlement.

And your great great grandfather Avery had a very large mule farm just south of Hale.
Sounds familiar, very well done. Hope to see you in St. Joe a couple weeks from now :)
Pedro - see you there
very neat, William Becknell is buried not too far from me, just west of Clarksville TX, Davy Crockett stopped and visited him on his way into Texas
That is interesting, I knew he moved to Texas, but this detail is very cool to know.
I am kin to the BOONE family..
That is great. Where do you live now?
I think you have several 7th generation lines, Sam. Hunt, Williamson, Brushwood, Grant, Coleman Ballew and a few others.

Exactly!

Richard, where did they settle in Missouri?
@@octatrails O'Fallon, MO, in what is now Dames Park. Mary's father, Samuel Wells, made his home nearby just north of what is now Fred Weber quarry.
