USA basketball didn't just suddenly 'decide' to include NBA players in the Olympic team. The IOC allowed all pro athletes from all sports to compete for the first time in Barcelona.
Also, a lot of teams were sending teams that were unofficially professionals anyway...the Eastern European teams, etc...and in b-ball, the talent level got to where they were better than the college players the U.S. was sending. It was time.

The pros were not needed we choose the wrong coach in 88'. In 92 Shaq Chris Webber Jamar mashburn grant hill penny hardaway Rodney Monroe Oliver miller Scotty Thurman lot of talent in college.

I can't believe you didn't mention Clyde Drexler. In 1992 he was easily one of the top players on this team.
Clyde Drexler committed the crime of being compared to Jordan heading into that years Finals. He's kinda like DWade, a HoFer with a transcendent peak, except it just so happened that the GOAT, who played the same position as him, was peaking at the same time.

The team combined for a total of 117 All-Star Games. Jordan and Malone both had 14, Bird and Magic both had 12, Barkley and Ewing both had 11, Drexler, Robinson and Stockton all had 10, Pippen had 7, Mullin had 5, and Laettner only had 1.
Bulls did their first three-peat in 1991-1992-1993, not 1992-1993-1994

The reason for the all-stars was not because of 1988 result. It's because NBA players were not allowed to participate, although professionals from other leagues were allowed to compete, since players from other leagues were still considered amateurs.

Only exception I would make is Shaq over Christian Lattner, they were both forwards and if any college player should have been on the Dream Team it should have been Shaq
I like your choice, never quite heard of Shaq listed as a forward, but no matter. Still wish there was not so much bad blood with Isaiah Thomas/Jordan. He was probably the biggest exception at the time of selection in my opinion.
Maybe Christian Lattern won 2 NCAA titles as well as other awards and a starter in his rookie year which is pretty rare, I'm not saying Shaq doesn't deserve it but how many NCAA titles did Shaq win in college and what really made him stand out besides his height and blocks but Shaq did go to the Olympics in 1996

The "Dream Team" was made to play against Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union, the two best national teams in the world. Yugoslavia especially was dominating leading up to the 1992 Olympics, winning the Eurobasket in 1989, World Cup in 1990, and again the Eurobasket in 1991. Also clubs from Yugoslavia were dominating in Euroleague and won it every season 1989-1992. Sadly both of those countries ceased to exist, so we were deprived of games against the USA that could have been competitive.
Yugoslavia definitely could have competed, probably not win, but keep it close certainly.
Yugoslavia vs USA was the final that could have been truly legendary.

So much is wrong here, starting that they didn't introduce some of the players, the nicknames are partly totally made up, then this ridiculous POW SMASH , then this with Hattrick, who says hattrick in basketball? Then the wrong years for Jordans three peat, Then it was not mentioned that since 1988 college players had to play like children against professional players from all over the world and it was not mentioned that it was not until 1992 that the Olympic Committee finally admitted the professionals from the USA to the Olympic Games.

Please add the 1960 US Olympic basketball team led by jerry west , Oscar Robertson. They were formed during there college stint in US NCAA. But they over ruled there senior opponents by the average of 24 points in that time

I don't follow basketball much any longer, but that 1992 version of Team USA's men's Olympic basketball team was ridiculous.
After the first quarter in the gold medal game the dream team basically said, “Right Croatia fun’s over.” and crushed them.

This is for long difference the best of the olympics games history.
It has the best content but it is horrible that it was produced. And so many false facts, that's why I gave my thumbs down. At first I was wondering why so many dislikes but after seeing a few minutes tomorrow what they are saying wrong, the names, the reasons, the years of the championships and so on.

The Greatest Dream Team ever..
The reason the USA started using NBA players is that the players on all the other Olympic teams were "professionals" getting paid in those other countries, but competed under their native countries flags in the Olympics . NBA players were the only players in the world not allowed to participate. The rule was changed and then they could participate.
And Olympic team sports were NEVER the same again!
Anyone who sees this and takes a few seconds of your time to reply is greatly appreciated.. these are my top two all-time starting 5s....who wins in a 7 game series...(that's with every player in their primes):

I chose Jason Kidd for team two because in his prime he was the best defending point guard, the best passing point guard, and the best rebounding point guard.. he's the all-time leader in triple doubles for point guards.. and you have the best chance of guarding a larger magic Johnson... Let me know what y'all think...
I would switch out Duncan/Shaq for Barkley/Hakeem...IMO

People tend to forget just how dominant Barkley was in his prime.. averaging nearly 27 points per game and 15 rebounds per game.. he was a monster. And Hakeem olajuwon quite possibly could be the greatest center of all time fundamentally.. but Duncan and Shaq in their prime, yikes

The Chicago Bulls won the NBA championships from 1991, 1992, and 1993. The Rockets won in 1994. Please fix.
This was before the 1992-93 NBA season. The Bulls beat the Suns in the 1993 NBA Finals, and that's when Jordan completed his NBA championship hat trick with them.
Nobody says hattrick in basketball. This is called three-peat.
