Thank you for bringing back memories. I worked at the Academy of Music (1971-72) and remember The Band's run of four nights very well. Amazing music, sound and crowds. I was working in the lobby when my boss (Steve Hirsch) said a special guest would come out for the encores and he needed extra security and wanted me in "the pit" in front of the stage. Never told me who the special guest was, so imagine my surprise when Bob Dylan appeared. Happy New Year everyone, stay safe!
Thanks for sharing this spontaneous and billiant moment of music with Bob and the Band ! These guys wrote and performed the best rock&folk music forever!
Message I hear is yah goddah find yourself. That is a truthful message from Bob Dylan to us!!! It’s only Rock & Roll and we Love ❤️ to Rock & Roll all Day and Night makes this experience Alright!!!!

Pretty accurate description. Most people forget about the Samurai movie. Lucky to have seen this show and one earlier in the week. For the record, the encore was "Rock 'n Roll Shoes."

When I Paint My Masterpiece By Bob Dylan [Verse 1] Oh, the streets of Rome are filled with rubble Ancient footprints are everywhere You can almost think that you’re seeing double On a cold, dark night on the Spanish Stairs Got to hurry on back to my hotel room Where I’ve got me a date with Botticelli’s niece She promised that she’d be right there with me When I paint my masterpiece [Verse 2] Oh, the hours I’ve spent inside the Colosseum Dodging lions and wasting time Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle, I could hardly stand to see them Yes, it sure has been a long, hard climb Train wheels running through the back of my memory When I ran on the hilltop following a pack of wild geese Someday, everything is going to be smooth like a rhapsody When I paint my masterpiece Bridge] Sailing 'round the world in a dirty gondola Oh, to be back in the land of Coca-Cola [Verse 3] Well, I left Rome and landed in Brussels On a plane ride so bumpy that I almost cried Clergymen in uniform and young girls pulling mussels Everyone was there to greet me when I stepped inside Newspapermen eating candy Had to be held down by big police Someday, everything is going to be different When I paint my masterpiece
Robbie Robertson said the most amazing thing about Bob Dylan is that he can remember the lyrics to songs that over ten minutes long...well he forgot the lyrics to the second verse to Like A Rolling Stone.
I always wondered about that. I like stories like that about Bob because they make him more human. I wrote one song in my life and don't have it memorized. I play classical guitar and have a dozen intricate songs memorized, but it's like my hands know the song. Dylan's songs have so much imagery, he might be able to see what picture to sing about next.
Dylan flubbed the same section at the Isle of Wight, which was the only other time he performed "Like a Rolling Stone" between 1966 and 1974. I blame the mystery tramp.
Fantastic and with the band especially how good is Levon
Thank you Painted Passport! This is fantastic! Happy New Year! 🎉
This was the first time I saw Dylan play. It was a special birthday treat for me!!!

Keith Kevan , Herbie Mitch, Bave Jacobs and many more great guys worked there, seems like yesterday
LONG LIVE THE BAND !
I always love those drunken sailor background vocals only the band could produce. Unclose harmony.
It`s fuckin deadly
This version of When I Paint My Masterpiece is so incredible.. It sounds drunk, aggresive, amazing. Love Bob when he's completely out of his head.
Long live Bob Dylan.
Such a strong voice in a good place
This would be a fucking AWESOME E.P.
They released this Dylan set on a extended anniversary edition of The Bands "Rock Of Ages"

When I Paint My Masterpiece
By Bob Dylan
[Verse 1]
Oh, the streets of Rome are filled with rubble
Ancient footprints are everywhere
You can almost think that you’re seeing double
On a cold, dark night on the Spanish Stairs
Got to hurry on back to my hotel room
Where I’ve got me a date with Botticelli’s niece
She promised that she’d be right there with me
When I paint my masterpiece
[Verse 2]
Oh, the hours I’ve spent inside the Colosseum
Dodging lions and wasting time
Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle, I could hardly stand to see them
Yes, it sure has been a long, hard climb
Train wheels running through the back of my memory
When I ran on the hilltop following a pack of wild geese
Someday, everything is going to be smooth like a rhapsody
When I paint my masterpiece
Bridge]
Sailing 'round the world in a dirty gondola
Oh, to be back in the land of Coca-Cola
[Verse 3]
Well, I left Rome and landed in Brussels
On a plane ride so bumpy that I almost cried
Clergymen in uniform and young girls pulling mussels
Everyone was there to greet me when I stepped inside
Newspapermen eating candy
Had to be held down by big police
Someday, everything is going to be different
When I paint my masterpiece
The lyrics? It was NYE......Wrong words and all- still majestic. Ty

I forgive him!
I always heard that he did that purposely to avoid being bored.
Funny!!
