Hi Alyx Just a suggestion... it would be nice if you make the knife appear. Begin with nothing but the glass of water... (or maybe with nothing at all, even better ;) ) Nice work
Amazing!!! I'm 70 years old just getting into magic and hopefully by the time I'm 110 I can be that good. :) Knowing exactly what you were doing it still took me 5 tries at 50% to catch the action. Fantastic!!
Hey Larry! I'm glad you liked it. I made this on a whim for a workshop I was doing, and now, 9 months later, it even fools me! I hope that some day I can develop this further into a little 10 minute act. Enjoy your new journey into magic and if I can be a resource, let me know. All the best, Alyx
@@AlyxMagic Wow!! thank you for responding. A resource would probably be too much to ask but I would love to have conversations with you about magic. I am so enjoying it and finding it fascinating and watching someone as good and enthusiastic as you makes me smile. Have a wonderful day.
@@rapidfyreconsulting, conversations about magic are among my favorite things. Don't hesitate to reach out. Glad the videos are making you smile. They were a nice outlet for me during the earlier days of Covid. All the best
Your timing, sleights, use of props, ie the knife as impromptu wand and misdirection were flawless. As an amatuer magi, i can even more greatly appreciate the skill displayed in this video. Very well done. Thank you for posting this performance
Hey thanks! I made this as an assignment for a class, and it turned into one of my favorite pieces. I'm a little proud of it, and hope to take it further some day! I appreciate your kind feedback!
@@AlyxMagic if i were you, i would be more then "a little proud". Give yourself the credit you deserve. You have obviously put a great deal of time and practice into this routine.
There are times when the script helps. I like that there is so much going on, and not a single word. I had to watch several times, even though I have an idea what is happening. I have no idea about how the knife vanished. The timing is just wonderfully smooth. Thank you for this gem!
I just discovered you 2 days ago when I was reviewing the streaming vids on Smoke & Mirrors Theater. You are rapidly becoming one of my favorite magicians!
Also, when you have to slow down the speed to 1/4 speed just to catch a glimpse of what you think you saw (but still aren't sure), that's supreme talent!
Hey Clare! Nice to hear from you again. This was a homework assignment for a clowning course I was taking. I developed it, filmed it, and never really performed it again. That said, it's one of my favorite things I ever created. Glad you liked it!
I am so impressed by you! Not only are you a brilliant close up magician.... but you have absolutely tons of charisma....and THAT is something one cannot learn!!!!
Absolutely incredible. I know the video is two years old, but RUclips just decided that I needed to see it. Every move was beautifully timed and perfectly executed. I genuinely have no words, you're a master of (y)our craft. I'm a lowly amateur, thanks to anxiety and crippling stage fright. 😂
Aww, thanks so much. This was actually a home work assignment for a class I was taking, but it turned out to be my favorite thing I ever created. It's far from finished... with encouragement from your comment and some other recent ones... perhaps I will revisit. :)
Using the knife like that is extremely inspired, I've never seen that. And of course the lime wedge vanishes were great! Best of all, there is a logic to the magic. Hopefully one day you do think of a routine with it, but if you whipped this out across the table casually some day, somehow (do they even serve whole limes at restaurants even?) It would be great
I know where the lime came from, and I know where the knife went...but I never saw either, but where those two halves of the lime went I have genuinely no idea...that was magic!
Haha, thank you. This was actually just a homework assignment for an acting workshop I was in... turns out it's my favorite thing I ever created. I would love to return to it someday and polish it up. :)
Damn, never seen anything like this before. So elegant, so fooling, that sleight of hand is amazing. I had to rewind each time, but I only knew what you did because of prior knowledge, not because of actually seeing something. Ugh, such skill, so clean, *jawdrop* The "thud" near the end was a bit disappointing, but could be anything, right? ;)
Btw, I've seen other people comment on your previous videos that you should enter P&T FU, and they're right. I thought the same thing after seeing your cups & balls. I do know you need something special, so it'll probably take a while, but there have been so many people on there with not even half the skills you posses, so you kind of like have to, to kind of like raise the standard. ;) And even if you don't FU, it's all about exposure anyway. It did wonders for Shawn Farquhar's channel, and while you're probably not 2x champion of the world, you do have the skill to play in that league. So got for it! :)
And thanks for the thoughts regarding FU. FU can definitely launch a career, but I'm not sure I'm the style of magician they are looking for. I think these days they're looking for clean gimmicks and strong themes or world class sleights and solid themes or some level of previous fame. I don't quite hit the mark for any of those.
@@AlyxMagic As to FU, their standards can't be that high when they have someone on stage just talking, while someone else stuck in a box behind them does all the work (no skill, no originality). It does seem to be about cheap entertainment these days, with little room for "honest" magicians.

Love this routine. Very smooth. Had to see it again
That was scary good, perfect timing!!
Wow that was incredibly smooth. I’m definitely amazed at how good your performance is. I’m looking forward to seeing more videos
Really nice! Hope you make it to the castle in LA some day. Would love to take my kids to a show of yours.
I watched it ~10 times in a row, and It's still a mystery!!!
Nicely Done!! Glad I found your channel!

Practical magic!! Awesome routine with magic and purpose!!
Refreshing!
So much fun
Wow, that's marvellous! So much skill : D Its very entertaining to watch. Thank you for a broad smile on my face : )
No idea how you made the first half of the lime vanish. And I'm a coin magician. And I rewound it 5 times. LOL!
Thanks, this was a fun whimsical project for a clowning workshop I took. Would love to revisit it some day and make a longer act. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hahahaha love it! SO smooth! :D
Beautifully choreographed

Thanks, Robert. :)
I bet Teller would like this video. I know I did.
I was thinking the same thing!
Nice! Very smooth!
You are a master and I love you're hat. What age did you start?
Thanks! I started when I was 6. I'm 36.
We enjoyed a refreshing citrus drink in a completely different way. Thank you 😮🙏
So glad you liked it!
This one is my favorite, Alyx.
I take it you got to study a bit with the eccentric one :)
Indeed. :)
Thank you! I missed the second one ;)
Aww, thanks for the feedback. This was a fun piece to create, and in planning to return to it to continue the work. Thanks for the encouragement!

I have seen you on many videos. I like the fact that you don’t use props just ordinary objects
Beautifull misdirection. You are a great magician woman
