That drawing of bobby is funny af. It should be on a shirt
Maybe the funniest thing I ever seen 💀 🤣 😂 😅
Lol
I drew it! It was my first attempt at a portrait. Haha was so excited when they put it on the podcast.

I love how angry this podcast is. The pacing is intense. Deep breath...
I remeber seeing a podcast with these too long before this podcast was made. Must have been 2015-16 or maybe earlier. It was the most mean funny show ive ever seen. This is tame compared
F the masses, F the corporate
That was hilarious. They both changed sides in between and defend each other’s point 😂😂😂
I love the attention to detail with the set itself. Bobbys backgrond is all about him, even the mic cord is yellow, same with Andrew. Its so well designed.
Hehehehehehe yellow
Wow well spotted I hadn't noticed!
I was about to be like 👀 until I saw andrews was orange lmao maybe you’re on to something
cos joe rogan was on his case about his set looking bad lol
I watched the entire video and didn't realize they had different backgrounds.
Bobby literally has a James Jean mural on the wall of his house and didn't name him as an Asian artist
Lol he choked on the spot
I really like JJ art. But i cant understand why people say its basic
@@shayZero James Jean is a very talented artist

Santino as he shakes his finger “elf is better” chanting it harder each time lmfao
Bobby not thinking critics are bought and paid for is actually hilarious
I know right? The very moment unreleased movies started slapping "Certified Fresh On Rotten Tomatoes!" on their trailers back in 2015(?) was the moment the site was evidently not a reliable source of criticism anymore.
My like was accidental but I will allow it, MrBeans. Proceed.
@@Duciousness as is this one..... continue
Yeah and it's already proven that you can pay critics in rotten tomato
They are not, they are very ethical people
Ooooohhh soooo good!!! The way Santino gets Bobby all worked up is so deliciously masterful. Don’t get me wrong, Bobby is a straight up bully to everyone that is around him so to have Bobby unknowingly go upside down in Santinos comedic bits is pure gold!! DAMN I LOVE BAD FRIENDS
This was so funny 😂 I’m a painter and grown Art School kid this was hilarious... love these guys, lmao! Who knew Elf and Creed are Bobby’s triggers 🔥🔥🔥
Ironically the Renoir Impressionist painting that Santino calls “technical” was called "impressions" by the art critics at the time because they didn’t look like finished paintings done using traditional methods.
where did you hear that about the art critics?
@@simongunther8414critics looked negatively at impressionists, favists, cubists
@@lukapajovic8209 yeah the post just seems to be implying that the term impressionist came from what critics were saying but I always understood the term to come from Impression, Sunrise by Monet which was the first piece of the movement
The way Monet painted light was abstract in its way. If you look at them closely they just look like a muddle of colours they only look like realism when looked as a whole. That’s amazing. Not everyone can do that
"My niece! My niece!" Santino entering courtroom drama mode.
Andrew looks like Van Gogh's self portrait
Reminds me how Picasso started realistic and was only able to draw "badly" after many decades, takes a lot of experience to break the rules in such an organized way

Nope. Modern art is just a rejection of beauty and aesthetics - a demoralising and subversive force which serves as an allegory for the decline of Western civilisation. We now place the ugly before the beautiful, the unhealthy above the healthy, and through propaganda, we have midwits like Bobby Lee pretending that Basquiat's art isn't simply hideous rubbish.
Bobby actually has Luke Chueh hanging in his house and can’t come up with a second Asian painter!!

the rotten tomato critics gave chappelle's special a 0. so yeah critics don't know everything, they're bought and paid
Comedy is subjective tho. Drama not so much
I forgot I clicked on this video because of the Bobby drawing. But man “MY NIECE!!! MY NIECE!!! MY NIECE!!!” was hilarious
I agree with Andrew! Lol, I love when Bobby’s like “yea, but when u see a basciatt (sp), u know it’s a basciatt.” And Andrew said “yea, cuz it’s uniquely bad”. EXACTLY what I was thinking when he said it. Lol.
Oh please!
I'm sure Hokusai art is somewhere in Bobby's house. And he has an Akira Kurosawa movie poster, he was a painter before becoming a director. He story boarded Kagemusha before making it. Dream too, I believe
Asia has a way richer art history than 'the west' fact. White washing and recency bias says otherwise.
@@felix-bk7ne Longer history but Western artists (and composers) clearly pushed art to new heights.
Bobby for sure knows Takashi Murakami, Hokkusai, and Yoshitomo Nara but it can be hard to pull names on the fly.
Best description of Basquiat. Santino's on point.

