  • Sorry about not being able to see certain things... I was trying different settings and needless to say they didn't turn out too well. Hudson Valley NY. Not all the slimy salamanders I found were shown. I don't look for (and thus find) salamanders all too often so I was a little bit overjoyed upon finding what I did.
    Species in Order:
    Northern Slimy Salamander (Plethodon glutinosus)
    Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma maculatum)
    Marbled Salamander (Ambystoma opacum)
Northern Ringneck Snake (Diadophis punctatus edwardsii)
    Northern Slimy Salamander (Plethodon glutinosus)
Not Shown: Garter Snake, and a HUGE Northern Black Racer.

Big Apple Herper Thanks! I certainly wasn't expecting it. Now to find more and the other 2 Ambystoma species that may reside in this forest!

Patrick/Matthew Sweeney It was a good day for salamanders! This place specifically has a lot of diversity, and an abundance of Slimy Salamanders. Found four in 30 minutes the other day, first time seeing any this season.

Hudson Herper I love croatan! Got any ideas of what you will target?

Blazed Herping Yeah, pretty much everything... Ideally a pygmy rattlesnake, either hognose species, cottonmouth. Almost everything there would be a lifer for me.

Hudson Herper sweet, there are loads of cottonmouths there, my last trip I found a few cottons, a pygmy, a scarlet king, 3 racers, some rough greens, and a pinewoods + worm and rough earth snakes, aswell as some other herptefauna like lizards and turtles and things. Oh, and a gator.

Blazed Herping yeah I watched the video! I like to use youtube to study possible areas.. lol. all of those besides the gator would be a lifer.

I think i see "bigfoot" in this video, it is at about 3:38 in the video. It could be a fallen tree i have no idea.

Paul Stephanski If I am looking at what you are looking at then yes its a tree. Theres a lot of downed timber there. There are also bears here
