My late father sailed on various Union Castle ships, eventually reaching the rank of Chief Engineer.
In the 1960’s, a few years after I was born, he decided to leave ‘the life at sea’ but he always remembered with great fondness his life at sea and would mention the ports of Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, East London and Durban, all in South Africa.
In the 1980’s I worked in SA and was happy to visit these lovely cities, which dad had always spoken about.

We sailed on the Windsor Castle in 1972, from South Hampton to Cape Town, South Africa. It took 2 weeks, An amazing experience.

I travelled on the Windsor Castle on this maiden voyage as a young boy with my parents and my brother, I still recall some of the trip, it was amazing as a young lad.

I regret not having sailed upon her. But as I was ten years old in 1977 and living in Michigan...

This is the wrong aspect ratio, sadly.