Rotten tomatoes argument didn’t age well since the Chappell special.
Or the trump comment since Hawaii and east Palestine and ww3 and Afghanistan and inflation and crime and the border and the supply chain and fentanyl deaths and dementia and race relations and so on and so on and so on.
I like to think Andrew was actualy talking about Alf the whole time
Can't trust rotten tomatoes. Gave Dave Chapelle a 0 because it was controversial
While 99% of Chapelle is great, the trans stuff seems a bit forced and not naturally as funny as pretty much all his other shit. He has a couple good thoughts about the commitment and conundrums being trans presents, but it just comes off as trying too hard on it or being too invested. It's actually kind of weird to me how he is hung up on it. Like observe shit and make fun of it and change peoples take. But those jokes didn't hit in the same way. Which is also crazy to me considering how well he can make you think about race, class and sexuality in different ways effortlessly.
Anyway still love Chapelle, but his regular jokes and his trans jokes are two different styles, and it only strikes me as weird because everything else he touches is much more honest and genuine and thoughtful imo. His trans jokes are the only ones where it feels like he's punching down. Maybe because of the harsh reaction his first jokes in that arena got, but the double down just didn't feel like his usual style. That's it.
also it's black and white - reviews are either classified as bad or good. when in reality a movie that is, "95% fresh" could have a bunch of reviews that go, "yeah, this is slightly above average but nothing special" but the 95% number makes it look like a classic. you can use it but you've gotta take it with a huge grain of salt
MOST of the official critics are on the Left and will always have Left opinions. Not to mention censoring comments and fudging the numbers. The whole point of the site is to get a true sense of what people thought. As soon as it's clearly biased, the entire exercise breaks down.
Greatest artist ever? Aurther Rackham. His work shaped the imagination of 3 generations of children worldwide. He illustrated all the greats from Alice in wonderland to grims fairytales.
Not only was he spot on with his view that you could find a Basquiat comparable painting on any parents fridge, I’ve got a wall full of better paintings by my kids.
Andrew did cross some lines with that back hand to the mic, good on bobby to call it out 😂
Rotten tomatoes gave Dave Chapelles "Sticks and stones" a zero rating while the viewers gave it 98%. They flushed their credibility down the toilet with that one review.
Not a fan of abstract art. Not just because it's unique means it's good. If I put a turd on a stick, it's not a work of art just because it hasn't been done before.
Are you working there.... floored me laughing. You two are the best laugh ever. I think I've spit out my drink so many times listening to you both that I purposely now don't drink while watching you both. Thanks for great laughs always keeping it real. ❤
Bobby ~ "name 240 painters. ready go."
Huge opportunity missed to name the TMNTs among the artists
From Elf being the best to critics not knowing diddly squat...Santino just gets it
but I think he was very wrong about basquiat.
"You KNOW it's not better! You KNOW it's not better!!" lmao
They’re outbursts at each other gets me every time 😂
To be fair that artwork looks exactly like Bobby

Nah, Bobby’s got a point on this. Popularity and quality rarely are one in the same.
I tell you what there is nothing better just popping this podcast up after a stressful ass day
I can't unhear bobby ending sentences with "yea, yea, yea" a ridiculous amount of times every podcast lol
That picture is hilarious
I drew it. Haha it was my first attempt at a portrait drawing.
I loved "Fishing With John", that was a great one, especially the Dennis Hopper and Willem Dafoe episodes.😁
Andrew/Bobby have the ultimate gaslighter/gaslightee relationship.
Andrew: You'll never get an Emmy.
Bobby: Yes I will. It's possible.
Andrew: No, no Emmy for you.
Bobby: I think I will.
Andrew: Nope. Never in a hundred years.
Bobby: Okay, maybe I won't get an Emmy, but I'll...
Andrew: Don't say that, you'll get an Emmy one day.
Hahahahahahaha, "he was my AA sponsor"
The drawing 😂☠️ I need a print to hang up next to a portrait of Kramer.
Santino is right. You can't just look at what the critics think anymore. Movie reviews used to be way more objective, but so much of it is political now. RIP Roger Ebert.

I would just like to take a moment... to acknowledge Bobby's heroism -- the way he gets all that redheaded rage out now before Andrew goes home to beat that poor soul we all know is locked in his basement somewhere really is something to be applauded. It's people like him that keep the world safe from the redheaded psychos out there, one "is is that" at a time. Thank you Bobby, your community thanks you.

