  • I'm all in on this now...in a few months, I'll have a trailer with the exact specs to make this work easier and more efficient. #rvtransport #fordf350 #f350 #shipshetrailers

    I know a way to get those trailer up a little quick. Take your jig up to the next trailer at the tail end take the trailer jack off and winch it up to the first one and so on see if that's a little quicker than your normal time

    Skip the 550 and go strait to a two axle sleeper cab IMO. 550 doesn’t really do anything for you the 350 DRW doesn’t already do. 2 axle tractor: a real bed, big fuel tanks, real parking brakes, air ride rear axle, 5th wheel hitch already on it, big bore motor, transmission and rear end that will last forever.

      I'm leaning that way.

      @@alltruckedup2024 The 1 tons make sense for guys trying to skirt around needing a CDL by using a derated trailer, but with a 550 there's no cheating that one plus you'd need IRP/IFTA just like on a big truck so a 550/5500 sized truck doesn't make a ton of sense for OTR driving. It's kind of the worst of both worlds IMO. The only plus I can think of is that it saves you from having to learn how to drive a big truck manual transmission.

    • @alltruckedup2024
      @alltruckedup2024  Год назад

      I have apportioned plates, IFTA, and a CDL so I thought a logical step up , if I was going to stay with the Ford chassis, would be a higher payload/towing capacity. I'm leaning more toward the semi now. I still want to get some answers from people about the maintenance costs of the semi versus the Ford. Right now, all I see is bigger truck equals bigger repair bills.

      I don't even know why anyone wants to do that hot shot . I'd rather have my big rig. I got a refrigerator in here I got a microwave I got a twin XL bed I got air ride. Anyone that does Hot shot eventually gets a rig anyways. 3000 loads at any time compared to your measly hundred 200 loads at any given time. Because they're not hotshot Loads those are partial loads. I like my little apartment

    • @alltruckedup2024
      @alltruckedup2024  10 месяцев назад +1

      I do like the semi over the truck. I would like to have more space but I don't usually spend anymore than one night in the truck before I get to my home so I can rough it for a day or two. Beyond that, I agree that the semi is the way to go. I don't do hotshot, I do RV transport. So it doesn't matter if there are 3000, 300, 30, or 3 loads...I can only take one at a time. The dispatcher always keeps me loaded and it pays well so I can't complain.

    Did you order a new upgrade trailer that has a countersunk rail like the trailer that you have now,. don't forget the upgrade straps but you need to hold down the loads on a flatbed trailer that you have ordered.

    What is the base cost of the trailer vs the cost of with all the options you selected?

    • @alltruckedup2024
      @alltruckedup2024  Год назад +1

      The base price is $29k and all the options I selected pushed it to $44k. I was just contacted by the company this morning and they said they can not get the hydraulic ramps to fit/work on the model of trailer. So deleting that puts me at just over $40k. I'll be going over my build sheet in a future video.

      I appreciate the detailed reply. I use to transport for Horizon and then Indiana Transport in single haul. I was always curious what a multi haul trailer cost when I saw you guys loading up in the yards. Stay safe out there.

    • @BrandonLeech
      @BrandonLeech 9 месяцев назад

      @@robnelson5932 they are expensive…A little overpriced IMO now. They jacked the prices way up about a year or so ago. Used to able to get a basic one starting at $18-19k and now that same one is more like $27-28k. Used they are pretty high also. Take 3 in Texas can build a very similar trailer with the trailer hauling package a little more reasonably than Shipshe.

    • @alltruckedup2024
      @alltruckedup2024  6 месяцев назад +1

      What are you planning to do with it? For me, the F350 wasn't a good fit for towing the flatbed with a full load of RVs. I just couldn't manage to keep from overloading the gvwr on the truck. If I were to do it over again with a Ford truck, I would have bought the F550. But I've got the Freightliner Cascadia now, so all those problems are in the past.

    • @alltruckedup2024
      @alltruckedup2024  6 месяцев назад +1

      Then, I would not do it with a 350. I was constantly dealing with overloading the axle weight, too. I was always within a few hundred pounds of the max weight.

  • @JacintoSantos-mi5bq

    On the last episode you had a trailer bouncing up and down on the tail what are the straps rated on the tires as you secure could they be used to secure the trailer and the tail keep it from bouncing up and down you know strap it to the frame rails of the trailer in a X position.

    • @alltruckedup2024
      @alltruckedup2024  Год назад

      The wheel straps and the cargo strap each have a working load limit of 3,333 pounds. I'm not sure I understand what you are suggesting. Please explain.

    • @JacintoSantos-mi5bq
      @JacintoSantos-mi5bq Год назад +1

      If you if you put the on the frame of the instead of on the axle it will hold better than on the axle it self

    • @alltruckedup2024
      @alltruckedup2024  Год назад

      @JacintoSantos-mi5bq I understand now. The reason I didn't attach it to the frame was I thought the leaf spring suspension might preclude me from getting the ratchets as tight as they should.

    • @JacintoSantos-mi5bq
      @JacintoSantos-mi5bq Год назад +1

      Once you have compress the suspension you have a good secure load and will not bounce back.

    • @JacintoSantos-mi5bq
      @JacintoSantos-mi5bq Год назад +1

      Suspension compression should be at least 3in then you have a tight load no-bounce recoil whatsoever try it see what happens

      Flatbed rates stay consistent as opposed to single pull loads. I don't remember where this one was going. I'd have to look back through my records to see.
