Citation Literacy: The Series | Episode 2: The Basics of Communicating with Legal Citations

This is the second episode of a video series by Professors Alexa Chew and Rachel Gurvich about citation literacy. This video focuses on reading citations and on writing citations to cases and statutes with the key information that someone can use to know what you’re referring to and how to find it. Note that this video is specific to the United States. It assumes you know the difference between primary and secondary sources and that you understand the parallel state and federal systems of government, the three branches of government, what statutes and judicial opinions are, and the three levels of courts common in the US.