I apologize but the musicians of creed are some of the most technically proficient instrumentalists walking today, Scott stapp dragged em down
As an art historian I’m biting my tongue 😂
Honestly every art and art history classroom has had this conversation followed by a portrait of bobby
Jean-Michel Basquiat’s work is absolute fire.
Haha all the musicians in Creed would smoke the black keys in regards to technicality Andrew was talking about
Very late but props to Bobby for the Ok Computer shout.
Santino is 100% correct. Basquiat’s work was revolutionary - because quite honestly it was the first to incorporate graffiti and “hood” art (famous “crown”) into fine art, it did help because one of the top artists of his generation Warhol, endorsed his work. The work itself looks like it was done by a 5 year old. But to modern expressionist abstract art- all of it looks like junk anyway. None of these guys can hold a candle to the technical gifted genius of da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rafael, or Rembrandt, Vermeer and others.
Santino's remarks on Basquiat are spot on.
So.... basically Bobby is saying that Chapelle is shit since the fucking critics gave him a bad rating while the users score was extremely high.
(standing applause to Santino for his Basquiat views) more people need to be less afraid of calling him out as a mediocre artist.
Can we say he was an Afro Latino Artist and recognize who he really was.
The Rotten Tomatoes "critics" give "Cuties" high ratings .
These two are hilarious together. Bobby getting angry cracks me up and Andrew always says the funniest sh- which only keeps Bobby wound up.
I can see Bobby as italian yeayeayea
Never take Rotten Tomatoes "critics review" because it's studio owned site aka the "critics" know to what give high scores and what to say so they keep theit precious star of an "reviewer".
andrew really pissing me off with the basquiat
Dude im so glad people thought the same thing
fully agree lol - Bobby was completely right here
Naw, that shit looks like actual trash
Basquiat was phenomenal
Id like to see anyone paint a masterpiece close to basquiats untitled (skull). Id like to see andrew paint anything
Judging quality of technique in art (and other creative expressions) depends on what you're trying to accomplish and express, and to whom. Rick & Morty is technically badly drawn compared to a Rembrandt painting if judged on what Rembrandt is trying to accomplish (realism). But a Rembrandt painting is technically horrible for an animated satirical comedy show.
When judging Basquiat's paintings, look at what he wants to convey, and to whom, and ask yourself if his style is effective in conveying this message to this group. It's not about realism, but expression. He's classified as a neo-expressionist after all. Judging from how well he's been received, I'd say it's hard to argue that his style and technique is more or less perfect for what he's trying to accomplish.
Basquiat is great! Totally unique style
I would only be friends with Bobby just to piss him off as much as possible 😂
Chappelles last special got 35% critics, 99% audience score. hmmmm maybe the audience does know sometimes right?
Game idea, "is it a child's painting or is it a baskiot"
Just name teenage mutant turles
he almost named Donatello but said "Donaldo" haha But also: Donatello wasnt a painter
Bobby and santino throwing up rakes 😂
This is hilarious, though I kinda disagree with them both. I think the appreciation of certain types of modern art depend on how much value you place on the intention behind the painting. It relates to how much you think it matters that the roughness is intentional and many of the artists can paint well in terms of technical realism, as is usually the case (look at Jackson Pollock's early stuff), yet chose to paint in a style your "kid could paint." Do you buy into the idea that this context can imbue it with some deeper meaning and allow you to appreciate the subtler aesthetic value that you might otherwise dismiss or that simply wouldn't be there if your child actually did it. I'm not sure how much I buy into it myself, but I think you'd have to decide how much truth there is to it on and artist-by-artist basis, rather than dismissing all of this kind of stuff. If it's ugly or a gimmick, it might be art, but I wouldn't want it, nor do I understand the appeal beyond as a way to launder money. Some of it is likely a combination of market manipulation, laziness, and bullshit, but at the other end of the spectrum sometimes there is something deeper. To use the least controversial example possible: many, including the French Academy, originally thought impressionism was just sloppiness, that more obvious brushstrokes were simply mistakes, and that the subject-matter was trite nonsense, rather than it representing innovative techniques to more accurately represent light and its interplay with everyday subjects that would go on to revolutionize painting completely. People said at the time that new students wouldn't get away with such sloppiness, but they simply didn't understand what they were trying to do. I think there's a broad spectrum between genuine attempts to advance the medium and fraud, but to dismiss all modern art is ridiculous. I don't really know enough about Basquiat, though, to say where he falls on that line, but I think there's probably a vast number of artists on the chopping block before his work is judged.
Also, rest assured, I'm aware these are jokes.
kim Jung gi that's the dude bro just passed away..that's the dude that represents Asia best freestyle illustrator of our time
I promise that if I someone who doesn't even know the basics to acting ever go to the emmy's I will invite Bobby Lee as my guest.
I’m with Santino. I appreciate skill and technique when it comes to art, while also understanding everyone has a different opinion on things. Bobby thinks half of America is dumb and doesn’t deserve to have a voice, and whose opinions don’t matter. Audience score for Rotten Tomatoes all the way. Critics are manipulated by those they want to please and answer to.
More than half of *all people* are idiots and shouldn't have a voice; not everyone's meant to be heard. The advent of social media has ruined that fact, and we're collectively worse off for it.
@@dy120481That’s the fault of the intellectuals, not of the „idiots“. If you’re smart, then educate the less smarter instead of looking down on them. There is a reason why people like Trump have come this far.
Dude, I completely understand Santino's rage over shit like Bastiat, or Pollock.. "my niece!!!!" lofllll I couldn't agree more, and all my life I've been told how beautiful Matisse and Monet and Picasso were
Bobby is way off on the rotten tomatoes scoring. I don't give a shit what the critics say, I pay some attention to the audience score... But on IMDb
On a serious note, Satino is right about Basquiat.
No he’s not. You can’t compare an abstract artist to one who does realism. It’s like comparing Picasso to Leonardo da Vinci.
